BU Quilt Along - Week 2 from Patterns by Jen

Week 2! Time to start stitching our blocks, starting with the center unit.

Did you get all of your pieces cut out?
It's a lot of cutting, but I like to get my pattern all cut out, then I can focus on the stitching part. This week we are simply making the center unit which is a snowball unit. It's pretty easy and we *just* need 30 of them.

First mark the diagonal on the wrong side of your 1" squares. There are different ways to do it.

I prefer to mark with a pencil.

You can use ...

New Double Basket Weave Quilt Pattern from The Free Motion Quilting Project

I have a new quilt pattern for you today! This week I received a box of fabric provided by JOANN fabrics and challenged myself to create a new quilt top in just a few days. Click Here to find this new quilting tutorial and learn how to make this quilt!

Does this quilt look familiar? It should because this is a doubled version of the Basket Weave Quilt I shared last year:

This doubled version is actually a bit easier because it uses only two print fabrics. The Basket Weave Quilt has ...

Pix-elated Skull from Gray Barn Designs

I spent a fun weekend in Erie, Pa watching my roommate’s son-in-law run a marathon. SIL is a fast runner and the Erie race is a good one for qualifying for the Boston Marathon. The site of the race, Presque Isle state park, is lovely — I will definitely return to Erie for the beachfront, the shopping, the wine and the food.

Calm Lake Erie on the morning of the race. The weather was perfect for runners.

SIL qualified — in personal best fashion. As a former (much slower) marathoner, it was a thrill to see him cruise across the finish ...

My talk show will be back next Monday!

This is one of my two favorite days of the year, Labor Day and Thanksgiving. Why?

Both are days that celebrate who we are.

Today I'm grateful for my business, my husband who works with me non stop, my friends and family and customers that support me.  It's a day to celebrate our working selves by relaxing a bit.

Each of us relax differently, and many people do work today.
