What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

Just in time for Christmas, I've received my new hand crafted quilt ladder.  Robin had found a plan to make one of these on the internet, and asked his Menz Shed builder friend for advice.  While he was in hospital getting his second knee replacement, and the subsequent eight weeks recovery time, Brian the builder took the job over for him.  He measured the timber, cut and assembled the ladder for Robin - how kind of him.  Once Robin could comfortably stand on his knee again, he took over the sanding and the wood staining.  And then brought it home ...

 This morning Debbie arrived around 10:30 and we headed out to Shelton. She wanted to show me the quilt shop out there. Annie's Quilt Shop - I think is the name. Anyway, we took a drive up there. 

Wow! That shop has a lot of stuff. The funny part is that you have to buy in 1 yard cuts. You can't get 1/4's, 1/2's, etc. I was okay with that.

 This morning I was up with Patrick. He headed off to golfing around 9:30 am since he would have to wait till around 10 am to go out. The frost hit last night, so they had to wait. I got a text around 11 saying he was still waiting. 

While I was walking, mom and Debbie called me. It was fun because I went through my walking so fast it didn't seem to bother me. I love to have someone to talk to while walking. Trouble is Ron is in CA right now. Debbie was picking me up ...

Our 40th Anniversary was fast approaching so we needed to decide how we wanted to celebrate.  I'm the social secretary in this household and after throwing a few ideas around, we decided on an Anniversary Trip, ending up in Rotorua.  This is where we spent our honeymoon, all those years ago!  But first, we needed to drive through to Ohaupo, Hamilton, the collect the caravan.  Our caravan Romany Rambler had been driven up to Leisureline Ohaupo just a week before Robin’s knee replacement operation, and left there for some work to be done.  They kindly stored it for ...

This morning I was up early and out the door before 8:15 am. It was Brazilian embroidery meeting day. They were really sweet and said they would start an hour early for me because I had the funeral to go to at 11 am. 

I arrived a little early to find Cindy and Gerilyn waiting to get started. Sandy came in just after that. Sandy won't be there for the next 2 weeks. Her husband surprised her with a weekend at the beach next week and then she is going back to Canada to see her sisters.

 Today I was up early. I wanted to get my cleaning done before I walked with Ron. Then I wanted to get the 3 quilts squared up to take to mom. As I was finishing my last lap around the block, Patrick came home. I got some lunch and headed out. 

First stop was to get a cake/pie at Safeway for Hildi. Then I stopped to get my Chai Tea at Dutch Brothers. Once that was done, I headed to moms. Nancy picked us up at moms. Then we headed out to Hildi's. She wanted us to see ...

 It’s a simple word, but it means so much.

Yes, we are now in our new home on top of the ridge.  We moved in the weekend of my 65th birthday. The last 5 months have been jam-packed with unpacking, cleaning, sifting through things we haven’t looked at in 3 years…and it’s glorious. 

And things are getting settled, slowly—we were only able to take 2 days off when we moved in April, and since then the only time we have had off was when our granddaughter stayed with us for 3 weeks—and that was ...

 This morning I was at Debbie's by 7:50 am and we headed down to Longview. I waited a good hour for her (she had an appointment). Said that was the first time she had to wait that long. I laughed and said that's because I'm with her. Plus I didn't take my bag to have something to work on. 

After her appointment we headed to JoAnn's because they had a good sale going on, I didn't buy anything but some floss. We couldn't find what we wanted, so we headed for Yelm ...

 Nope, not because of the weather. 

First things this morning, I needed to head to Connie's. She's looking good after her surgery. I stayed and chatted. Then I picked up some fabric while dropping off some white fabric for her. 

She had most of the Army fabric I needed. I was thrilled to find all this at her place. Now I can get moving on the panels that are Army. 

After that I headed to moms to drop off quilts and say hi to everyone before I left. I didn't want to say and really didn't ...

 This morning I didn't want to get up. Even though I was wide awake. I waited on Patrick and then got up. 

I worked on my exercises and then headed out for a walk. I got all my "Spice Cake" ingredients ready for when I came back. I was hoping Ron was out there but never did see him walking. Got my walking in and then got started on the cake. It's a Rum Cake. It was in the oven. 

Then Connie asked if she could come over and "shop." I told her "Sure." When she came, Patrick ...

I've had such a busy time out in the last week or so, one social outing after another.  And no, its not usually like that at all, everything just came at once.  We have been meeting up with a group of friends each month.  In the early years when we were much younger and fitter, we would go walking up and down hills, along the coast line, travel out out town for weekends away, visit gardens, exhibitions  and museums, all sorts of things.  As the years went by our numbers have dwindled as friends have passed away, and of ...

And HI THERE!  I know it’s been a while.  Life, and all that.  There’s a lot to catch up on and I will be making a few posts here and there.  Yes, we have moved into our new home and we are still getting settled.  I promise I’ll get you all caught up.  But first, I want to talk about patterns:

 Wednesday - Hump Day. I have been busy today with laundry, QOV, and beading. 

I started out with my exercises and walking. When I came back in the house, I was sweating! Then I received 2 tops from Sara Bower. I had to go downstairs and cut the backing and batting. Debbie needed some backing and batting for her quilt as well. I was able to wash the red backings, but not the blue one before Debbie showed up. 

We must have sat and chatted for a good 2 hours. Patrick went to help mom with her car battery. Apparently the ...

 This morning I was up and ready to go to the Lewis County Commissioner's meeting. Debbie picked me up and then we headed to the court house for the meeting. We arrived early and chatted. It was at 10 am and I believe we were done by 11 am. One of the commissioners was helping us get in contact with the Veterans gal. I believe it's the Veterans Association. Not sure. Anyway, we chatted with here after the meeting and she had a lot of ideas to help us raise money. It was amazing of the things she ...

 Cindy and I decided to go ahead and have our meeting today without Sandy. So, I had to get all my stuff together to drop a few things off and then head to the grange. First things first. I had to stop at the post office and then head to Connie's. I dropped off some scraps and a quilt with her backing for her quilt. After that went to get gas. Thank goodness for Safeway giving out 80 cents off! Then I headed to McDonald's before I realized Connie gave me a text. The text said I forgot ...

 Today I got started with laundry and cleaning the cat litter - as I was lacking on that! The bathroom told me I needed to do it and do it now!

We waited till 1 pm to head over to Debbie's anniversary. We arrived and they were getting started. They waited on the one daughter and then got started. It was a good anniversary party but there really wasn't as much there as I thought there would be. The food was good. Patrick and I help with the clean up. I mopped the kitchen floor before we left. This morning I was up and out the door. I had to stop at the church for our quilt. Trouble was I got there before Rita. So, I told them I would come back in the afternoon. 

Arrived at moms. First thing she needed was for me to get into her laptop which is an Apple. I ended up calling Justin to see who to get into it. Mom changed the password and apparently she didn't type it right because no matter what I did, I couldn't get in. We chatted for a good half hour working things ...
