SEW MAGICAL Trunk Show from Made By Marney

I am super excited to share my newest book, SEW MAGICAL. This paper piece book is FANTASTICAL!

SEW MAGICAL

The 16 mystical blocks in this book are amazing. I can’t wait to see what you will do with them. Here are some of the things I came up with, and all of the directions for sewing these projects are included in the book.

Lap Quilt

This adorable lap quilt is so versatile. You can add any of the blocks from the book to create your own masterpiece quilt.

Backpack

This super sweet Backpack would make the nicest gift for ...

Paper Pieced Garden Gnome from Made By Marney

I am obsessed with paper pieced gnomes. They are so stinkin’ cute!

This is my newest Gnome pattern: GNOME WITH A BIRD. I call him my “garden gnome”, so he would make a great Spring or Summer project. But he could also be holding a red cardinal for a winter project.

GNOME WITH MUSHROOMS is another cute block. I used this block in a small sofa pillow. His nose could be a button, or made from fabric. I used a small wooden plug (like a carpenter would use) hot glued to the finished block.

This Gnome is in my newest ...

Dreaming of Spring from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

My dad had a family of gnomes that graced the front of his house many years ago. I actually made them in ceramics class and I know that he loved them. We all loved them. Unfortunately they disappeared one night, dad was so sad that someone would take them. I remember driving around our little town looking for them. I'm sure some high school kids thought it would be funny to take them as a prank. When ever I see gnomes, I think of the set that I made for mom and dad. I love garden gnomes. I have ...

Finished Gnome from Thread Head

This is the first time I have made such a tiny sweater!

It is for the new mystery gnome form Imagined Landscapes - Gnome Is Where You Hang Your Hat.

Another really fun mystery knit.

It is knit out of fingering weight, handspun yarn (that I dyed).

The next project is one that I did the grafting on.

My Mother knitted another mohair and silk cowl, this time for me. The yarn is from Japan, and the pattern is the Obsessio Cowl by Laura Nelkin.

My travel knitting is going well. I am using some hand dyed, handspun silk and linen ...

Woven Fabric from Thread Head

I finished weaving fabric for my Mom.

I ended up with over 6.5 yards of fabric, that is 18" wide. It should be plenty to make 6 chair cushions.

I didn't have too much loom waste.

Fresh off the loom it was about 7 yards and 19" wide.

This is the fabric fresh off the loom. I was so surprised how different the two sides looked when I took the fabric off the loom - the side I saw while weaving was the plainer side (it didn't seem that plain when I was weaving it). I don't ...

CHRISTMAS SEWING from Q-BITS

Not a lot of Christmas sewing this year.  I did make a wool lap throw that turned out to be more work than I planned.  More on that after Christmas.

BUT,  Pinterest inspired me to try a simple Christmas sewing craft.  I didn't have a pattern so I made my own in the size I wanted.  It is basically a paper-pieced log cabin block, that is then cut diagonally to make into halves forming two bodies.  By adding hat fabrics to each diagonal cut forms two 7" squares.  Next, add batting and a backing; embellish with buttons; and fold ...

Gnomies from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

I have always loved gnomes and have them tucked all about my home. I love them just as much as snowmen, shhhh maybe more. Gnomes remind me of my dad who had a large set of garden gnomes that used to decorate the front of our house, (until some scrooge took them. I hope those mischievous gnomes play many tricks of whom ever has them now.) What I love about gnomes is that you can leave these guys up all year round! I drew up a set of three that I put on a tea towel. They turned out adorable ...
