We are humbled, and please open for a status from Pat Sloan's Blog

Thank YOu (3)

Gregg and I are comforted and humbled by the many well wishes, we don't even know where to begin.  Your words are so kind, and they uplifted us as we remember Gregg's mom Madge with all our heart.

One person suggested I make a memory quilt and I thought about that.

I like the idea and I have a pattern that my super talented friend Kitty of Night Quilter designed.

Pollinate-English-Paper-Piecing-Quilt-2

This is a portion of an English Paper Piecing Rosette in her quilt called 'Pollinate'. I've not done a large English Paper Piecing (EPP) project... yet.

They ...

Remembering Madge from Pat Sloan's Blog

Madge sloan first quilt signature

It's been a hard summer as my wonderful, smart, talented, and beautiful Mother-in-law Madge slipped away.  We said good bye to her yesterday which just doesn't seem enough for me.  I wanted to share what a great woman she was and how important she was in my life.

She grew up in a log cabin without running water in rural Pennsylvania. Over her life time she was an artist who did many paintings, a banker, a mom, a seamstress, a quilter, a woman of great faith, and a firecracker of lady.  Anyone that knew Madge knew she was ...

Do you collect anything? And my Charity Quilt Front! from Pat Sloan's Blog

I am doing a photo a day project which is fun and challenging. I've not done something 'every day' for a full year before.  We are 5 months into the project today and I took some time to think about it.

Pat Sloan 2019 151 of 365

Each day I get an email prompt with either a topic or a photography lesson.

I joined this on a whim, really on a whim. I think on Dec 28, I was reading a post and it mentioned this, I read it, it might have been late at night.. very... late at night. I decided it sounded like ...

Typecaset_alphabet_square

When my friend Sheri  Cifaldi-Morrill of Whole Circle Studio came up with this amazing English Paper Piecing alphabet papers. She has a blog tour running and asked a variety of people with a variety of skill levels to join her by making a letter.

Fa-La-La A giveway of the BEST kind! from Pat Sloan's Blog

Pat sloan splendid sampler for madge

Welcome Splendid Sampler Quilters!

My block today is to honor my amazing mother-in-law Madge.

I hit the jackpot on getting the best MIL there is!

Madge and I share a love of quilting and gardening. Our two favorite things to talk about. She is also an amazing seamstress. Making most of her clothing since she was a teenager. Quite posh, I love that photo of her showing off a new outfit!

I actually learned to quilt before Madge did. When she started to take classes her beginner sampler had a 'Honey bee' block, and I really wished mine had one ...

How do we decide if we want to keep working on a quilt? from Pat Sloan's Blog

Happy Cloud Quilt Batting by Fat Quarter Shop

Article continues below this Ad

I've been thinking about what I like to read about  and what I like to write about. I miss reading thoughtful articles at sites I follow. I miss writing them myself. We all tend to write short to the point. Because it takes longer to write an article that makes us think. And frankly, it takes you longer to read that article. Today I've got two things... One.. do you like reading an article with a bit more to it, not just photos & captions?

And second.. do you have parts of quilting, maybe ...
