I think Saturday afternoon to evening I got caught up on 5 loads of laundry – it wouldn’t have been so much but there were sheets and towels to do as well and one load with bleach! I was busy after the girls left for home!! The new washing machine came about 15 minutes after […]
read moreYesterday was another nice day a bit of handwork done, finished an audio book by Karin Slaughter called “The Good Daughter” which was not in either series that she writes but a stand alone that I had never read before. I guess I had overlooked her stand alone books and just read the two series. […]
read moreI’ve got a very important quilt to make, so I took a trip to my local quilt shop, Fox’s Cottage.
My daughter Nicky has a big birthday coming up, but not for a while, so I’ve got plenty of time to think about it. After I made her a birthday quilt for her 40th birthday, then her 50th, I presumed she would like another when she turns 60. Yes she would, she replied excitedly. We had talked colours and designs, and she had sent me several photos she had found on the internet. Nothing sharp and pointy ...

Today is a great day for some slow stitching. It’s cold and windy outside, a typical Spring day, just the right sort of day to stay inside and do something creative. I’m working on my rather old clam shell quilt, started quite some years ago. It had been tucked away in a fabric covered hat box, a gift from my daughter. Of course, I knew it was there, and occasional got it out from time to time, just to check and fondle the fabric. Finally I decided, why not just get it out and finish it! So I ...
read moreLate last week, I picked up my Weight of Love quilt from my local long armer, Julie. My goal for the week was to have it bound in time to bring it to the Oxford Quilter's Guild meeting on Thursday for show and tell. I finished the hand stitching on Thursday morning. Yahoo!
In between all the secret sock knitting, I've made two little wooly hats. These were made using up bits of left over yarn, such a good way to get rid of small balls hanging around.
Two little hats for donation
The brown and white hat used up the last of Robin’s birthday socks home spun brown wool, and I even managed to make a pom pom. It’s been many years since I’ve made a pom pom, and I think I’ve lost the knack over the years, do hope it all stays together.
The dark blue ...
read moreOff to a good start – one of 53 blocks are now done on New York Beauty– I worked on it a little bit on Friday and finished it up yesterday afternoon. There was some ripping being done until I got the hang of paper piecing again and I’m pleased with the way it turned […]

So FINALLY we get to the Sheep in Sweaters Tote! When I started the previous post, I discovered I’d never blogged about the turquoise tote, which is the forerunner and partner of this one! I will say now that I have finished this post (Part 2), it is LONG–but I wanted to be sure you got ALL the good info. If you’re here for just the totebag part, skim the embroidery bits! Thanks for reading!

Not much quilting going on here this week. It’s been perfect weather in Michigan all week, and I’ve planted mums, bought a big pumpkin for the front porch, and canned some more tomatoes. Fall has overtaken me, and I love it! We live about a mile from an orchard that features homemade pumpkin spice donuts in the fall, and I may have overindulged on them too. It’s all good!
The only crafty things I have to show you are some pink sparkly yarn princess crowns I am making for four little girls that are ...
read moreThat’s what I've been up to with my hand work, a bit of this and that. Remember those Noah’s Ark blocks? Well, I’m another small step forward on this project. So far I’ve cut the blocks apart, and have been sorting through different colours to border each small stitchery. These blocks are tiny, although I had already enlarged them from the original pattern.
Decisions, decisions
I need to find myself another stitchery pattern now. Although it generally takes me a while to work on these type of things, I really do enjoy this easy stitching ...
read moreThe last block for the Carpenter’s Wheel was finally finished – now I need to sit back and look at the wall for a day or two and see if anything needs to be moved – of course the problem with that is if you move one you end up moving half of them and […]
read moreWhen I first started on my sock knitting adventure a few years ago, I declared I would never knit socks for others as it took so long. That changed when my granddaughters asked if I could please knit them a pair of socks, so of course I did, making an extra pair for my daughter as well. Knitting three pairs of 4ply socks for Christmas really kept me busy. All through this, my hubby Robin kept reminding me that I’d never knitted him socks either! Oh dear, guess he was next on the list – so some extra secret sock ...
read moreI am having withdrawal symptoms. Both of my sewing machines are in for repairs. My large machine had error messages that I could not rectify, so I turned to my smaller machine (plan B). I had only been stitching for a few minutes before I noticed a smell and then saw wisps of smoke coming from the motor. Oh, dear. So off they both went.
I didn’t realise how often I used my machines until they were gone.
On to Plan C! Hand stitching and lots of cutting in preparation for the return of the machines. It has been ...
read moreIt’s been quite a week. The date for Robin’s second knee replacement had finally rolled around, and on the day prior he needed blood tests done, and we were both asked to take a RAT test each, to prove we were Covid free. Luckily the tests were negative, always a bit of a worry as we had one friend who had his surgery deferred for quite some weeks as he had caught Covid. The alarm clock was set on Tuesday morning for 5.00am, and we were out the door and driving at 6.00am to Palmy in ...
