Gifted Quilts & Pillows from The Cloth Parcel

If it feels like it’s been awhile since we have shared the projects we’re working on, that’s because it has! We spent the last several months working on a large project that we can’t share yet, so it looks like there’s not much happening. Rest assured we have been hard at work! One thing that […]

IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR! from That's Sew Kerry

Especially when you get Great Presents!

It's no secret I have an addiction to fabric - so this is always a sure win when buying a present for me, but as a quilter I quite often get asked what 'good presents' to buy are. So I thought I'd put together a little list of things that have caught my eye recently or that I generally can't do with out in case anyone was struggling with what to buy for the quilter/sewer/crafter in their life.

This is not sponsored or affiliated in any way, simply my opinions ...

Kicking off the holiday season. from QUilting By-You

It feels a little anti-climactic. I’m sure you are missing your usual family traditions this year as well. Although In recent years I have been spending more time online shopping rather than standing in Black Friday lines.

How are you supplementing your family traditions this year? We are encouraging the kids to be more involved in the planning part. They are working up plans for the outside Christmas lights this year so that should be interesting.

I think what I will miss most this year is Homemade Christmas. It’s not an every year thing but it happens regularly ...

Tunic Dress for My Mom from Tea Rose Home

I sewed this tunic dress for my mom in Japan. I was supposed to go visit my family in Japan in April, but COVID happened... My trip had to be canceled and who knows when the next time will be when I get to go visit her. In the last so many months, something terrible and devastating happened to my family and I know it will take a long time to resolve the issues. There isn't much I can do right now to help the situation, but I am thinking about them often; especially my mother.

I remembered that ...

Pattern Hack from Daisychain Quilter

I really enjoy making a flat zipper case.  I have made a lot over the year to sell at craft fairs.
So it was one of the first patterns written for Bon Couture Designs.  At Bon Couture Designs, we have decided that we need to make some new samples for our social media platforms.
I made this smaller zipper case to keep all my drawing pens safe when I am out and about and to take away to France in the summer.  I love to do quick sketches of places, floral and beach inspirational things when I am on holiday ...

OPAM February from Daisychain Quilter

I am on a roll with the 'end of season' or gift box thingy.  See my last OPAM post. This purse key fob is ideal if only want to carry a key and a few coins on a trip to the shops, on the school run or dog walking.
There are few pattern tutorial for these project on the internet. Another great sash busting projects.

I have started another sewing project that I have again seen on Instagram.  I am still tweaking with the measurements.  When I have finished I will post about it...

OPAM January 2020 from Daisychain Quilter

I really enjoyed getting started on this year seasonal gift projects.  I am planning to make at least one item for the 'end of year season'.  For some crafters it is tooooooo early to mention the word Christmas.
Not me, I am getting an early start with this Santa Wine Bottle Topper.  These are very popular on Instagram.
Everyone needs a key fob.  It is a great way to using up all my scraps. I will probably make a whole bunch off these key fobs for my Etsy shop and well as for my gift box.  It is always handy ...

Baby girl quilt

After a very long absence from my blog, I am back with the last quilt I achieved.
It was a very easy and quick baby quilt to complete, though hand quilted.
I started end of September and finished beginning of November, just in time before flying to Paris :
last stitches the night before!

This quilt is a gift for my niece who decorated the bedroom of her future daughter using very soft colors. I first intended to sew a quilt using my beloved Liberty fabrics but, after I received the pictures of the wallpapers, I put them away and decided ...

Christmas Gift from Daisychain Quilter

I designed this Christmas gift for a auntie.  I try every year to make this relative a gift as I know she likes the personal touch.
I have an ever increasing fabric stash.  My favourite fabrics, which happens to be most of my stash, is so precious I plan only to use them for special projects.
This is the silly reason my fabric stash is increasing in size!
I also took the opportunity to write up instructions for this design as a pdf pattern as well as using for teaching workshops
I am delighted to say this gift has been ...

Another homemade Christmas from Quilt in Progress

I asked the mothers of my 7 grandchildren about Christmas, and got requests for doll clothes, pajama pants, and nightgowns. Of course!

First request was from the oldest granddaughter. She wanted Christmas pjs and a volleyball uniform for her 18″ doll. In searching online for what the uniform would look like, I noticed long sleeves and a tighter fit all around. Her school’s colors are red and black but I could not find a photo of the girls’ volleyball team online. I made the uniform out of 2 new-looking sports shirts I found at thrift stores.

I used my ...

Another Christmas Gift from Daisychain Quilter

I am busying trying to get everything stitched and posted ready for Santa to deliver on the big day.

This is a pattern that you can cut and sew within a hour.
This is a single bottle bag. This is a pattern I designed for our Bon Couture Design Etsy shop. The pattern is for a double bottle bag. I have altered the size.
I love making gifts for family and friends. I spend a lot of time choosing patterns and fabrics especially for each person.  I often start planning in the spring but usually never start stitching until a ...

Lavender Llama, hot/cold plush tutorial from The Crafty Quilter

Extra hour from Quilt in Progress

I used my extra hour today to get in a little sewing. I am done with the first round of treatments for the cancer, so no more steroid, and no more insomnia sewing. I have to be intentional about it now.

I decided to purchase the ribbon for the zebra stripe, and applique it to the fabric. It is not double-sided, so I had to get creative to make it look so. The zebra is part of a baby animal safari print I had bought at Jo Ann Fabrics several years ago, to decorate my classroom according to the Safari ...

Look How They Shine For You from Girl x Fabric

Previously I talked about starting my Jaybird journey with Gazebo.  With that done, I’m on to Night Sky. Like Gazebo, this is much simpler than it looks.  Night Sky uses the Sidekick ruler, which has a bunch of lines all over it as well. But once you understand how it works and use it, it’s... Mickey Mouse Quilt - still a WIP from living, quilting and stuff

Mickey Mouse is back in the box, for a few weeks anyway. I have the top completed except for the borders. I will add a 4" black border with a narrow red flange. Some Mickey panels and leftover Mickey prints should fill the back.

This will be a gift for a friend who has been asking for it for 10 years... "Mickey, but not that slut Minnie"

The delay is only because other commitments are taking me away from my sewing studio for a month. (panic!!)
