Welcome Back!

We had a wonderful first meeting of the Guild year. We got down to "business", discussing budget and bylaws. We also discussed programming and charity priorities for the coming year. It's going to be a fun one! Marie, our new President, got things rolling.

The Raffle table was stocked with goodies!

Coat of Arms
Our Treasurer, Greer, brought in the Coat of Arms so it can be passed to the next member. She wore it at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky. She even added a zipper pull that's in the shape of Kentucky!

And ...

a day in the desert from Frayed Edge

A tenacious little tree growing out of the rock.
I wonder if the roots will someday become large enough to crack the stone?

From the Red Rocks National Conservation Area.  It's easy to understand how the land was formed when you can see it open like this.  This summer we bought the National Park Senior Pass, and it has already paid for itself on the trip here!

Hoover Dam and Lake Mead are easy to get to and memorable.

My hiking companion.  He's a keeper!
This was in the Spring Mountains National Conservation Area, just northwest of the ...

where in the world... from Frayed Edge

Can you use these pictures to guess where I am tonight?

After all that pretty scenery in Red Rocks National Conservation Area, all you have to do is turn 180 degrees to see the desert oasis of Las Vegas!

We (Bob and I) drove from the airport though the mania that is "The Strip" and headed out to our little home for the week, then further west to these mountains and some peace and quiet!  We took the scenic drive through the area and scoped out some trails that we will return to soon.  And we're seeking some good ...

Living the DREAM!! from Lisa H Calle's Blog

The last two weeks have flown by.  I was in Las Vegas for BERNINA University, which was amazing!!

Except for:

Let’s begin with the flight to Las Vegas.  There was “air traffic” which, to those non flyers,  delayed our flight.  In this day and age there is traffic people!  And in the air “planes” don’t magically appear.  Road travel is a bit more unpredictable as far as volume but can’t we be a bit more efficient with scheduled flights (air traffic controllers may need to be paid more, just a thought)? I mean I had important things ...

Have Wings Will Travel from Lisa H Calle's Blog

Yep that’s where I’m headed, but what’s wrong with the picture below? If you said, ” The plane is not in the air” you would be correct!

Red Rocks Resort for Bernina University is my ultimate destination.  This amazing facility is where the Bernina dealers gather each year and are introduced to future BERNINA, concepts and ideas.  We also are given the opportunity to hear about new products, so exciting!  This year brings a little addition to my time at the University as I am teaching two classes tomorrow, both focused on how rulers are used and the ...
