Catching up on Photos from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Janet finally made it over to my house so we could photograph any completed quilts hanging around.  I did deliver just before Thanksgiving a few kid quilts that did not get photographed.  Most of these quilts shared today will be included in the delivery to the hospital tomorrow.  December is going to be busy building up our stock of quilts!

This quilt top was donated by Chris.  She has been sewing up some simple patchwork donation quilts to use up some of her older stash.  This quilt is quite large at 56 x 80" so it needed a big fabric ...

Jewel Box Quilts #5 and #6 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

We have started to fill the quilting pipeline with our Jewel Box quilts so we should be seeing some regular finishes.  Janet has been deciding the layouts on most of these blocks and then I sew them together.  She is not a quilter but is having a ball playing with the colors and he designs.

This plaid backing is actually thin fleece, and I really wanted it to find a home this winter.  So I asked Janet to pull some blocks to go with it.  It is always fun to see someone's interpretation - I would have pulled navy and ...

Jewel Box Quilt and More from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I finally found some time to start working with the Jewel Box blocks from the current block drive.

This is the first quilt top I have put together but technically this is quilt fourth quilt from the drive because I had three quilt tops sent in and they are all already finished.

The inspiration for the colors in this quilt came from this backing fabric that Nann sent me a long time ago.  We are going to use this method of choosing colors for a few more backing fabrics that have been languishing around here too long.

This quilt measures ...

More Finishes from Last Week from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

This has been one busy week for me!  I can't believe it is Friday already.

I have some fun finishes to share today...

Check out this lovely scrappy quilt!  Priscilla made the blocks and my friend Penny sewed them into a top.  Does the block look familiar?  It is the current block drive design but the HSTs are rotated. Holly sent in this backing fabric.  I love it more every time I look at it. Up close it is blue and brown and purple.  Back away and it is a stunner!  Oh yeah, my friend Kelly quilted it and ...

Jewel Box - First Quilt Finish and More from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I had so many quilts to share this week but I just didn't have the energy to write up a blog post.  With it being Friday, I thought a special post was needed.  Today we have the first finish from the current block drive.  I also added a couple finishes from previous block drives.

Cheryl actually sent in this finished quilt top made from the Jewel Box blocks.  I love how she used just purple and green blocks.  The diagonal setting is nice too.

There could not have been a better backing than the fabric sent in by Nann ...

Block Drive - Jewel Box Blocks from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

It is time to announce the next block drive.  I have always called these blocks Buckeye Beauty blocks but Nann called them Jewel Box blocks.  I like that better!

Here is the block we will be making.  The blocks measure 8.5" unfinished.  They are comprised of two 4 patches and two HSTs.  They are lots of fun to make.

The colors we will be using are black or black/white prints for the chain (predominately black please).

The background should be white, white on white, or a very low volume print with a white base.

The HSTs can be ...
