HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! from Quilting My Way

Today we pretty much got ready for mom to come over for Easter dinner. We pulled out the game for her to play with us. We cleaned up a little and then waited for her to arrive. She arrived around 1 pm after church and then we had chai tea.

Off we went to play games all afternoon till it was time to eat. Then after dinner and for dessert we played games. I was winning a lot, but then Patrick started to win. We had "better than sex cake." I've seen a different name on it but it ...

April 2023 Short List and OMG from Quilt Paint Create

This month is flying! I just realized I had to get this posted and fast.

I didn’t finish anything in March but made progress on many projects. The list has grown.

I started The Short List many years ago to create goals to work toward and a way to focus. I continually change the categories as my goals and interests change.

Project 1 (stitching): The Tiny Modernist Holiday 2022 SAL. I’m closing in on this one. Once a project gets to a certain point, all I want to do is work on it until it’s finished. That ...

SAL Progress from Quilt Paint Create

Progress on the Tiny Modernist SAL happens faster now that most of the large sections of solid stitching are behind me.

Some of the partially stitched motifs look a little weird. The star on a stick will eventually become a tree.

I’m leaving the rest of the back stitch until the end. I tend to catch threads on my rings and nails if I’m not careful.

I’m ready for a small project after this.

Green Apple Blocks Quilt - Little Green Apples Challenge from Creatin' in the Sticks

Welcome
to the Sticks
and
 the second day of the
"Little Green Apples Challenge"

Here is my finished
Green Apple Blocks Quilt.

Carol at Just Let Me Quilt invited a great group of Bloggers to
create something with green or apple fabric (or a combo of both!)
Thanks, Carol, for inviting me!

I have so many green scraps and I've always wanted to make a
blocks quilt, so this was the perfect chance.
I cut 5 1/2" equilateral triangles out of green fabrics (light, medium, and dark shades)
to design my blocks.
There are actually green apples ...

2022 Quiltmas Spectacular Roundup from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

To borrow a phrase from Miracle on 34th Street, “Quiltmas isn’t just a day, it’s a frame of mind.” Even though we’ve already shared all the blocks from the 2022 Quiltmas Spectacular, we’re celebrating Quiltmas all month long.

Haven’t heard of Quiltmas? Twelve pattern designers come together to create 12 free quilt blocks celebrating the holiday season! Every day between December 1st and 12th, the Quiltmas elves delivered a new, free block pattern. Stitch up every block for a holiday celebration quilt or choose your favorite to turn into pillows or wall ...

January 2023 OMG And Short List from Quilt Paint Create

Happy 2023! I love the start of a new year with its feeling of a clean slate and endless opportunities. It’s a time to re-evaluate and change directions.

I started The Short list many years ago. Some years it works better than others. I continually change the categories to reflect my goals and interests.

I have goals this year to finish eight sewing projects, two stitching projects and fully finish three projects I have already stitched. I define the categories rather than choose specific projects because picking projects in advance never works for me. The Short List will reflect ...

NEW YEARS EVE! from Quilting My Way

Since I didn't get home till 11 pm, I decided to write this this morning.

New Years Eve started out with me sleeping in. I had been having trouble sleeping because of my stomach that when I had the best night in 3 weeks, I took it.

Then it was time to clean. Laundry was next. AND oh, yeah, needed a cake for tonight. I backed our poke cake that Patrick loves and put it in 2 pans that were 8x8. Worked out great. Had to get my exercises in as well. Then I was able to sit and ...

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVE! from Quilting My Way

Today we were up early and getting a few things done. Phill arrived around 11 and stayed till 3, so we had an awesome time with both Katt and Phill.

We exchanged our family gifts. Phill brought his gift and Katt has hers. So, we all exchanged gifts. It was awesome.

Mom called and wanted to know if she could come over tonight. We had Katt go get her around 3 pm to bring her here. She was missing dad and having a hard time with the day. Today was dad's Christmas day. We always opened a few gifts ...

Sunday Stash December 24, 2022 from Quilt Paint Create

I’m posting a day early because of the holiday. I hope everyone enjoys a wonderful day with good company and good food!

No change in the numbers.

We are down to the last week of 2022. Most of you have used amazing amounts of fabric. I am in awe of how much you accomplish.

