Jelly Roll Waves Quilt Along | Quilt Tops! from Busy Hands Quilts

Over the next two weeks we'll be assembling our quilt tops.

I don't have mine assembled yet, so I've nothing to show.  August is always a super busy month for me, and this year it's compounded with lots of pattern writing.

The winner from the first half of the blocks linkup is Lisa from Sunlight in Winter Quilts, who received a $15 gift certificate to my pattern shop, and since I am late getting this post up and the linkup for the second half of the blocks has already ended, I've selected the winner, and ...

Hello Again . . . from Trends and Traditions

Hello Friends!

It has been 6 months since my last check in – How did that happen?  It might have something to do with this –

May 2 2019 038 adj

Yes, that is a stack of new quilts that I have been working!  And it seems whenever I am working on making the quilts for a new book and doing all the writing,  I have little time for anything else or can’t really show anything that I have been working on.  So, over the next couple weeks before Quilt Market, I’m going to do a few posts that share the new quilts.

I always ...

What we did at Sit n Sew from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I love having Monday Sewing back to back with Sit n Sew. Sewing with friends is ..... well - it's therapy, it's what keeps me sane and the things that I get done and the things that I learn - no comparison. If you don't have a chance to sew with friends, well - you're missing out on something very special.

Let's see what everyone was working on at Sunday Sit n Sew. I tell you the new dates for 2019 filled up faster than I could get the e-mails read!!!!  I wish I had a bigger space.

Ronda ...

A New Charity Mission.... from Val's Quilting Studio

Like many of us, my mom and I sometimes just like to try new patterns, yarns and fabric
without any reason except to learn something new.
But soon, we each find ourselves with a closet full of unused blankets and quilts:
So together we have set out over the next year to provide a blanket or quilt for each of the students in my elementary school that are in Foster Care. Right now we have about fifteen kids.
The three pictured above were gifted to three girls last month. Two of the girls are in the sixth grade with special ...

Sit n Sew day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So.......   did you shop yourself silly yesterday? It was Black Friday after all. Or should I say that it was just one more day to shop in the madness that now appears to be Black Friweek! The sales are getting ridiculous and who needs all that stuff anyway? I was at the computer for most of the day and the number of e-mails regarding Black Friday sales was crazy. Buy this! Save this! Only four hours left! Nuts - totally nuts. Did I buy anything? I went the entire day without buying something until I was at Oh Look Fabric last ...

A Super Hero Finish from Val's Quilting Studio

This is a pretty "busy" finish...but with two jelly rolls and a few 1/4 yards of superhero prints I was able to quickly put together this array of Super Hero fabrics for our grand-guys 5th birthday quilt! His two requests: "Meme it has to have Captain America and Spiderman annnnddddd be long enough to cover my feet! My feet fall out of last year's quilt now!"

It finished measuring 53"x 68" and should be big enough this upcoming winter
as he keeps his feet warm under it's soft, fleece backing of superheros.
(Notice our traditional ...

It's a good day when...... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

We had loads of fun at Sit n Sew yesterday. When do we not have fun at Sit n Sew? There's nothing like getting together with friends and sewing your heart out all day. While I didn't accomplish a lot, I did. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow.

Today, I'm going to show you some of the stuff that the others were working on. I didn't get pictures of everyone's work, but we were a full house!

I love how some of the ladies have projects that they only bring to Sit n ...

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My Finish is a twin size Jelly Roll Railway quilt, begun exactly one year ago this week as part of last year's National Sew a Jelly Roll Day!  Nothing like another NSAJRD {ha ha!} coming around to motivate one to finish the project from the year before!!

The Jelly Roll Railway pattern includes instructions for Crib, Lap, Twin, and Queen sizes.  I made the Lap size but increased the border by 3" to make it a twin size with the number of blocks I ...

Onward to enter…. from Quilting with Kimberly

I simply love it when former students take the time to send me photos of their completed quilt class projects. I enjoy writing back to each and every person because I value the fact they took time from their busy day to show me what they created from the class they took. Sometimes they will even write to say “thank you” or tell me a tip or technique I shared in class helped them improve their skills and become a better quilter. This tickles me no end; I’m honored and thrilled to think something I shared may have had ...

