The cutter bug from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

What can I say besides the fact that we are so relaxed here that -- if we don't get any sewing done - who cares? We didn't spend quite so much time at the dinner table, but we had other things we needed to get done!

We are all sleeping like babies here. Since some babies don't sleep well, is that a good expression to use? But it's so darn peaceful here; I could stay here forever. In my case, it's likely peaceful because Lexi and Murphy are not here! But then I miss their furry antics ...

The Long Way Home from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

While it is always great to be at a quilt retreat, it's always fun to return home. Again the weather cooperated, and it was one of the best days I've seen in a long time. How could you not feel happy and excited!

I did go for a short walk in the morning and decided I'd better get myself back to the sewing machine to get something done! I managed to get the center of the flannel quilt done.

Part of the flannel quilt done!

I still have MANY squares of flannel left, and I think I ...

Quilt Retreat - Day Three from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Mother Nature is playing with us! We've not had the best spring, as there were lots of cooler days with loads of wind and rain. It's been nasty at times. However, the last two days have been PERFECT. The temperature was warm enough to walk outside in a T-shirt, no wind or very little, no rain -- it's been perfect. So much so that it's been a challenge to stay inside at the quilting retreat. And I'm OK with that.

Right after breakfast, I decided to go for a walk, and it's always better to ...

Three Finishes from TheEclecticAbuela

I haven't been posting much lately, but the quiltmaking continues!

This is a flannel couch quilt. A dear friend gave me some flannels, and I added a few of my own to the mix. I backed it with a piece of fleece I had on hand that happened to be exactly the right size!

Let’s Glow, Grow, and SHINE ON with Sharon Holland’s Latest Collection! from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Shine-On-banner

As makers, we are always trying to evolve our craft, it’s what makes being a creator so great! As the years go by, I’ve considered myself quite lucky to be part of this evolution, in the way that my personal taste has changed and witnessing those around me also switch up their styles. The first person that comes to mind with great change is our dear designer, Sharon Holland! Ever since I joined the AGF family, collection after collection release I would always be amazed at what she brought to the table when it came to designs.

I ...

baby flannel quilt finish from Making A Lather

I have a jelly roll finish for a child. it was a flannel  jelly roll I found on sale. I used 20 for the inside portion. I wanted it a bit larger so I added borders. I made this on the treadle in 2020

It is 47 x 66. I used an all over stipple for the quilting.

I used a dark blue flannel for the back and a light weight batting  since it is flannel.

I machine sewed the binding. I wish I had cut it larger, there is a lot of bulk with flannel. I hope someone will ...

Baby Burp Cloths from Mama Spark's World

I have been on a burp cloth making kick.  I had SO many cut out already.  I was cleaning in my room and decided that if I sewed up everything I had cut maybe it would make a little more space.  Hardly, LOL.  I will be destashing when I get back from NC so I have been putting fabric into bins for the big destash too.I listed the burp cloths in my ETSY shop if you are interested in purchasing one

Flannel Plaid Star Quilt :: A Finish from Alamosa Quilter

I received a bunch of new plaid flannels recently, Scrappenstance designed by Kim Deihl. They are so pretty that I felt I just had to design something using this collection. Here it is, Flannel Plaid Star.

Flannel Plaid Star Quilt

The quilt finishes at 64" by 80". We made up a few kits if you want to make one too. The kits are $99.99 and include all the fabric for the front plus the binding and the pattern. Backing fabric is NOT included but you will need 4 yards of regular width fabric or 2 yards of wide back.

thanks-stitching . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Last week was a long week.  My coworker has been out sick for two weeks. She's coming back on Monday, but can only work half days, doctor's orders. Luckily it's a short week—we're closed for Veteran's Day on Thursday, and I'm off to Lifeway's Women's Leadership Forum!

I'd ordered an assortment of flannel fat quarters from a vendor on Etsy.  She sells under Prairie Grove Peddler, and y'all she was fantastic to work with. I sent her a question about shipping, and she went ahead and bundled the assortment ...

Reignite the Wild Forgotten with Bonnie Christine’s Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

WildForgotten_banner copy

By being a creative person by nature, I will always have a deeper appreciation for art! Textile designs are unique in the way that you can feel the fabric, feel inspired, and manipulate it to transform into something even more beautiful! Every time a new collection is released, I’m thrilled to be one of the first ones to see the fabric because I instantly think of all the patchwork projects that can be created with it. This time around, when I saw Bonnie Christine’s latest collection, Wild forgotten, its wondrous prints and earthy colors made me instantly swoon ...

Time for a Baby Quilt! from TheEclecticAbuela

My niece has a new (big!) baby boy, so you know what I did--made a flannel baby quilt!

Baby Quilt--36" x 54"

The red flannel is printed with a funny assortment of animals (cows, horses, owls, foxes, giraffes, elephants, and dinosaurs--dinosaurs?!?). I think the fabric designer asked some kids what their favorite animals were, rather than sticking with a theme.

Happy Valentine's Day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So yesterday, I said I might have to move to a smaller house. Elle pointed out that I might like to walk around my existing home (with less stuff) and enjoy it. And you know what? She's right! It's such a joy to walk around with ease in the same space where I had to hop over things to get from A to B. I know - not safe, and how ridiculous. Or something would fall off a shelf if I passed too near.

I have to confess that I even opened the door to that storage room several ...

Positively Pineapple quilts from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Let's start with some follow-up. You are all the best out there. I've got suggestions for acquiring book series to read and "approval" to keep the mistake in the blue string quilt! And I'm now the proud owner of the instructions for the Pineapple Rule. Remember that??

Pineapple Rule

Thanks to Jane for that. I should have contacted her first. For whatever reason, and we won't go there, but Jane seems to acquired EVERY ruler that was ever made. At a guild garage sale a few years back, I remember that she sold a few of ...

Tom's Big-Boy Quilt from TheEclecticAbuela

I like to make a flannel baby quilt for additions to the family.

Here is my grand-nephew's baby quilt.

Safari Baby

Once kids get big enough for a bed (rather than a crib), I like to make them a big-boy or big-girl quilt.

This big-boy quilt started with the backing--I wanted to use this Thomas (as in Tank Engine) fabric since my grand-nephew's name is Thomas.

I didn't know how I wanted to do the front, but the RR crossing sign gave me the idea to use Xs.

Tom's Big-Boy Quilt   64" x 84"

I used ...
