What I’ve been working on for the past couple of weeks is my Sew in Love BOM. Remember that I’m a bit behind. Okay, a lot behind, but I’m working on it. Month 7 went pretty quickly. I really like … Continue reading

I May Have A Scrap Problem... Goodbye March, Hello April! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Wow!  How fast is this year flying by, right?  It's hard to believe, but it's already April.  It's been a good year so far, and I do believe that I've come to love scrap sewing!

At the end of February, I decided that for my March scrappy goals I wanted to quilt my Long Time Gone quilt and finish the top of my Gypsy Wife quilt.  And I'm happy to say that I met both of those goals!  Here's my Long Time Gone... it hung on the line drying!  It has ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Well Begun is Half Done... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Welcome to another Friday!  Arguably the best day of the week, the beginning of the weekend, and most important of all, time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  Are you ready?  Let's go!

Well, I don't have a finish this week, but I do have a start!  Wednesday afternoon, I loaded Gypsy Wife onto the quilt frame...

...and Thursday I started quilting her!

I'm using a wool batt again, so I'm doing a lot of heavily filled areas to make other sections stand out.

It's fun coming up with ideas to ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... Gypsy In The House! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Scraps, scraps everywhere - they can really consume you, can't they?  But every so often, it's nice to have a finish, and be able to look at it and know that you took something that could have been thrown away and turned it into something beautiful.  You may have seen this post about my Long Time Gone quilt...

...and today, I'm happy to say that now I can add Gypsy Wife to the (nearly) finished column!  I went back and looked through my pictures, and found this one, dated August 8, 2017.

That was the day ...

Make-A-List Monday - Back to Business As Usual! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Well, last week was an interesting change of pace!  If you didn't catch them, I invited guest bloggers to highlight each of this year's five Hands2Help charities, one each day of last week.  Which meant that I didn't have a Make-A-List Monday post last week.  So let's take a look at how my list from two weeks ago went, then I'll show you what I did last week...

1.  Finish quilting the customer quilt (without mistakes this time!)
Done, thankfully!  And with no further problems!

2.  Keep working on the vintage quilt repair ...

Things I Shouldn’t Even Consider Doing from 120 Blocks

I’m so far behind on my BOMs that I should spend the next several days working on those to get caught up. After all, each month of Sew in Love is eight blocks. And I have three or four of … Continue reading

Quilting a Social Affair - Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

I have a confession.  With all the good things about working from home, I find it kind of lonely. You wouldn't think so since my job is talking to customers all day, but still I do.  So that's why in the last couple of years, I've made an extra effort to keep in touch with my girlfriends.  I really think that its important to make sure in our busy society that we cultivate and maintain a nice inner circle of friends.  Now, I'm not talking about the kind of social media "friends" where these days we ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... Success! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

This being the time of year when we are made more aware of things to be thankful for, I can honestly say this year that I am grateful for scraps!  I never thought I would be able to say that, and there are times (particularly at church) when my scrap experience can become a little bit overwhelming, but I am learning to embrace the scrap!

That being said, I'm happy to say that I took some time today and made all thirty-six Square In A Square blocks for my Gypsy Wife quilt!!

This was the first batch ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... I Got The Blues! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Scrappiness has taken over my house!!!  I feel so virtuous - I have been digging into my blue scraps for Lilli's annual quilt, and this is what is going on so far...

Now that the light-to-dark layout is set (I think I've switched a couple around since this picture was taken) I need to sew on some corners.  I have a feeling this is going to hit the back burner for a few days, though, because I picked up another commission job this week with a very quick due date.  Pray for no windy days - I'd ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Wow, this week has just flown by!  It's hard to believe, but it's Friday again, and time to get our whoop whoop on!!  Are you ready?  Let's get started!

I had a busy and productive week - with a wide variety of accomplishments!  I met with a friend about a new commission job on Tuesday and then went to spend some quality time with my grandkids.  Wednesday brought another opportunity to do some whooping when I finally got my oil changed, and to celebrate, stopped by Starbucks....

...and they not only had Skinny Peppermint Mocha, they ...

Make-A-List Monday - Buckling Down! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

After spending a beautiful long weekend in Asheville celebrating my birthday, I'm back home and ready to buckle down to work - because Christmas is coming faster than fast!

Let's take a look at how last week's list went...

1.  Work on Emmy's annual quilt.
Well in progress!  Here's a picture of how it stands today...

I think I'm about halfway through piecing the top.

2.  Finish up the thank you notes for A Heart For Texas.
Honestly, I meant to take these with me on our trip and address envelopes in the ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... Pillow Cover Tutorial! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Well, better late than never - I didn't get my tutorial written in time to post this earlier (I actually had to make another pillow cover to take some pictures!) but it's done now!  First, though, let me share with you this week's blocks for the Gypsy Wife quilt...

This block is called Old Maid's Puzzle, and it's the last of the "named" blocks in the book.  As before, these blocks are made out of Kate Spain's Latitude batiks, and I love the colors!  The rest of the blocks are designated as "filler ...

I May Have a Scrap Problem... Playing Catch-up! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Wow - I've been cranking out pillow covers this week like a crazy woman, so many of them that I almost forgot about scrappy Wednesdays!  Fortunately, I did remember in time to crank out this week's Gypsy Wife blocks...

I am so thankful for my Bloc-Loc ruler, which makes trimming up HSTs so easy!  If you don't have one, you really should invest in one - they are the best!  I actually have two - a 6.5" one for smaller blocks, and a 12.5" one for really big HSTs!

So in less than an hour, I ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... Gypsy Wife Progress, and Some Stashbusting! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Wow, this week is really flying by!!  And this is my third post in three days, so I'm going to keep it short and sweet this week.

I finished the next block for Gypsy Wife - this week's block is called Nurses Cross.

And here's a picture of all of the blocks I've made so far...

really love how this is coming along, and can't wait until I can start assembling it!

Next, I've been working with my scraps to create more pillow covers...

...pulling out some UFO/practice pieces to turn ...

I May Have a Scrap Problem... Progress! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

I am feeling so excited at busting some stash this week!  It's such a good feeling to see progress.  It's not scraps - at least not most of it - but it is some long-held stash bits and pieces, usually a yard or less.

But first, here's my Gypsy Wife block for the week - actually two of them this time!

This block is called "Puss In The Corner" - a traditional block - but one I hadn't ever tried before.  It was quick and easy, and it was so much fun to pick out the fabrics!  I really ...
