Not A Day For Crafts from Quilting My Way

This morning I was up and playing games. Patrick went to get doughnuts this morning. I took my time getting ready.

Then it was a cold day. So, really, really didn't feel like doing much. Play games and just relax.

Once I did get moving, I started adding the BIRGE family information into Patrick's tree. Since it's not a direct line, I decided after putting about 100 names in, that I would call it good. I found a few more names to add with what I had. So, I had to write notes to myself to make ...

Another Saturday Gone from Quilting My Way

This morning I was up early and playing on games. When Patrick got up, I got moving again.

Patrick needed my help lifting some pots outside to put in the front yard. I got those moved and then decided I wanted to work on my beading.

I was able to get a good 5 rows done. I'm now at 423/580. This is on the glass container, so it looks a little lopsided. I'm getting closer to getting the head done. I love the way this looks. I think there might be another bird coming but not for ...

Meeting Day from Quilting My Way

This morning I was up and ready to go to our embroidery meeting. As it turned out, it was just Sandy and I. I would have liked to have seen more there, but they tend to have appointments on our meeting days lately. Hoping we can get this going once a week, so we can keep the group going. Otherwise, we may be stopping the group - which I hope we don't.

I worked on the Wild Orchards pattern.

I worked on the "feelers" on this piece. I added the beads. Then I started on the stem area. I'm ...

Early Morning from Quilting My Way

This morning we were up and out of the hotel by 5 am. Dropped Patrick off and headed home. We were back home by 7 am. Katt and I picked up breakfast at McDonald's here in town.

We then waited for calls from the hospital. The good news is that everything went well and he's doing good. Went as expected.

Katt and I played games. Then I fixed supper. We didn't do the walking that we did yesterday. We actually walked 3.5 miles. Today we just stayed home.

I was able to get 2 rows of ...

Not A Good Day from Quilting My Way

I was lucky to get about 4 hours sleep last night. My neck and shoulder are in major pain. I had Patrick put a hot and cold pack on it, but it's really not helping. I took a "tension" pill that isn't working either. So, I spent the day watching some shows that I had taped. Patrick went golfing.

I haven't felt like doing anything all day. My shoulder is killing me. Doesn't like my moving around. AND it's my left side, so being left handed doesn't help.

I did do my FlossTube today ...

Alone Again… Naturally from Tink Squared

I like that crazy song. Gilbert someone or another sang it I think?

Jim left to go back to Georgia early yesterday morning. After lunch, I went over to my mom’s to help her with a few things, and when we were finished we played some Scrabble. Our first game began with both of us having a seven letter word, always fun!

When I got back home I took a few pictures of the new iris colors in bloom, as well as our spirea which are now in full bloom. Aren’t they gorgeous? They smell fabulous!

I’m ...

Working On Another Box from Quilting My Way

This morning I was playing a few games before getting moving.

When I did get moving, Patrick wanted to go for a walk to the golf course. I joined him. We chatted along the way. It was a nice walk. I've started to walk with him when I can. Yesterday he went walking while I was at moms.

I worked on my new computer after Patrick got it all set up for me. He's organized my files, and I like it. I didn't like have duplicate stuff. This way all my documents are on a file on ...

Shopping Day from Quilting My Way

Today we went up to Costco for shopping. I was looking at the computers they had. We had the list of what to look for from my son. I found 2 I liked. One was a brand I didn't know. The other was an HP that was cheaper. It had a little more than what was on the list. So, we decided to get it. This computer seems to be working okay right now. But it is time for another computer. We got up to the counter and gave the paper for the computer. They went to get it ...

Getting Things In Order from Quilting My Way

This morning Faye and Debbie came over so I could get them set up on all the stuff I do for QOV. Faye will do the presentation stuff and Debbie will do the collection of veterans needing quilts. I gave her a lot of my stuff so that while I'm having to deal with Patrick, they can keep QOV going for us. I still have the backing and batting here, so I can cut those when needed.

Then I went over to moms to visit with my niece. She came up for a visit with mom. They have the ...

Missing My Laptop from Quilting My Way

This morning I was up early. Pulled my tablet out and started checking genealogy.  I was working on a couple family members.  I was going between my ancestry account  and the wikitree account. I found a couple more family members.  I did find a name or two that were added on others accounts but I couldn't prove the information so didn't add them.

I started laundry.  I had to call Sharon and mom called. By the time my calls were over it was closer to 2 pm. Sharon needed some more beads. I had the one she wanted ...

On The "Down Low" Today from Quilting My Way

This morning I slept till 10 am. I just couldn't get up. The neighbor came by and Patrick chatted with him. At that time I decided I better get up.

