Color Master of the Month: Emerald Stone from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Emerald stone mood board

2019 is here!! Who’s ready for a new start? I’d say looking back, 2018 was a good year for me, filled with fun memories and fun trips with friends. I also got more into sewing home decor, and making handmade gifts! Now that it’s a new start with a new year, I’m kicking off 2019 with my favorite color: Emerald Green. If you know me, you’d say I have a small obsession with the color because my room walls are painted green and even my office desk is filled with green accessories (mugs, coasters, mouse ...

Summery Vibes: Sun Kissed Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Even though it's technically winter, here in Florida we're used to warm sunshine this time of year! You'll often find us Floridians decorating palm tress with Christmas lights, and there's been several years where I've even gone to the beach on New Year's Day with the family.

With this in mind, we decided to stick to what we know and bring in some warmer climates with Maureen Cracknell’s latest collection, Sun Kissed! Inspired by soaking up the sunshine and glowing skin after a cool swim, this fabric line features cute smiley suns, swimming ...

A Nod to The East: Silkroad Fusion Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Hi Makers!

If you have been following AGF for a while, you would know that we don't often focus on contrasting colors of black, red, and white in our collections. Well, we decided to do things a little different this time and this time, and bring them to center stage in our latest collection! Inspired by what you’d discover while traveling the trading route that connected The East to The West, AGF created its latest collection, “Silkroad Fusion.” This fabric line celebrates the emerging trend of Asian influences in textiles with designs from ancient techniques of brushwork that ...

Have you ever spent a day exploring an artsy neighborhood?! You’d probably start your day, grabbing a cup of coffee at a cute cafe, wander in and out of art galleries, browse small shops that are filled with unique, artisanal crafts, and of course, spend some time photographing all the amazing murals you’d unexpectedly find in alleyways. In Florida, if you're looking to see some street art or explore some unique shops, galleries, plant stores and delicious cafes, our biggest art district here is "Wynwood" which is a fun place to head to! If you were here ...

A Tribute: Legendary Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Often when you have a creative goal in mind, you just have to begin and start somewhere. Eventually, you'll learn along the way and get better at whatever it is that you're setting out to do! There's often no mentors to ask beforehand, no check list, no guidelines...just you and that gut feeling. However, with patience, persistence, and of course practice, you can achieve anything really! I'm sure all of us can relate to this because we've all started off somewhere. Just think back to how far you've come, and take a moment ...

Striking a New Chord: Sonata Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Thomas-kinto-1086141-unsplash

At the age of five, I began learning classical piano. Every week, I'd have a piano lesson with my piano teacher and learned to play songs from all "the greats" like Mozart, Bach, Chopin....but my absolute favorite composer's songs to play was "Ludwig van Beethoven." His songs were moody and felt like they just had soul (no offense to the other talented composers), I just connected to his music the most, and his "Moonlight Sonata" became my favorite song to play on the piano..still is today! One of the main reasons I love it so much ...

Hawaiian Getaway: "Aura" Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

  Hawaii

If you haven't gone yet, you MUST go to Hawaii at least once in your lifetime! There's so much beautiful scenery to take in there! The sunsets, the gorgeous Pacific Ocean, the amazing food like fresh pineapple..it's truly a gorgeous and magical place. My favorite part of visiting Hawaii was going horse back riding where "Jurassic Park" was filmed, I felt like at any moment a dinosaur was going to pop out of the huge trees there. It was completely surreal and breathtaking.

Whimsy Nostalgia: Little Clementine Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Is there a certain children's book that you absolutely loved as a kid?!

When I was a little girl, my mother or grandmother would lay in bed next to me with a book, and would read to me before I fell asleep, each night. As they read to me, I would let my imagination come to life, pretending that I was making friends with animals or mystical creatures in the story, and going on adventures to far off lands! Depending on the character in the book, my grandmother would change the tone of her voice as she read aloud ...

Falling for Fall: Autumn Vibes Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Happy Fall, Ya'll!

Hope you're as excited as I am with this new season that's finally here!

Hands down, fall is my favorite time of year, even though we're here in Florida where we don't really have seasons..minus hurricane season! I still like to pretend the leaves change color and force myself to wear "cozy layers" despite the humidity. There's something so festive about this time of year that's super exciting! It's that time when you get to gather with your family and friends, eat a ton of pumpkin-flavored foods, continue ...

Inspired by Rococo Art: Decadence Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Hi Makers!

Besides being all about fabric, are you also an "art lover?!" I'm definitely one! From an early age, my parents introduced me to many art museums near and far around the world where I had the incredible opportunity to see so many types of art. It was during this time I was introduced to the "Rococo Period." This art movement consisted of highly ornate and a extravagant style of architecture, art and music that flourished in Europe in the 18th century. I fell in-love with all of it!

As I grew older and went to art school ...

Fussy Cutting Projects- Find the Perfect Prints! from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

 Hello Makers,

What is your go to quilting technique? EPP, scrappy quilts, foundation paper piecing, quilt-as-you- go?  There are so many ways to create a single quilt and whatever way you choose why not incorporate a bit of fussy cutting to add a dose of extra cuteness to your handmade creations. When I first started working at Art Gallery Fabrics about  4  and a half years ago, I was introduced to all things quilty! One of the first quilting terms I learned was the word "Fussy Cutting", which I thought at the time was a pretty silly name. When you ...

Garden Love: "Gathered" Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Just like sewing, gardening is so rewarding. You get to plant something with your own hands, then watch it grow and come to life! Ever since I can remember, I've always enjoyed being in a garden, seeing all of the vegetables and fruit start off so small in size and how with patience and dedication of tending to them, they would get bigger in size and eventually turn ripe. When you finally got the chance to eat them, it was satisfying. Growing up in Florida, my parents had a "tropical garden" that had tons of mango (my favorite), orange ...

Underwater Queendom: "Sirena" Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

If you grew up in the 1980's, it was inevitable that as a little girl you would end up becoming obsessed with the Disney movie, The Little Mermaid.  I remember when this cartoon movie came out, all the other little girls at school also loved the main character,  Ariel who was a gorgeous, red-headed mermaid. We would all have "singing contest" at school and would compete to see who had the "best mermaid voice." On the weekends when my family and I would head to the beach, I would dive into the Atlantic Ocean and splash around, pretending my ...

Festive Magic: "Sparkler" Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Growing up in Florida always made the holiday season a very unique one! Unlike most parts of the world where December is a cold and snow-filled month, Florida's climate is usually hot, sticky and humid. I grew accustom to decorating tropical palm trees with Christmas lights and not being able to wear a "Christmas sweater" without sweating, hah! It wasn't until this past winter, I was able to experience my first "White Christmas!" My husband, his family and myself flew north to Canada to go skiing right outside Quebec City. Being in the snow really puts you into ...

Hi Makers,

Happy Monday! Hope you all enjoyed a lovely, Father's Day weekend!

I'm sure a lot of you spent it outside and there's nothing better than being in the great outdoors! (Weather permitting, of course!) Whenever I'm in a bit of a funk or need to gather some inspiration to reset my mind, I love to immerse myself in the natural world. Living here in South Florida, there's such fascinating, tropical wildlife and I always enjoy admiring it while I take my two beagles pups for a long walk, twice a day. I live ...
