Grieving With Gratitude from Cheryl Lynch Quilts

This is the end of the road for the "TEXT IT!" blog hop.

Sherri Noel has included such fun projects. The other bloggers made such  wonderful interpretations.  I chose to make the sewing machine pad. Below is the photo from the book.

It was perfect for this adorable new fabric that I had just bought at Stitch Central..

I had to widen the sewing pad a little to fit the panel, but it came out so cute.

It's the most adorable fabric.   It's also available with cats. I just love the flower bouquets in their hair.

Do you ...

I’m so tickled that Sylvia Schaefer of Flying Parrots Quilts asked me to review her new book. She has done an amazing job of providing step-by-step instructions on how to design quilts using negative space.

The book walks you through nine design techniques. The techniques range from removing parts of quilt blocks to supersizing quilt blocks. With these techniques, Sylvia makes ...

March project and this month’s giveaway sponsor from The Crafty Quilter

I love picking out my project for each month’s UFO & WIP Challenge.  For March, I have chosen two projects to work on (which I might regret when it gets down to the end of the month).

The first one is to sew the binding on my block of the month quilt from 2013 (a Fat Quarter Shop Mystery BOM).  I got this back from the quilter last month and it’s time to finish it off with binding.  I stalled for a while because I didn’t have enough fabric for the binding, so it’s going to be ...

Blooming Bear Tracks {Home Grown Hop with Benartex} from Little Bunny Quilts

Today I'm excited to wrap up the month of February by showing off some secret sewing that I have been working on all month!

Welcome to my stop on the Home Grown Hop!

There are certain designers that I *always* jump at the chance to play with their lovely fabrics -- and Nancy Halvorsen is one of them! Before I was deep into quilting myself, my mom was already a quilter and one of her favorite designers has long been Nancy Halvorsen and passed on her love to me!

This fabric line is fun and cheery and includes some great ...

Giveaway Celebrating Love! from Repro Quilt Lover

Happy February, the month of pink and red, hearts and chocolates and lots to love about love. Also, it’s my first giveaway since relaunching my blog. Keep reading for information on how to enter.

Red and white heart quilt

This quilt is from a design Cheri Payne published on her blog in January 2015. Cheri was an incredibly talented, creative and generous quilter and designer with a charming, homey and warm aesthetic. Her quilts just said “Welcome! You can get cozy here” to me. When I saw this quilt with her touch of embroidery, I got excited. When I saw she was then giving ...

cross stitch - Kindness & Fortitude: A Quaker Sampler from Modern Folk Embroidery by Lucy Brennan

Those quiet moments in the evening, a few stitches on my lunch break, this pick up and put down project is slowly coming to life. It is a soothing, mindful way to relax and all the colours together look very peaceful and calming to me.

cross stitch - Kindness & Fortitude: A Quaker Sampler from Modern Folk Embroidery by Lucy Brennan

I knew that the Kindness & Fortitude: A Quaker Sampler from Modern Folk Embroidery was going to be the first project I started in 2019. It was no coincidence that my word for the year is FORTITUDE, I did chose this pattern partly for that reason but also because it appealed to me ...

House Warming Present {IB Amabassador Goodies 2019} from Little Bunny Quilts

As you may know, my husband and I recently bought a house and have spent the majority of January packing, moving, sorting, and unpacking. However, you might appreciate that the first package that arrived at the house wasn't anything for the house -- it was my first Island Batik Ambassador box for 2019!

Because we had so much to do, it sat in the living room for about 5 days before I had the time and space to open up the box!

Here are all of the fabric goodies I received:

From approximately left to right:
-half yard cuts of ...

It's Giveaway Time! from Wendy's Quilts and More

This giveaway has closed now.

Great news! It's five years since I started blogging, so I've decided to run a giveaway to celebrate.

First a bit of history.
I started my blog a way to record my finishes, and share them with friends and family.  I never expected to make so many friends through blogging, or to eventually meet so many of them in real life!

My first blog header back in 2014

The main purpose of my blog is still to record my finishes, and that's why I keep my writing simple and let the photos ...

Desert Blooms Quilt with BluPrint from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

I think I must be sleep walking and will be waking up from a dream at any moment… Please pinch me! I am so happy to present my newest pattern that I developed for BluPrint. I call it Desert Blooms. It expresses my great love affair with the Sonoran Desert I live in. After I created these blocks for this quilt, all I could see were the characteristics of different cacti. As I developed the pattern further, I fell in love with them and decided to name the pattern Desert Blooms because when I am hiking, I am immersed in ...

Peacock Party - and the winners from Wendy's Quilts and More

Thank you to everyone who entered my giveaway.  It was lovely to hear from so many of you, and surprising to hear about your favourite fabric designers.

I haven't counted up the responses, but if I did, I suspect that Alison Glass might be the most popular fabric designer!  I'm slightly surprised by that, but can understand why people who love her fabrics might be reading my blog.  Alison designs with bright colours and I do use a lot of bright colours myself.

Get Away – Storm at Sea from Carol Lyles Shaw

Get Away is the Island Batik Blog Hop theme for January 2019. And, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to make Storm at Sea, a traditional block–but I ended up altering it in a modern way.

First…the Fabrics! My fabrics are from the Soul Song Collection by Island Batik.

This collection goes from brights to muted black/cream.

I decided to use these fabrics shown below in the project–you’ll see why in a moment.

I used these Island Batik Soul Song fabrics and added an Island Batik neutral called Whip Cream.
I love the words ...