I didn't do much all day. Just not in the mood. I did play a few games, but really couldn't get moving. I worked on "newspaper.com" for newspaper articles. I was surprised at some of the articles. It's amazing how long one takes to look at all that newspapers out there. I would love to share one of the articles that I found. John B ...

Working On Genealogy Today from Quilting My Way

This morning I had to get up earlier than usual. Sandy was coming over to work on beading or whatever. When she got her, she had some quilting stuff she was working on. She ended up cutting out some fabric for her designed wall hanging. She wanted to have it done by this weekend, don't think that will happen.

I worked on my beading, and didn't take a photo because I think one gets the idea of what I'm working on and about how far I've gotten. I'm to the houses, so will have the ...

Now What?! from Quilting My Way

I forgot to mention yesterday that I talked to Sharon. She was home. Apparently she had a TIA. I told her she was lucky because they know what to do now with stokes. The sooner the better. At least she's doing better.

Today was interesting. We headed to Costco in Olympia around 10 am. We really didn't have a lot to get, and the toilet paper we wanted wasn't in stock. No worries. We picked up stuff for us and Phil. It is fun to shop for Phil as well as us. Mom isn't around, so ...

FINALLY - A Movie!! from Quilting My Way

I'm loosing it! I was sleeping till 10:30 am this morning!! I couldn't believe it. Reminded me of being in HS when I slept on weekends till noon or 1 pm. Funny how my parents didn't seem to mind till 1 pm.

I got started on roasting garlic for garlic bread. I didn't have a lot of time to do that. So, about 30 mins before leaving for the theater I was getting the bread ready to rise.

We headed out the door and went to the movie, "War With Grandpa." Loved it!! I laughed ...

A Day Of Errands from Quilting My Way

This morning we were up and out the door. We needed to do a few things. So, our first stop was at the church to pick up a quilt for QOV that they did. Next stop was at Phil's to drop off some stuff. He left us some cake too. We headed over to Michael's to get the Spring Cat framed. We were lucky because we took the frame we had from the Summer Cat and they had it on "clearance" so we got 70% off. I couldn't believe it would cost $450 if we didn't ...

Flexner Family Names on a Signature Quilt - Part 2 from Ann Quilts

You'll find the full backstory to this post on a post from April, 2018.  Here's a short summary.

Back in the 1980s, I'd found three people with my mother's maiden name, Flexner, on a 1910 fundraiser quilt at the museum in Kalona, Iowa.  They were not included in the genealogy that my mom knew, so we went exploring.  And after a circuitous and long route, I finally unearthed the answer:

My great-great-grandmother and the mother of the man named on the quilt were cousins.  They both had married men from the Flexner family.  So this quilt ...

What A Day! from Quilting My Way

Before noon today we were on the move.

First on the list was dropping off a quilt at the Grace church in town. They are helping us at QOV with quilting. Next top was the bank to drop of the water money. Once that was done we were on our way to Olympia where I had to get my Covid test done. (No, I don't have symptoms). They had me do the test, ugh. But I had to have it for my test on Thursday in Tacoma. And finally it was on our way home, first stopping for gas ...

Working On Family History.... from Quilting My Way

This morning I enjoyed the morning and early afternoon to myself. Patrick went golfing and I played games, vacuumed, and cleaned up a little.

Then it was time to work on some genealogy. I decided to get to work on Patrick's family.

I started out with his HOSMER family. It was so interesting! Then I got off on some of the other names in Patrick's family. There were the WARD's, SMITH's, HUBBARD's, and more. In working on the family history, one of his great grandfather's is know for "Father of Wisconsin." In my research ...

Finished Basting from Quilting My Way

This morning we were up early because we were expecting company. The window people came to measure the windows for us. Since they were to be here from 9-11 am, I wanted to be sure I was ready for them. Not that it mattered - Patrick took care of it all.

I went downstairs by 9:30 am. I was playing and basting at the same time. The Hawaiian quilt is now done! I can now get to work on appliqueing it.

I worked on this for about 3 hours. It's now finished and I'm happy to finally get ...

A Quieter Day Today from Quilting My Way

This morning I wasn't in the mood to do anything. So, I played.

Once I got moving, I decided to do laundry and vacuuming. It actually got me in the mood and I was ready to bead.

I was able to get another 6 rows in. I'm now at 139/580 done. I'm really enjoying this. I did have one row where I didn't put enough black beads on and had to take it out.

I listened to the book "We Were the Lucky Ones" by Georgia Hunter. It's a 15 hours audio book, but ...
