Apple Cranberry Clafouti Recipe from The Artist’s Inn, Lancaster PA from Jacquelynne Steves

About a month ago, my husband and I decided that we needed to get away- It was a very stressful, busy month, and we just needed to decompress for a couple of days! We headed for one of our favorite destinations, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. We enjoy driving through the peaceful country side, stopping at little shops, and staying in quaint country inns. We try to stay at a different place each time we go. This time, we stayed at The Artist's Inn, in Terre Hill.  We enjoyed sitting on our deck and looking over the beautiful gardens and countryside ...

A Reminder on Creativity from Jacquelynne Steves

Whew!  I have to admit, things have been very hectic for me lately.  We are preparing to open our doors for The Art of Home Club, and I've been doing quite a bit of "prep" work for that.  I've been writing patterns for the Club, and working on getting the colors "just right" for some of our pre-printed panels for Happy Little Things Block of the Month. And then there is the shipping - probably the least favorite part of my job, but is something that I haven't been able to delegate to others quite yet.  My husband ...

Free Summer Couture Embroidery Pattern from Jacquelynne Steves

Do you have any special memories associated with Summer?   One my favorite and most precious memories is the adorable sun dresses and accessories, like matching pocketbooks, that my Grandmother and Mother would sew for me. I can still remember sitting in my Grandmother's sewing room, watching her cut and sew the patterns. You can reduce or enlarge this to any size you want for any project- it would be great on a tea towel, or so sweet as an embroidered embelleshment on a little girl's dress or pocketbook. (Hand embroidery pattern only, this pattern not available for machine ...

Strawberry Lemonade Cake Recipe from Jacquelynne Steves

There is something about Summer that makes me feel like a kid, no matter how old I get.  Something about long days and getting outside in the sun, feeling like the days and the season will stretch on forever. You've probably noticed a strawberry theme going on lately. In last weeks blog, I gave you a Free pattern for my sweet Strawberry Lemonade Table Runner.  Since the month of June is strawberry season here ...

Shape Cut Plus cutting tool from June Tailor from Quilter Chic

Inside: One fabulous cutting tool.

“You can cut binding strips with that, you know,” said Mary.

“What?!,” I exclaimed.

After a short tutorial I knew. I was in love.

The Shape Cut Plus by June Tailor is one of my favorite, most frequently used tools!

Shape Cut Plus quilting tool

This is the single greatest invention of the 20th century! Okay, that’s probably saying too much, but I love this tool! It is designed for cutting strips en masse. You simply lay the ruler over your folded fabric and cut through the slots to get your strips. This tool is great for all of ...

Strawberry Lemonade Table Runner Free Pattern from Jacquelynne Steves

Here is a sweet little project for you! While designing this project, I decided that pink and yellow is my new favorite color combination! Isn’t it perfect for summer or spring? I remember as a kid, that the unofficial kick-off of the summer season was going to a local “pick-your-own” field to harvest baskets & baskets of strawberries. Then we would come home and eat strawberries til they were coming out of our ears, and Mom and Grandmom would make strawberry jam. Those fond summer memories are brought back with this fun, refreshing project. Read More
