Logs at Lochiel 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 from Virtual Quilter

My favourite traditional Log Cabin quilt design, and a great place to start making a few changes.

First up, I changed the outside light coloured pieces to dark.

The next logical step would have been to make the two inside light pieces dark, but I skipped that step, and started adding two light strips to the dark side.

I like the last one … but will keep playing!

Logs at Lochiel 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

This series uses a lot of different Log Cabin block colour variations of the basic Log Cabin block … see how many variations you can pick amongst each of the designs.

The series title represents of of many salt lakes in the southern portion of Australia, some of which are pink … a result of the salt and the local soil. Some of those lakes have been named Pink Lake, but Locheil, which now has a small town attached to it, was named by someone with links to Scottish lakes.

Logs at Lochiel 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 from Virtual Quilter

New project file, starting with two versions of my favourite Log Cabin design, the first starting with a light centre, …

… the second with the blocks turned around 180 degrees to make a dark centre.

I have added a collection of Log Cabin variations to the project file, and a variety of colour placements within each of those blocks … almost too many to be able to make up my mind which one to use each time I want to make a change.

That means I will have to make a lot of changes just to see what happens.
