Not to toot my own horn..... from Appalachian Quilts

... but *TOOT TOOT*!  Remember the soap I told you I was formulating for Hubs?  I named the base recipe "Generation X".  He was complaining about dry skin, especially his hairy little legs, after showering.  He was even developing a little dry patch in the small of his back.  I had put a little too much fragrance oil in it so the batch seized a little, but it was still good.  We cut into it this weekend and started using it Saturday.  OMG!  What a difference!  I have always slathered myself with lotion to keep my skin hydrated...pretty much for ...

Hi everyone, and welcome to my stop on the Holiday Tales and Traditions blog hop! Bernie at Needle and Foot organized this hop to spread a little holiday cheer. I know this holiday is different from all the others, and at least some of us are having a bit of a time this season. It's been a hard year, so let's pull up a chair, grab a cup of whatever you like, and share some happy stories of our holiday traditions. At the end of my post today, there is a small giveaway just to spread a little ...

Blockheads- Block 49 from Moda Lissa

Welcome everyone and thank you for taking a break in your Holiday shopping and planning to visit my blog for my last block installment in the BLOCKHEADS 3 series. I have a story to tell and if you make it all the way to the end there is also a chance to win a Layer Cake, so here goes.

Back in October of 2019 when we were planning Blockheads each of the designers all sent in their sketches. I am a big fan of anything plus mark and so I included a sketch. Then came 2020 and it has gone ...

A gift of Free Autumnal Tulip Applique Templates Thru Christmas Day 2020! from Quilty Folk

Autumnal Tulips is a true blue finish now! This has been such a sweet quilt to work on, I almost didn't want it to be finished up. How is it that some quilts start out so impulsively but then somehow end up being an all time fave?

The finished quilt

This is a quilt that has generated quite a bit of interest, here and also on Pinterest {not that I follow any of that very closely}. Surprisingly, a couple people have also requested a pattern.

Guess Who, Then and Now from Needle and Foot

Post Update: Well, as continued evidence that the quilting community is nothing but totally generous I received a few emails this morning and want to share them with you. First I got one from Sarah, the third place winner. She actually tied with Preeti from Sew Preeti Quilts. Sarah asked me to split the prize between them and send the charm pack to one and the quilt pattern to the other. Of course, I thought this was great and told her so. Then I received an email from Emily of The Darling Dogwood. Emily was one of the bloggers who ...

Guess Who! from Needle and Foot

Today you are all invited to play a little game. In recent months the news has been filled with problems, politics and pandemics. Enough with such seriousness. We need to lighten things up a bit. So I thought I would host a game called Guess Who!

I invited a number of quilt bloggers to send me a picture of themself as a child. There is quite the mix of bloggers participating. You are likely to be familiar with many of them, but some might be new to you. Here are the rules to this very challenging game. (Haha – really, this ...

A Name, a Backing & Give-away from Heart Desire Creations

Connected! Thank you for all the suggestions and positive comments. After seeing this name, it became so obvious to me – why didn’t I think of that? I like that it has a positive vibe. After having named this quilt, I was inspired to connect with friends near and far that I hadn’t communicated with most of this year. We have been staying close to home and realized how easy it is to totally disconnect. No more!

Looks a mess, but will be fine after a really good pressing.

Of course, this quilt needed a backing. There was a ...

Holiday Project, A Partridge in a Pear Tree from Needle and Foot

Just popping in with a quick update. I have something new in the shop and I am really loving it. Recently I opened an account and started carrying Northcott Fabrics. In case you were not aware, they make tons of fun panels. I don’t use a whole lot of panels but my customers have shown me the light. Some of them are really cute and make for a fun, quick finish.

Thinking of holiday gifts, I thought this would be a great one to have in the shop. With the panel, a bit of lining and some Insul Bright ...

halloween hoppin day three . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

It's the last day *and* my day, YAY!

When I first read the criteria of this hop — I’m going to make this really simple this year, I’d love to see a project with “Purple” in it, but seriously I’ll be happy also if it doesn’t …What’s Halloween tho without a bit of purple? You are free to make something new, or show a past project you’ve created — I knew this was a hop for ME!  Anyone that knows me, knows I love purple! All you have to do is look at a few ...

Winner of the Snowy Truck panel from Quilt Girls from Carried Away Quilting

Well, this couldn't be more timely.  Today is the day I announce the winner of the Snowy Truck quilt panel from the sweet folks at Quilt Girls, and just take a look at the winter wonderland outside my sewing room window.  As we say in Minnesota, "Uff da!"

Sure, freshly fallen snow clinging to the boughs of an evergreen tree is a sight to behold. However, I don't think the pumpkin sitting on my front step is very impressed. He has been completely smothered by a blanket of white fluff!

Let's move on to happier thoughts.  The ...

to do: new project box and giveaway from Making A Lather

I decided it was time to sort another project box. This one was a bit confusing. I am trying to be very hard core on making decisions, but, it is very difficult for me not to finish everything I come across, or rather, to believe I will finish everything. But, reality, says otherwise.

I have labels on the boxes to help figure out what I was planning. Still, The black elastic doesn't appear to belong to anything in the box.hmmmm

I don't remember where I bought this panel, but, I loved it. I have had it in ...

Morrison Park Tour and FREE BLOCK from Want It, Need It, Quilt It!

I hope you have been enjoying Pat Sloan’s Morrison Park tour. Unfortunately, the fabric could not make its way across the seas to the great Southern land so, I had to improvise. I had fun re-colouring my patterns using the rich colours of Morrison Park. There are so many gorgeous prints to play with it...