I Started A New Quilt from Eric the Quilter

img_20180311_210125438.jpg

I started a new quilt… not that I don’t have a bunch started. We all know how that goes. I’m also trying to go through all of my damn jelly rolls. I did a count, and I have over 70 jelly roll packs. Here is one down!

I’m not sure what I’m going to name it yet, but something about it screams “On Fire”. Can you tell I have a quilt type??? Hopefully I’ll finish this soon.

Follow the jump for more pictures..

Stripes & Strips from Quilted Joy

Not all quilts are made with squares and triangles. These lovely quilts were all made with stripes and strips. You can surprise yourself with how creative you can be with a jelly roll as your palette.

Christine made this beautiful sage green and ivory quilt for her nephew.  Using the Toss Up Pantograph, she learned to use our long arm machines on this Woodland Winter Quilt.

Valerie made this fun camouflage quilt for her husband. The variety of camo styles adds quite of bit texture and color. Stripes are used in the wild as a way to confuse predators. I can almost see a forest of trees in this quilt.

Jan. OMG: Snowmen Jelly Roll Flimsy from Val's Quilting Studio

Yeah!! Stash busting project number one for 2018 is done!
For my January OMG I successfully turned a jelly roll into a flimsy finish:
This pattern is called Strip Search by G.E. Designs. It was quick and easy to sew together.
I used the whole jelly roll and it finished into a comfy lap size quilt measuring 47"x 63".
I choose a tan flannel for the backing and once I get my long-arm back from repairs, I'm looking forward to getting it quilted and having it added to our livingroom of quilts.
Jackson awoke from a nap ...

Jan. OMG: Jelly Roll Progress from Val's Quilting Studio

I continue to enjoy stitching my Anni Downs BOM.
I'll receive my final block next month and will have the whole quilt baste stitched. At which time, I look forward to adding a bunch of Sue Spargo's creative stitching as this continues to be my evening stitching project though-out 2018. I can't wait to add a bunch of whimsical details to this piece.

And have found motivation in the rejuvenation of Kate's 15 Minutes a day linky:
Days with sewing this week:  5 out of 7

This year I'm setting out to De-stash projects I've had sitting around for way too long. Each month this year, I'm going to use the motivation of the OMG Linky to get them done one month at a time.  With that said, say hello to January's OMG:
Turning this Snowman Gatherings II Jelly Roll by Moda into a quilt top.
I have a quick and easy pattern that allows for some easy strip sewing.
Thank so very much for organizing this event for us Patty!

Introducing…….. from Quilting with Kimberly

Solid-ish

I’m thrilled to introduce my new line of fabrics
by Timeless Treasures Fabrics!

Solid-ish is a line of thirty clear, color-drenched, printed fabrics. From a distance, they look solid but the closer you get, the more texture you’ll see with teensy splashes of color peeking through! They’re “solid – ish.” These are the perfect addition to every quilters’ stash. They blend brilliantly with other print fabrics, they work effortlessly as background fabrics, and yet they confidently hold their own as the starring fabrics in ANY quilt!

Solid-ish comes in thirty vibrant colors and will be available in ...

It's National Sew a Jelly Roll Day - Let's Sew Together! from Busy Hands Quilts

All of my jelly roll quilt patterns are on sale this weekend in celebration of National Sew a Jelly Roll Day!

In celebration of National Sew a Jelly Roll Day, I made this quick jelly roll quilt in grays and turquoise using my Scrappy Patches pattern.  I have updated the pattern to include directions on how to make this layout since placement of the fabric colors is the key to making it look like this.  This quilt is made with a Boundless Solids jelly roll and a splash of Kona turquoise (unknown color).

Would you believe this is the same ...

The Best of Times from MMM Quilts

Another title of a post where I sat, screen blank, mind flitting, heart full. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll have seen why it's been over a week since I posted.

Brady was here with Brianne, of course, for their annual September visit. Every one of the eight days was chock full of activities. He and Grandpa Rocco (named for one of our dogs; his other Grandpa is Grandpa Hague) did manage to squeeze in a few bike rides, this one along the riverfront in Windsor. For those of you geography buffs, yup, that is the GM ...
