Lovin’ Spoonful 53, 54 from Virtual Quilter

I love this project file, with designs inspired by an old teaspoon with engraving in the bowl.

Love the applique, love the quilting motifs, and I love the open spaces to which I would add a straight line grid, probably on the diagonal.

Lovin’ Spoonful in the Pink 13, 14 from Virtual Quilter

Love the block in the centre of outer row!

Like the second design too, but the first wins today’s vote.

Lovin’ Spoonful 51, 52 from Virtual Quilter

Love the spoon which inspired this series of designs … love the design above.

The title for the series had a different inspiration, from a different era to that old spoon.

Love the second one more!

A Spoonful of Sugar 7, 8 from Virtual Quilter

Love it.

Love this one too … they remind me of applique quilts made a century ago.

Lovin’ Spoonful 49, 50 from Virtual Quilter

Love the first design I am sharing today.

Love the second one more … still hard to believe all these designs are inspired by an engraving on an antique spoon!

Lovin’ Spoonful Reprise 1, 2 from Virtual Quilter

I have been playing with the colour scheme of one of my favourite series of blocks. I love them, hope you do too.

Change of border, now I can’t make up my mind which colour I like!

I love this series.

I love both of these designs.

I am still amazed that this whole series of quilts use blocks inspired by a teaspoon!

Lovin’ Spoonful 45, 46 from Virtual Quilter

Another project file that was about to be retired because it was about to be empty of new designs to share … or an excuse to update the colours and carry on.

Well, I haven’t changed the colours yet, but I did play with two blocks and did a couple of tweaks to create blocks which suited the second design … and there are still blocks in the collection which have only been used in the sampler collection, so this project file will be around for some time yet! Now to go looking for some different fabrics.

Lovin’ Spoonful in the Pink 6, 7, 8 from Virtual Quilter

Winter has set in here in our part of the world, so I went looking for some designs which looked warm.

Now things feel so much warmer … but it might be an hour or so before I poke my nose out the door.

Love all of these … and now I will press the schedule button and go make a coffee, using the spoon which inspired these designs.

Lovin’ Spoonful 44, 45 from Virtual Quilter

I love this design, and pretty much every design in the project file.

I particularly like the quilting designs, which in a real quilt would include some cross hatching to fill in the spaces, and would possibly use a contrast thread so the design as seen above shows up clearly, with the cross hatch done in a thread which matches the background so the texture would be there, but the lines would be indistinct.

In the second design I would not add any cross hatching, and in both designs all the applique pieces would be outlined.

Lovin' Spoonful 34, 35, 36 from Virtual Quilter

On my list of future projects I have a wholecloth quilt … could this be the one?

Probably not, but the Lovin’ Spoonful project file could be where I will be looking.

Love the one above, both the applique and quilting is very much to my taste … though there are some quilting lines I should have added.

The last one would probably work just as it is!

Lovin' Spoonful 32, 33, 34 from Virtual Quilter

I want to change fabrics in this project file, but not until I have my block library sorted. However it is hard not to be distracted when I am playing in Electric Quilt, but I must be strong or the library will never be tidy!

At least this collection of blocks are tidy, designed much more recently than lots of others, when I had learned that I should keep them tidy as I played. I tried to teach our children to tidy up when they were growing up, but it seems I have forgotten that lesson when they left home ...
