Sew Hot covers so many bases and also stocks Kona solids, Aurifil thread, Richard Hemming needles, Emmaline Bags hardware, Paper Pieces and much, much more.

Two Color Quilt Challenge from Jan's Quilts

American Patchwork & Quilting has issued the Two-Color Quilt Challenge to Modern Quilt Guild Members.  You can find all the info here and here.

I've never shied from a challenge, so I got designing.  I decided to make a bed-sized quilt and use Kona White and Kona Storm.  Kona Chartuese is one of my favorites but White won out because of the room I'm planning on using it in.  Above is the photo that inspired my design.  I researched and found that this tiled panel by Athos Bulcão, a Brazillian artist.

Using the 8-at-a-time tutorial from Blossom Heart Quilts ...

Postcards From Sweden - Thinking and Contemplating from Midget Gem Quilts

Wednesday 14 February is the launch of the Postcards From Sweden quiltalong, hosted by Sandra, mmmquilts. Sandra is a great organiser. I blether, buy the Postcard, maybe even write the Postcard and then stick it behind the clock . Sandra talks the talk, and actually stamps and posts the Postcard. ~Why don't you check this out and jump in too?  Louise of Quilt Odyssey made a really cool button. Rather pleased that IT challenged me was able to add it to my margin first time. This takes you direct to Sandra's host page and all the prizes and news ...

New Beginnings, Postcard from Sweden and Another Wedding Quilt from Midget Gem Quilts

Back to the sexism again. Sir Harvey Goldsmith (a British businessman) once said, "when you marry the mistress, it creates a vacancy". This created an outrage when he said this, and also much smutty humour. Not popular with any of the various Mrs Goldsmith either I am sure. It is however, true of quilting. One project is finished, it makes room for another project. Are you not done with making quilts yet? My father once asked me that. No, there is always another quilt to make.

Now my #waywardtransparency is finished, I do have a vacancy. I have two quilts ...

Woof Woof from Midget Gem Quilts

Woof! Woof! Can you hear him now? Barking? The Houndstooth quilt, (quilt design by Justjude-designs.com) is as near a finish as makes no odds. Today I drank copious amounts of coffee, looked outside at the rain, and hand stitched down 240" of black and white spot binding. Mr Pointer, the first finger on my right hand knows every stitch! It is actually throbbing. I am hoping there is no fussy cutting in Scrapbooking tonight. I'll make the tea!

I say it is nearly a finish as I have to just "dicky it up" as our Scrapbooking Tutor  says ...

FAMILY Pillow – Free Pattern from Gray Barn Designs

Need a gift for the upcoming holidays or other special occasion?  You can make this quilted pillow to share your love of family with those around you!

family_1 sjd

I wanted this pillow to look modern and sophisticated.  I think the Navy on White Damask by Riley Blake Designs helped me to achieve this look.

Kona White and Kona Navy for the letters and background helped to bring all three fabrics together for an outstanding FAMILY…ha!  Pun intended!

While testing and double testing the pattern, I made 5 pillows!  One of the pillows I made used Garden Girl Damask Pink by ...
