Done and Done from From the Strawberry Patch...

"The All American" has been installed in its rightful place on the porch and the puzzle table, lovingly crafted from a cherry tree (removed from our property years ago), has been placed in front, as designed. The R,W & B wall quilt was just the pop of color that the plain, boring, brick expanse of wall needed. The table measures 18" X 48" with the leaves down, as pictured (48" X 36" with leaves up

Sibling Quilts from From the Strawberry Patch...

Here they are, "Sister Bear" and "Brother Bear", both finished at last. Each of these are made from hand embroidered blocks done over a number of years, from the same book: "S is For Stitch" by Kristyne Czepuryk. These were fun to work on; and, like human siblings, each one has its own unique personality! It wasn't until they were both completed that I realized "Brother Bear" was larger than his

Finding My Way from From the Strawberry Patch...

"Which Way Now?" ~ 57" X 57""Which Way Now?" is done; quilted, bound and checked off the list. This one was my quarantine quilt, begun in March and totally from the scrap bins, I arranged the half square triangle squares into Flying Geese units that changed and alternated directions block to block. It was designed to represent the abrupt revisions and adjustments that occurred with policies and

Beauty Shots, Life Here at Home and a Prayer Request from From the Strawberry Patch...

I've got a new spot for quilt beauty shots, the porch; it's perfect, I can set up the stand without dealing with wind, weather and other outdoor hazards. If you've ever tried to set up a quilt for outside photography you know that even the slightest breeze will turn your quilt into a giant sail! The location is perfect but the time of day wasn't-- I'll need to be careful in the future to make sure

Binding and Baking from From the Strawberry Patch...

"Sweet Sixteen" is off the rails, binding has been applied and the hand finishing has begun. I'm quilting up a few table runners right now, one day has a way of sliding into the next. The quilts are piling up. Mr. Goodneedle asked me last evening who this quilt was for. I have no designation in mind, I just keep at it, one quilt after another; and sew it goes. One would think that these

'Tis the Season from From the Strawberry Patch...

With the month of May come big changes, seasonal ones! Yep, the strawberries are ripe at our local U-pick farm, each and every berry is absolutely as delicious as it looks. The porch quilt has been updated to reflect this full-fledged launch into spring and sunny days ahead. Much more time has been spent lately out-of-doors than inside. It feels so good to get out and to get dirt under my

Berry Good from From the Strawberry Patch...

I've finally taken the time (what else do we have these days?) to make the cording and finish up this pillow cover from a wool applique project completed years ago! It's now in its rightful place, sitting on the deacon's bench in our foyer, the place where I had always seen it neatly resting, in my mind's eye. That clairvoyant mind's eye of mine sees a LOT of things around here finished.

Progress and Pet Peeves from From the Strawberry Patch...

I've been keeping up with the Temecula Quilt Co.'s  Scavenger Hunt  Sew-along through their blog. So far I've been able to keep up week to week, this week's installment, however, is a bit delayed due to an immense amount of piecing required and the fact that we have two additional people under our roof right now (ages 7 and 9); I have no spare time. But, I'm happy to report that I can easily

A Finish and Another Sew-Along from From the Strawberry Patch...

This finish has been a long time in the making. This small quilt is the result of the Temecula Quilt Co. 2015 Summer Sampler Sew-Along. I was diligent (in the beginning) about keeping up with the blocks as posted on their blog.  I decided to do mine using the black and white scraps (generously sized leftovers!) that I fell heir to after my mother finished her own black and white quilt.  She

...Or So I Thought! from From the Strawberry Patch...

With a few of my quiltiest friends I had the opportunity to go on a retreat  the weekend before last; I was eagerly looking forward to this time away. I had accepted a challenge almost a year ago from Quiltkeemosabe and I anticipated this chance to meet that challenge and  achieve my goal of having a new table topper on our kitchen table by Christmas this year! I had admired this pattern and
