Top 5 DIY Festive Pillows from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Festive pillows

One of my favorite things to do during the holidays is get together with my family, and spend a day decorating the house while listening to Christmas music. We always split the tasks within our household. My mom always decorates the tree, my dad puts up the Christmas lights outside, and I”m always in charge of decorating the inside of the house. ‘Till this day, I love making my home feel all cozy with our festive table runners, fancy dinner plates, and filling the house with vanilla cinnamon spiced candles! Yum! Of course, we couldn’t forget the pillows ...

Quilt Block Tutorial- How to Make a "Arrow Point's Block" from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Hello Fabric Friends,

As makers we create because we need to in order to survive. It’s our outlet where we can roam free and make something from raw materials into something that didn’t exist the day before. We create for necessity because handmade items are important to us. We create to bring beauty into the world and we love sharing our work and a little piece of our hearts with everyone. Which brings me to the release of our New Fusion collection called Art District because it celebrates us as makers, creating our own masterpieces to bring light ...

Free Block of the Month 15—Acorns from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

This post was almost called "Throwback Thursday" as the acorn is such an autumnal symbol, but technically it is still fall. The weather here in Germany has certainly become winter-like, but there are still a few days until the official start of winter, therefore the acorn is still in season. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)

This acorn picture was taken early in the season, as you can tell from the green leaves. I (Kara) loved the yellow-orange color of acorn that was just beginning to change colors. I pass a couple of beautiful oak trees ...

How to finish your stitchery in an embroidery hoop or on paper from Quilt Social

Yesterday on QUILTsocial I used the Dreamweaver XE to make some of our stitchery into Christmas tags. Today I’m experimenting with two more finishing techniques.

The Dreamweaver XE
The Dreamweaver XE

Pick one of your embroideries and select a wooden embroidery hoop that is the correct size to frame it. Just lay the hoop on top of the embroidery to make sure that all of the embroidery can be seen and that there’s enough fabric around that can be wrapped around the inner hoop.

Sewing and Music- How to Make a "Road to Vienna" Quilt Block Tutorial from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Hello Fabric Friends,

Who listens to music when they sew? Depending on the day or the mood I want to be in I flip through my Pandora stations usually stopping on a station that will put me in a good sewing mood. Some days it energetic dance music, and other times its soft classical or  soothing jazz.

Whether you are bobbing your head back and forth to some groovy 70s music or shaking your hips to some salsa music, music is always there to motivate us, relax us, and overall bring us to our happy place! Today I want to ...

Free Block of the Month 14—Apple from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

What a spectacular autumn we have had here in Germany—warm temperatures, sunny skies, and loaded apple trees! Although we haven't had much rain, the orchard we walk in was full of every shape, size, and color of apple that I have ever seen.

The dogs and I walk in this area every single day rain or shine. One time, a kind gentleman gave me a bag of apples from his tree. It was a little challenging getting home with two, large dogs and about 5lbs of apples, but it was worth it. There was no question that the ...
