Shopping with Bear from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yesterday was another one of those days where I accomplished lots, but I don't really have anything to show for it! But my Fitbit Steps? Off the chart!! I've been walking at least 13 km every day for the last week. Some of that is intentional walking with the dogs and my afternoon walk, but also all the running around the house collecting samples, setting up equipment, etc. It's totally insane! However, I have aggressive goals, so I need 11.5 KM every day, so I'm not that much ahead!

There are days when I feel ...

I'm a technology success story!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

What a wild day!!!! The temperature had dropped, but it was totally bearable with the sun! Those who were able to come to the full-day INPERSON session for the Husqvarna Viking Designer EPIC 3 went home with their heads spinning from the amount of information I spewed at them! The intent was to give them a broad overview of the capabilities, but we need MORE than one day!!

I was fired up and had fun!!! Thanks to Brampton Sew n Serge for hosting the event. I wonder if there are enough people with EPIC 3 around to host a Zoom ...

Kawaii Kitties from Becca's Crazy Projects

I was enamored with this drawing workbook called Kawaii Kitties. I couldn't resist.
I have slowly been working through the tutorials.

I've had some fun drawing little kitties.

They are delightful!

How fun is this little guy?

They may not qualify as grand art but they make me happy.

31 Days of Digital Art from Becca's Crazy Projects

Even though the month of October is over I haven't stopped doing digital art following the great video tutorials offered by BeeJayDel. Sometimes I followed the tutorial very closely, other times I used different pose references or went a different direction. Can you spot the differences?

I am so much more confident with Procreate but I have yet to find my own style. I'll keep working on it.

31 Days of Digital Art from Becca's Crazy Projects

You may have stumbled upon a thing called Inktober, or Drawtober, on social media this month. New art, like fall, is in the air. I love it. I've been following tutorials by BeeJayDel on YouTube and have been getting amazing results.

He is presenting a new video every day in October.

So many fun characters!
I'm learning how to use both Procreate and my Apple Pencil.

Practice is how you get better. I'm getting better every drawing. And I'm loving the Halloween theme! Expect more of these before the month is out. Hopefully, long after that ...

October Art from Becca's Crazy Projects

October is Inktober. While I'm not much of a pencil or pen artist, I am a big fan of digital art. I love my undo. Layers are also a super-handy feature. With paper and pen you only get the one chance. Based on tutorial by Art with Flo.

I'm pretty much complete rubbish with following prompts for these sorts of things so I just do what makes me happy. This was done following a tutorial by Art with Flo. If you're new to digital art and Procreate I recommend checking YouTube for some tutorials to help you ...

New iPad and Procreate from Becca's Crazy Projects

Somehow I managed to own this iPad mini for about five years and never dropped it hard enough to crack the screen and then, in one day I dropped it twice in about 10 minutes and this is what I ended up with. I decided it was time to buy a new iPad.
If you already have an iPad setting up your new one is a snap. It is as simple as turning them both on and following the on-screen prompts. I was up and running in about 10 minutes. All my apps and files were copied over so the ...

Using Stencils to Develop Muscle Memory for Long Arm Quilting, Part One from Cheeky Cognoscenti

My DIY Stencils, from Designs in Judi Madsen's book
No quilting to show you yet, but I've been planning and experimenting this week with stencils for my Spirit Song quilt, and I think this is going to work.  Woo hoo!

Both of the designs on these DIY stencils shown above were resized and traced from quilting designs that were on the CD that came with Judi Madsen's Quilting Wide Open Spaces book, available on Amazon here.

My Spirit Song Quilt, Waiting Patiently on the Frame
I know that some of you will look at this quilt and ...

To-Do Tuesday: Spirit Song Top Nearing Completion and a NEW Ruler Work Linky Party! from Cheeky Cognoscenti

You guys, I am so excited about a NEW linky party just for ruler work quilting!  Karin is hosting it on her blog The Quilt Yarn, every other Tuesday -- and the link up is active for a full week starting TODAY!  The linky party is open to anyone who is quilting with rulers, on any make/model machine whether it's a domestic machine, a sit-down longarm or a longarm on a frame.  I'm ridiculously excited about this because there is nothing better than a community of quilters who are all exploring the same techniques, working on the same ...

Jingle Status Update: Designing, Planning, and Online Shopping from Cheeky Cognoscenti

This needs to be short and sweet today, as I have about a bazillion errands to run before choir rehearsal tonight and if I even stop to blink, my clock will spin from 10 AM to 5 PM while I'm not looking!

Current Favorite Quilting Plan for Jingle, iPad Sketch Detail
I haven't had a chance to get this quilt loaded yet, or even spent any time at all in my studio since I last posted about it, but my iPad is with me everywhere I go so I've continued to experiment with sketching different quilting ideas ...

Tentative Quilting Plan for Jingle and More Spirit Song Birds In the Air from Cheeky Cognoscenti

Alright, you guys -- my #1 priority quilting goal for the month of December is to get as much of this Christmas themed Jingle project quilted as I can.  It's not loaded on my frame yet, but here's what I've accomplished since I posted about it a few days ago:

  • Located a package of Hobbs 80/20 Cotton/Poly batting in my stash that can be cut down for this quilt
  • Ordered and received a package of Quilter's Dream Wool batting to layer over the 80/20
  • Located the 108" wide backing fabric and prewashed it in ...
