First Quilt Finish of 2022 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

 I shared some finished placemats earlier this month, but this is the first quilt finish of 2022.



I had a number of navy-blue leftover binding strips and large blue chunks in my scrap bins.  So I wanted to make a project that used them up.  I am also wanting to clean out the tiny crumbs from my scrap bins - so this quilt really helped meet those two goals.




There are a number of different layouts that can be made using this block.  But I went with this one because I didn't need to match up a bunch of points ...

Thought I would Never Finish from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

 My initial plan was to be sharing a quilt finish today.  But I am going to have to settle with just having the finished quilt top to share.



I really loved this project when I started it.  But as I started making the blocks, I realized they took quite a bit of time to cut and sew all those tiny flip corners.

I thought I would never finish all the blocks!



But I did finally finish them this week.  And I have to admit, I am really pleased with how it turned out.

Oh Scrap! : Back on Track from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

 First of all, sorry I missed the link up last week.  It was a first in the nine years I have been hosting this weekly event.  I totally lost track of time and before I knew it, Sunday was half over.  So, feel free to link up your older post if you like.



I have been busy sewing these scrappy bits together.



Originally my plan was to sew them in horizontal strips like this.

Oh Scrap! : Too Many Blues from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

 Not too recently, I had my blue scrap bin out.  After sorting out some pieces I wanted, I realized the bin was still so stuffed and overflowing, I could not slide it back into its home.

It has sat in the middle of my sewing room floor waiting for me to do something about it.



After much thinking, I finally came up with an idea. Most of my darker blue scraps are wider strings.  I also have a lot of dark blue leftover bindings already cut at 2.5" wide.  So, I decided to cut them to 8.5" lengths ...
