Fruits (cross stitch) from France Nadeau

Fruits (cross stitch) - francenadeau.com

The last raspberry has been stitched. My fruit cross stitch is now finished.

I have decided to place it into a frame. One of the benefits of frames is that they can also act as trays.

When not in use, it will stay just above my stove.

Below is a jasmine tea ball that opened into a little flower on a small stem. I may be the only one seeing it, though.

Fruits – week 9 from France Nadeau

Now that the bigger fruits are stitched, I am adding raspberries to fill the gaps. Because I used whole embroidery flosses to make the cross stitches (6 strands), the Aida cloth in between the fruits is wrinkled. Adding more fruits resolves this annoying problem.

"Fruits and Flowers on the Lap" from Linda's Art Quilts

Hoorah, I just finished #3 on my 2017 New Year's resolution to revisit and finish old fabric and fiber friends

Years ago I cut a stack of 6 1/2" squares from fabrics that I very much liked and had full intention to make a quilt with them.  Did I?  No.  They merely "slept" on a shelf pining away for my overdue attention.  When I saw them again a couple of weeks ago, I vowed that there was no time like the present to start sewing them together.

This is no art quilt.  It is merely a warm 35 ...

Fruits – week 1 from France Nadeau

Fruits cross stitch - francenadeau.comFruits cross stitch - francenadeau.comFruits cross stitch - francenadeau.com

This is a cross stitch project I have started many years ago. I am following a pattern by Le Idees de Suzanna (Luglio-Agosto 1997). I chose to use the whole embroidery floss (the 6 strands), which create a tapestry-like texture. The downsize is that it requires more strength.  I worked diligently on it for some months before putting it aside. Now is a good time to finish it.

If you are wondering about the number of strands that are used in embroidery and cross stitch, you can read a post I wrote about it here.
