Winter Flurries: a finished quilt top from Carried Away Quilting

Here in the United States, the Thanksgiving holiday has come and gone. In the Kelvington household, we cooked our turkey, enjoyed time spent with family, shopped a little, and started a tiny bit of Christmas decorating. I also managed to finish up this cute quilt top from the “Winter Flurries” mystery sew along with Fort Worth Fabric Studio.

This was such a fun project! I’ve never participated in a mystery sew along before, and it was intriguing to make a few blocks each week, all the while wondering what the final product would look like!

In week one we ...

Final blocks for the Winter Flurries mystery sew along with FWFS from Carried Away Quilting

Somehow or other, life got crazy in my neck of the woods, and I fell behind on a couple of projects. But I’m all caught up with my blocks for the “Winter Flurries” mystery sew along with Fort Worth Fabric Studio. Last night and this morning I sewed up the blocks from week three and four.  Next week we’ll be putting this little quilt together!

The week three assignment was the easy, peasy Flying Geese blocks, while we sewed up the beautiful Christmas Star blocks for week four. Now that I have all the pieces and parts, I ...

Hello quilting friends! I’m popping in to share my progress on the “Winter Flurries” mystery sew alongwith Fort Worth Fabric Studio. This week we made four Granny Square blocks to go with last week’s Economy block. I tell you what, the Granny Square blocks were so much fun that I have a hankerin’ to make a whole Granny Square quilt!

Last week I showed you my fabric pull for this project, but as I laid out this week’s blocks, I realized that my center square selection just didn’t have enough pop. I had chosen a ...

A finished top: the Star Spangled BOM with Fort Worth Fabric Studio from Carried Away Quilting

Back in January I jumped on the red, white and blue bandwagon and joined Fort Worth Fabric Studio and designer Lindsey Weight for their Star Spangled block of the month program, and I’m so glad I did! My top is finished and I’m one step closer to having my first patriotic quilt!

I took some quick photos on my lawn in a shady spot that was dappled with sunlight.  Although my Star Spangled top still needs to be quilted, I can already see that it will be a wonderful summer picnic/display quilt. It’s so festive!

Lindsey ...

Star Spangled BOM with Fort Worth Fabric Studio: Chain Blocks from Carried Away Quilting

Hello all! Today I want to share my Chain Blocks for the “Star Spangled” block of the month hosted by Fort Worth Fabric Studio and designer Lindsey Weight. These are the last five blocks in the program. Later this month we'll be assembling the quilt top. I can't wait to see it all put together!

Lindsey’s instructions call for a scrappy chain block using a combination of all the navy and red prints used in the quilt.  But you know me, I had to change it up just a little bit. I really like my tonal red-on-red ...

Star Spangled BOM with Fort Worth Fabric Studio: Corner Stars from Carried Away Quilting

Hello quilting friends!  I’m popping in today to share my progress on the “Star Spangled” block of the month hosted by Fort Worth Fabric Studio and designer Lindsey Weight. Last night I made the darling corner star blocks for this patriotic quilt, and I love how they came out.

Lindsey’s instructions called for two different pairs of red and blue corner star blocks, and hers are so pretty. But I got it into my head that I wanted to make mine tonal, red-on-red. After I made the first one, I liked it so well that I made the ...

Star Spangled BOM with Fort Worth Fabric Studio: Flying Geese from Carried Away Quilting

This weekend I finally got my sewing self in gear and made my flying geese units for the “Star Spangled” block of the month hosted by Fort Worth Fabric Studio. Designer Lindsey Weight posted the free instructions on March 13, but . . . well . . . Taunja got a little sidetracked! Luckily, the 48 over-sized flying geese were a snap to stitch together!

If you've been following along, you know that I’ve been sewing from my stash, using a combination of fabrics from Fig Tree & Company as well as Bonnie & Camille (both for Moda). I've really enjoyed the creative process of ...

Star Spangled BOM with Fort Worth Fabric Studio: Block 4 from Carried Away Quilting

Hi quilting friends! I’m moving right along on the “Star Spangled” block of the month hosted by Fort Worth Fabric Studio and designer Lindsey Weight! I’ve made the fourth star block, which features an inside pinwheel!

I’ve been sewing from my stash, using a combination of fabrics from Fig Tree & Company as well as Bonnie & Camille (both for Moda). Several different fabric collections are represented here, and I’m happy with how well they all work together.

This fun little inside pinwheel that Lindsey designed is just so sweet. I think my secondary blue might be a ...

It might be Valentine's Day, but I have red, white and blue on my mind! Today I want to share my third block from the “Star Spangled” block of the month hosted by Fort Worth Fabric Studio and designed by Lindsey Weight!

Isn't this a pretty Star-in-a-Star block?  Once again I've used mainly Fig Tree fabrics from my stash, but I also pulled in a bit of Bonnie & Camille on this block.  The navy floral on the outer star is from their "The Good Life" collection.

The Block 3 pattern calls for some pieces that are 2 ...

Diamond Trail takes on a festive, winter look with Nordic Stitches from Carried Away Quilting

Today, I’m delighted to show you the table runner I made and announce that Fort Worth Fabric Studio is offering kits for this project!
