Blue and White book and a giveaway from Moda Lissa

It is never too late to share these beautiful quilts in the latest book series from Martingale Publishing, Blue and White.

The book’s release date was perfectly timed with Pantone’s color of the year release.

Don’t know how that happened, great minds or coincidence, probably both.

Country Surprise by Nancy Mahoney.

Nancy is a very prolific designer. She is a Bernina ambassador, has done several books on paper piecing, is published in magazines, teaches online and on cruises.

This one is mine!

The subheading of the book is 13 remarkable quilts with Timeless Appeal, so I planned ...

Celebrating Five Years—With a Giveaway! from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

About a week ago, Kara and I (Teri) celebrated the fifth birthday of our small creative company, Through the Needle's Eye. And by celebrating, I mean we were busy working on new patterns and designs, because that's what we do!

Since our trip to Williamsburg and Kara's return to Germany, we have both been working to complete our fourth blocks of the Woodland Reverie quilt. We are itching to get to our next blocks, but a few other projects are taking precedence.

Woodland Reverie blocks, displayed at the Academy of Appliqué

Beginning to gather materials for a ...

Good Karma Sew-A-Thon from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

It is on!!! A call was made, and a challenge has been accepted. Now is the time to sew, sew, sew — and what better excuse is there to sew when you can do it while making a difference! My niece’s best friend Mason called me asking for my help. He explained to me that his dad was a doctor in NM, and they are worried that they will not have enough masks for their patients. He sent me a video on how to make them and a PDF pattern template from the Turban Project; and he said other than ...

Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge 2020!! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

"What does love look like?
It has the hands to help others.
It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy.
It has eyes to see misery and want.
It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men.
That is what love looks like."

Hi, all!

It seems fitting that with all the turmoil and confusion in the world these days, one thing is constant - the desire of quilters to make quilts to comfort those in need. So there's really no better time for us to join together once again than right now, when ...

Fun on Friday! Giveaway! from Humble Quilts

It's been awhile since I've had a giveaway and I am ready to pass these two magazines (which seem like books!) along. I'll draw one name from the blog and one name from the facebook group. Feel free to comment both places for a better chance to win.

This is the Michigan issue, including Gwen Marston, before she passed away. I've never spent any time in Michigan but after reading this issue I'd like to go!

This is an older Australian magazine chock full of lovely projects.

And look what came in the mail yesterday ...

Wandering Around: Mayfair from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Mayfair_banner_600px

Hello Fabric Lovers,

Our newest collection called Mayfair by Amy Sinibaldi takes you straight to London! Inspired by the neighborhood of the same name in Central London. A small interesting fact, the name Mayfair comes from a 17th-Century springtime celebration once held in that area. In this lovely collection, fabric patterns range from small dainty to big and expressive florals. Pastel to deep rich tones. Super versatile and perfectly suited for upcoming seasons like spring and summer.

Reminiscing on her visits to Shepherd Market, Piccadilly, Hyde Park, and Covent Garden. Amy sketched the flower-filled neighborhoods that surrounded her beloved hotel ...

BlockHeads- ZEST from Moda Lissa

We were working on our Blockheads blocks back in December, which seems so long ago. I watched the Gringe with my grandkids many times over the holidays, and we often talked about having a big heart. I named the block ZEST for great enthusiasm and energy and, of course, a big heart.

Here is the link to the pattern download. But wait, there is more past the download!

This block is so simple that I had to play around with all kinds of options.
My 4″ block is half and half.

As I have done in my other blockheads’ posts ...

Farmhouse Fresh book tour and giveaway from Moda Lissa

I am obsessed about everything Farmhouse. ( thank you Joanna Gaines)

Love the fresh look.

Love the timeless style.

Love the classic simplicity.

I have hunted for vintage grain sacks/ toweling and paid big bucks for it. When Moda started making toweling many years ago it became a basic but people still asked what do I do with it? Moda’s toweling is available by the yard, hemmed on 2 sides and assorted designs
and fabric weights.

In steps Jenelle Kent, taking toweling to a whole new level as shown in her new book, Farmhouse Fresh.

Adding appliqué is just one ...

Five Fabulous Quilting Fads – Right Now. from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

What are fellow quilters making? Why are these designs and fabrics so popular? Are these trends new or are traditional styles making a comeback?

Don’t worry, we’ve found the answers. We’ve taken a close look into the world of quilting to find out what’s trending. Here are are the top five:

1. Stars

From Memorial Day to Veterans Day, a star quilt can find itself taking center stage all throughout the year and when we aren’t stocked up on red, white, and blue; quilters find stars to be quite innovative. Five points or ten, stars ...

Flannel Blankets and a Trash to Treasures Giveaway from Needle and Foot

I recently had a conversation with the chairperson of our Community Service team within our local quilt guild. We were talking about the recipients of the quilts we make and the quantity of quilts she had available. The discussion came around to our local Children’s Protective Services team. This team includes officers of our Sherrif’s Department who have the very sad task of removing children from home’s where they are not in good, safe situations.

These officers like to carry blankets in the trunk of their cars so they can wrap up a child if needed when ...

Twin Size Quilts & a Winner from Heart Desire Creations

Each year at the Quilt & Sew-in Retreats, the retreaters sew blocks that are then put together for Hospice quilts. This spring, however we’ll be putting twin size quilt tops together for another great cause – Snuggled in Hope Quilts. They accept quilt tops for volunteers to quilt and/or tie and bind. The quilts are then sent to Flying Horse Farms, which is a camp in Mt. Gilead, Ohio for children with serious illnesses and is part of Paul Newman’s Serious Fun Network Camps. Thank you to Kayla, a beautiful young woman who attends the Quilt & Sew-In Retreats for ...

Celebrating Nature's Beauty: Earthen Fabrics from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Earthen_banner_600pxWelcome to a new decade, fabric lovers! Can you believe it's the year 2020? That sounds like something very far in the future, yet here we are still making beautiful handmade things. I hope everyone had a lovely holiday and is ready for a fresh start! I've been seeing a lot of new sewing challenges for this year, the most popular being sewing 20 projects in 2020—what a clever challenge! I'd love to start that challenge as well, especially since I will have my hands on all upcoming collections for AGF. Now, I am excited to ...
