pick a pumpkin winner . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I PROMISE am almost sure that this will be the last post that begins with "pick a pumpkin" . . . at least for another year!! It was a nice solid run of seven. :)

I had the random number generator do my dirty work and it pulled number 36.  Congratulations to Karen of Tu-Na Quilts, Travels, and Eats!  Karen, I'll send you an email to get your particulars.  :)

So I did bake a batch of those Ginger Spice Cookies I blogged about yesterday. Oh they are SO good!
I like the ones rolled in the chunky colored sugar best . . .
Isn't that ...

Red and white quilt book winner from Moda Lissa

Friday was a 12 hour whirlwind of a day at Quilt Festival. Several of the Moda team hopped on the first flight out of Dallas for the 50 minute flight to Houston. While we had all been in Houston for Market the week before, it was time to go and see all the festival shops.
Our first stop was to rush to Lisa Bongean at Primitive Gatherings. I had to get some of her new rulers that are designed to cut stems.

Have you seen Lisa’s rugs made using mini charm packs? Perfect Christmas presents!

Pattern available at your ...

A Very Yellow Post from Quilty Folk

I have so enjoyed hand quilting on Quarter Circles Round #2. There's just something about this bold, in-your-face yellow quilt that makes me smile. Today has seen the first stage of the binding sewn on and surprisingly, {at least to me}, it's going to be red. Two striped pieces of homespun straight from the stash.

Ready for binding
More and more, I pull binding fabrics from the stash. Even if I have to use four to six fabrics? Who cares. I certainly don't! It just helps to add charm and homemade flavor to many quilts.

Next up ...

Striking a New Chord: Sonata Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Thomas-kinto-1086141-unsplash

At the age of five, I began learning classical piano. Every week, I'd have a piano lesson with my piano teacher and learned to play songs from all "the greats" like Mozart, Bach, Chopin....but my absolute favorite composer's songs to play was "Ludwig van Beethoven." His songs were moody and felt like they just had soul (no offense to the other talented composers), I just connected to his music the most, and his "Moonlight Sonata" became my favorite song to play on the piano..still is today! One of the main reasons I love it so much ...

And the winning name is... from Butterfly Threads

Candy Crossing

The winning name for the quilt was overwhelming. And while I loved every suggestion (some of you are really creative!) I said I would go with the winner, and CANDY CROSSING got over 50 per cent of the vote. So we didn't even need a run off!

I've emailed the free pattern to each of the people who voted in the comments on this blog. However, there were almost a dozen of you who are 'no reply' commentors. Which means, I couldn't reply to you to send your free pattern! If you voted and didn ...

Happy Birthday Sale! from Needle and Foot

Today I celebrate my 58th birthday – how that has come to be, I cannot explain.  Isn’t time the strangest phenomenon?  The older I get, the more quickly it buzzes by.  When I was young I would wish for the next age or stage.  In seventh grade my mother allowed us to begin shaving our legs and wearing panty hose.  At 12 or 13 (?) we were allowed to get our ears pierced.  Of course there is driving at 16, a very exciting rite of passage and voting at 18 (are we all voting in the upcoming election??).  I married at ...

Garden Star One Quilt Pattern Re-Release from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

The Fabric

Are you ready for a blast from the past?? I found the sweetest floral line called Lemonade Sundae for this Garden Star One quilt. I love the vintage vibe of the fabric line. I feel like it’s from the thirties. My heart just sings when I look at it! Heart Flower Green is my favorite fabric from the line. There is just something about that green. I love that color so much, I even have green heels in that same color (LOL). The brilliant creator of this line is Leonie Bateman; she designs for Penny Rose Fabrics ...

Voile and Simplicity 1589; A New Blouse from Needle and Foot

When I was in Vermont in early September, I took along a number of sewing projects to work on.  One of those was a piece of pretty voile (designed by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabric) and a blouse pattern.  I haven’t used voile before and wanted to try it out.  In case you aren’t familiar, voile is a lightweight cotton with a higher thread count making it softer and sort of flowy (is that a word?).  It washes well and can be used for garments or quilting.  Anyway, I thought I would give it a try.  One ...

Gone Batty Quilt and Pattern Release from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

Welcome to my Birthday Bash Month. I will be sharing fun things with you the whole month of October, like new patterns, giveaways, tutorials and more. Yes. It’s true, I was born on Halloween. Although my mother wished, hoped, and most likely prayed that I wouldn’t be born on that day, I was. She feared that I would be called a witch, or worse, so she proactively dressed me as a pumpkin for the holiday. I grew to love my birthday and all it had to offer. Things like candy, funny songs, school carnivals, and dressing up as ...

Falling for Fall: Autumn Vibes Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Happy Fall, Ya'll!

Hope you're as excited as I am with this new season that's finally here!

Hands down, fall is my favorite time of year, even though we're here in Florida where we don't really have seasons..minus hurricane season! I still like to pretend the leaves change color and force myself to wear "cozy layers" despite the humidity. There's something so festive about this time of year that's super exciting! It's that time when you get to gather with your family and friends, eat a ton of pumpkin-flavored foods, continue ...