I have extra time off this week and am pushing to finish the pinwheel top and log positive usage. I’ve added the extra top and bottom sections, plus the black border all around. It needs one more border of the polka dot fabric to ...

Whatnot Wednesday from Humble Quilts

After returning from our mission trip to DR on December 7th I feel like I've started the Christmas holiday behind a little bit.
I've been doing a little of this and a little of that.

Putting up simple decor.

Attending a holiday party with this adorable snoozer!

Made a trip to the local cemetery to see Wreaths Across America on my dad and father-in- laws graveside. Have you heard of this?  I think this was only the 2nd year they have done it locally.

With one week to spare Cory put up a few house lights,

And put ...

December 2022 OMG And Short List from Quilt Paint Create

This has been the fastest year ever! Hard to believe it’s December, time to wrap up the old and think about plans for next year.

I had one finish in November, the fused challenge piece. Not much else has changed on the list.

Project One: The Tiny Modernist Holiday 2022 SAL. I keep plugging away. Most of what you see is part of the second release. I haven’t done any of the backstitch yet.

Project Two: The pinwheel charity quilt, to the point of sewing rows together. I decided to quilt it in two sections. We’ll see ...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! from Quilting My Way

 Hello Thanksgiving day!

This morning we got started on getting the food together. Patrick worked on the turkey. We didn't make as much food as we have been known to do. I tried a new recipe of cornbread that didn't turn out. I didn't care for it. I don't know if it's because I had the frozen corn and not canned corn. but either way, I don't think it was what I was hoping for.

Had turkey on the table as well.

We set the table with our good dishes. I didn't want ...

Week of Thanksgiving from Humble Quilts

As we close in on Thanksgiving Day, in USA. I want to take this time to tell you how much I appreciate you all! It has been a wonderful year of travelling to guilds, opening an Etsy store, meeting amazing people, and continuing to connect to you all via Humble Quilts! Just know I appreciate you all so much.

The border in this quilt is especially sweet as it has church, home, family, and my pets.
And ya'll know I cannot make a blog post without a quilt and I thought this one was perfect!

We are celebrating Thanksgiving ...

VETERANS DAY! CELEBRATION from Quilting My Way

Today we were to go to the museum for our Veterans Day celebration.

My brother gave his speech. The we presented quilts to four veterans. It was a 2 hour celebration honoring out veterans. I won't waste this post on what I did today. I will honor those veterans.

Our photographer got in the way of this photo. lol - This is Patrick Taylor (brother), Mike McCoy, (family friend), Donald Schmidt (Navy) and Joseph Bushlack (Army). We had the honor of presenting them with a quilt. This gives us 227 quilts given out since we started in November 2022. We ...

November 2022 OMG And Short List from Quilt Paint Create

I have no idea what I did in the sewing room last month, but I don’t think it amounted to much. Maybe my goal for November should be to show up. Sometimes back to basics is best.

The project list repeats last month’s.

Project One: The Tiny Modernist Holiday 2022 SAL. All parts have been released now. There is so much stitching on this piece! My goal is Christmas 2023. I am pleased that it’s starting to look like something.

Project Two: The pinwheel charity quilt. I’m sewing setting squares to pinwheel blocks. A design opportunity ...

Busy Day....From One Place To Another from Quilting My Way

This morning was first stop to the bank, second stop to the bowling alley, and then to the grange to enjoy some time with Cindy and Sandy. We talked and worked on our projects. I was able to get a bead in on the tree as well as a few leaves. I didn't get a photo, but will do that when I work on it next. I have my new class this Saturday.

Then it was off to Connie's to drop off my quilt. Also took her her backing and batting. We chatted for a little bit. She ...

SAL Progress from Quilt Paint Create

I haven’t been in my sewing room at all this past week and a half. When that happens, it’s all about the stitching.

I have a month into the three month stitch-along (SAL), and I’m nowhere near 1/3 done.

The full picture is a snow globe sitting on a stack of presents surrounded by Christmas ornaments. I have the base of the snow globe stitched and one and a half presents.

This chart is huge. I figure it will take me closer to a year. I don’t know how people keep up. They must stitch ...

Celebrate! 4th of July! from Humble Quilts

May we think of Freedom not as the right to do as we please, but as the opportunity to do what is right. ~Peter Marshall

New this year!

I know this is an American holiday, but I hope we can all agree across the world that the freedom we have is precious! Bless you all, my sweet quilt friends!
