Each week I finish a few more.
Some weeks are more productive than others. I never thought this would be a quick project.

Thank you all for the well wishes leading up to our storm that yes indeed, we did get. There was snow and blowing snow, then rain which was really weird, then back to a blizzard like I'd never seen here in Ontario.
We were fortunate to not have a power outage though lots of folks did. We did have a little drama when our propane tank ran dry...a computer glitch about refills at the company office, and they sent a chap out here at 10:30 at night to fill ...

Then I filled my hexie project bag with all those sets. Now I can easily grab a single flower and get stitching. Someday, I will have a quilt top.
This simple paper piecing Polar Bear block comes in two sizes 8″ x 8″ and 15″ x 15″.. both sizes included in the same purchase for $8.60
The pattern comes as a PDF download for you to print, the smaller version prints on one piece of paper, the larger on 4. Click here for pattern.
The eyes and nose are appliqued, the ears are free to flap and are inserted into the seams as you assemble the block. This is a great, quick, fun to make pattern. I’d love to see what you come up with.. don’t ...
read moreHi! I thought that I would give you a quick update on my hexies since that's what I've been doing a lot of these days. It's perfect for mindful stitching because there are very few decisions to make. I love all of the slow stitching involved.
More hexies
While I was away with my girlfriend at my brother's cottage, I had time to play with more hexies. Here are some images of what it looked like at the beginning of November.

We both got our bivalent vaccine booster shots on Monday and both had a sore arm but, thankfully, no other effects. At this point where there seems to be a smorgasborg of viruses circulating, I don't know if it will be a help or not. Lots of talk of a bad flu happening here though too.
Leeanna's Not Afraid of Color's prompt this week was to share our favourite pumpkin recipe. I shared this dump cake recipe in this post back in 2019 because it was just so good and the perfect cake for autumn. As you ...

I managed to finish four of them last week. Slow progress, but not ten years of slow progress.
I've started my decorating for Halloween. LOL Need to add deep dusting to my chore list! Though I am peculiar in that I do abide the odd spider here and there in this house.
I finished the binding on my EPP diamond quilt. And I can call it finished. It has been a few months since I have had a finish. Meanwhile, I haven't stopped sewing, and, the tops are still piling up in the closet. I need to move a long.
This was my very first English Paper Piecing. I started ( 2009) with this quilt I needed a hand project for an airplane trip to Utah to see my daughter. I was sure I didn't want to do hexagons ( what did I know?) And this seemed simple enough to be a ...
read moreI was able to trim and add borders to my English paper piecing project at open sew, except the upper left hand corner that was not complete with the diamond EPP shapes. I was technically missing 3. I would have to add them at home. sigh..... I have tried to make this a goal for 3 months, now. I think not knowing how I wanted to finish it was the reason it stalled.- getting closer

read moreHi! It would seem that hexies are back into my life. They are very meditative to prepare and to stitch together (i.e. relatively mindless but enjoyable for a short time).
Happy Purple & Spots
July's colour for the 2022 Table Scraps challenge is purple and the theme is circles, spots and dots. Until last year I had very few fabrics with spots but because of a wonderful gift of scraps, I now have tons.
read moreWe are going to try this again for my one monthly goal at Elm street quilts. I have filled in the blank spots and squared the EPP for this little handsewn quilt. I want to iron all the edges out ( they are still wrapped around the paper templates), and starch it before I trim it. Then, I will add a border, and quilt it. I used this as my goal for May but, didn't finish it.
