What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

I didn't graduate to get a PHD in 2021, will I manage in 2022? Quilting Gail is launching the challenge again. The idea is to finish 12 projects that are identified at the beginning of the year and also to finish all the projects started in 2022 to avoid creating new UFOs. Of course my list of UFOs is well over 12 (nearer 40 and that's just for the quilting...)but if I could at least finish 12, that would be nice progress...

A few years ago our Girl Gang had its annual retreat where we had gathered for, I think, 10 years. When you're in close quarters for a week a lot of topics come up. One was about making another Girl Gang quilt.

When the shop where we used to meet closed a few years ago, we stopped getting the annual Girl Gang pattern. I didn't know if Jan Patek was still offering ...

After almost a year of Covid isolation, and then another year of being hesitant to get back out into the world, I think I'm just going to keep hanging out at home and get some serious sewing done.  I'm already used to being inside, I might as well get something done.  I must have been in a good mood and feeling energetic the other day when I wrote down my goals for 2022, because it ended up being quite a list!  In addition to my "regular" goals, I have twelve quilty goals.  Everything from "sewing every day" to ...

New year, new start! Let's hope I get this renewed energy to finally get back to some sewing. I'm missing not sewing but don't seem to have any energy or time for it since we moved. I'm hoping that a few little projects might help me to get back into the saddle...

I'm not sure how much sewing I should plan while my sewing space is not set up, hoping that this is the only reason why I haven't been able to do hardly anything in the last few months... but on the other hand, maybe it would help to have define projects to work on... 

Anyway, beyond continuing to settle in our house and new environment, let's join Yvonne's Planning Party and look at what would be nice to achieve this year...

So my morning hasn't gone quite as planned. I slept in - a LOT. I must STOP watching those darn baking shows as they keep me up later than usual, and I woke up in the night for a couple of hours. Hence, I'm tired this morning. 

I was a bit miffed because I thought my first presentation was at 10 AM, and I had some work to prep, but it's at 1 PM, so I'm good! However, I do have a quilt to quilt today and to pack for the retreat. 

We had a great time ...

My sewing space is still nowhere near ready to be set up and there are still lots to do/set up before there's time to play.... Maybe I will finally find the time (and energy) to move my nearly finished along?

  I really doubt my sewing machine will make it out of her box before the end of the month sadly, my sewing space is nowhere near ready to be set up and there are much bigger priorities to deal with. Maybe I will at least find the time to work on some hand sewing projects, as long as I can locate the necessary supplies....

FWIW, online classes are a necessity given our current global pandemic state. I know I've mentioned that I'm not necessarily a fan, but remember when I said how much I clicked the "Buy Now" button? This was the result of one of those moments.

I've done some collage work and while I like it, I think my technique can be improved. I subscribe to Emily Taylor's (Collage Quilter) (NAYY) newsletter and she offered in... November? December? a free online class showing how to use her method to create her Winter Cardinal pattern ...

 March, really? Well, after over 2 months of all of us at home (working and schooling), we should finally get a minimal sense of normality again when the kids return to school on 8th. It will so good for everyone really. They will finally have proper lessons again and mix with their peers and their teachers. They desperately need the interactions and the education. As for us, we will have a breather during their school day and it should be much easier to concentrate on a task without interruptions. Not too mention that the amount of cooking I will need ...
