Hi, all!
Welcome to the very first Make-A-List Monday of 2021! I've got big plans for this year (don't we all, the first week of the year?) but I'm hoping I can keep on track with a little organization. Here's some of the things I'm hoping to do this year...
Get an early start on H2H 2021
Quilt more charity quilts
Save my commission quilt $$ for a special purchase
Start planning early for the 12 Days of Christmas in July hop
Participate in the Boho Heart quilt-along
I'm sure there are other things I ...

Happy New Year! I know I already said it, but it feels good to say it. 2020 is SO LAST YEAR as the kids say, and I think we are all grateful that it is.
Who knew a year ago that when I may have mentioned how awful 2019 was, that 2020 would be worse?
But more about 2020 in another post. I know it's been a while since my last post. There are many reasons for ...

My tradition is to post my goals for the new year on December 31. Plans... Goals... Resolutions... I seem to be in good company with people who are feeling like planning is hard to do at the moment. I seriously considered a blank post here. Hats off to you much more ambitious folks.
Okay, here are some thoughts. They aren't grandiose. In many ways they are continuing status quo.
Hello everyone, and welcome to the end of 2020! I'm so happy to say that, aren't you? What a year. There's no reason to go through the litany of why I am so glad to see this miserable year come to a close, is there? I'm betting that many of you are feeling the same way. I was going to say "we made it!" but of course that isn't true for too many families. Instead, I'll just say that I'm grateful that my husband and I remained healthy this year, and my parents ...

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to share today’s post, my Quilting Life Year in Review: 2020 Quilts & Projects. I’ve been doing these year in review round-up style posts for […]

Yet here we are, planning for Christmas again, not the same Christmas as usual, not the same craziness and business as usual, but Christmas all the same. A time for family usually but this year will be different for sure. I need to finish the projects I am hoping to gift later this month but my machine fell ill yesterday so I am not sure how this will happen.

Good morning! It's Election Day in the United States, but we've already voted early so there's nothing to do about that except wait and see what happens... With civic duties already completed and no further power to affect the election outcome, I may as well shift my focus to what I CAN control: Quilting goals for the week and for the fresh, crisp month of November!

read moreHere we are again, a new month, which will be marked by another lockdown here in England, starting on Thursday. Only this time, the kids will continue to go to school. Hubby and I both work from home all the time so that would not change for us but of course, movements are reduced and activities too. A good time to get sewing I guess! Stay safe everyone...

Finish along is on a pause at the minute but thankfully we can still Fettle Those Finishes with Archie the Wonder Dog. So instead of posting the laundry list, like I usually do with my quaterly FAL list, I have tried to really focus on what I might be able to / need to / would really like to finish or even make between now and the end of the year. Some are intended as Christmas presents so it would be very good to cross those off the list! And of course, depending on what happens at Christmas, whether we are able ...
read moreBack to school, back to "some normality"? Who knows in the new uncertain and unpredictable world we live in at the moment.... I have the month free as I am not starting my new job until early October. I really hope I can dip into a few interesting sewing projects and not just some tidying/sorting out as well as the usual cooking and cleaning. The issue some times when there is some free time is that I feel my motivation or energy is completely lacking. Let's hope that won't be the case this month!
Quilting:Saturday morning I got up to do all the things - the things that give me joy. I grabbed my coffee and my harvesting bowls and went out to the garden to see how I was going to spend my day. It was overwhelming. I worked at it for a while and finally had to call in reinforcements. I haven't been feeling well for a few days (fever and angry stomach), so the heat and humidity got to me and I needed help. Hubs came out and we started harvesting.
Starting at 12:00 there are cayenne peppers, purple beauty ...
read moreOh my gosh, you guys -- this is a rare surprise. There are still 7 whole days left in the month of August, and I just realized that I have finished all of the quilting goals I'd set for this month. Finished them EARLY. I know, right?! Who IS this imposter, and what has she done with the REAL Rebecca Grace?!
And it's not like I was wimpy with those goals, either. Let's recap:
August Quilting Goals:
This month is a big month in some ways. I will finish my job with my current company at the end of August.
In pre-Covid life, back in January, we had planned to visit our friends in Canada. We had also planned a tour in campervan to visit the Quebec area and Toronto but of course, this is not happening now. We are now hoping to be able to cross the Channel at some point and visit the family, whom we haven't seen since early January. Fingers crossed this is finally happening despite Covid.
With all this in mind ...
Recently on my way to Maryland’s Eastern Shore, I got caught in a mass of slow traffic. Anyone from these parts knows we only have one way to reach the beach, and that’s using the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Annapolis. Its two spans date to 1952 and 1973 and can’t handle today’s traffic. Slow-downs and waits are a normal occurrence, particularly during the summer, so I try to time my trip to avoid them. Despite my best efforts, I was stopped.
Because of the nature of the journey, my GPS isn’t of much use. It ...
