Firsts from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Don't we love to document our "firsts"? The first block of a project? First child? After we get the first out of the way, the rest doesn't really count. I have a couple of firsts to share today.

Wednesday was M's FIRST day at school. Yes - she's off to Vancouver Film School to up her game in the acting world. Sounds like she's having a blast and hopefully learning lots. Good luck M!! Someday we hope to see your name in lights!!! Well technically that's theatre, but you never know where life will take ...

It seemed like a good idea at the time! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I didn't get as much done as I would have liked yesterday, but then who cares! I'm not in panic mode at this time of year. However, I did get a design off to the magazine and that took longer than originally planned as I kept adding options.

Went for an hour long massage so I'm pretty stiff this morning. But not too bad. Went to Fabricland to find more of that cording and well - I thought that what I have is a different size than what they had in the store. Did I take my sample ...

In over drive! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

My brain has shifted into overdrive and I can't shut it down!

This morning is the LAST broadcast for Roger Ashby at CHUM-FM. Even though I haven't listened to the show for the last couple of years and NOT because of Roger, but because of his co-host. She just doesn't work for me and that was enough to not listen to Roger. Sad but true. Even now that I'm listening to CHUM-FM on a temporary basis and I find myself shouting at the radio at some of the things that she says!! It's bittersweet - he ...

What to do when you can't sleep! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Another successful event at The Sewing Machine in North Bay. I was on my way home when I realized that I did NOT get any pictures of the inside of the shop. Oh, shoot - they do a roaring business in the alterations/repair department and they have some very scary looking industrial machines in that room. There are three ladies who do alterations! And that classroom with all those bright lights - well it was awesome.

Jackie and her entire team are very welcoming, very talented and very experienced. I did pick up some red thread that I need for a ...

Another great day! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Sit n Sew days are the best - but they're exhausting!

There were a total of eight of us yesterday sewing. I don't think anyone forgot anything - no need to borrow a specialty ruler, or thread or fabric. But there were a LOT of questions and advice needed! That's OK - that's what it's all about. Having fun and encouraging each other.

I have to confess that after the group left, I needed a nap! I had (and still have) loads of work that I was going to do last night, but I was just too tired ...

Sit n Sew day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So.......   did you shop yourself silly yesterday? It was Black Friday after all. Or should I say that it was just one more day to shop in the madness that now appears to be Black Friweek! The sales are getting ridiculous and who needs all that stuff anyway? I was at the computer for most of the day and the number of e-mails regarding Black Friday sales was crazy. Buy this! Save this! Only four hours left! Nuts - totally nuts. Did I buy anything? I went the entire day without buying something until I was at Oh Look Fabric last ...

Who knew my sewing machine could do that? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

A super productive day yesterday. Oh boy - I feel like I'm in auto mode - just keep sewing!

DH was prepping for a quick trip and comes to me with his duffle bag that has a seam that has ripped open. Can I fix it? Normally, I would take forever to do something like that, however, I also had something similar that needed fixing so I grabbed both items and headed to the sewing machine.

The materials were quite stiff, but I set the Sewing Advisor on the Husqvarna Viking Ruby Royale to HEAVY and away I went. I didn ...

Learning to make do from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

When I first started to quilt, my local quilt shop was a 40-minute drive away. I'd think nothing of hopping in the car to find the perfect fabric for whatever project I was about to embark on. Then I was even luckier when another shop opened up a mere 5 minutes away. Well, it was nothing for me to hop in the car or sometimes my bike and go check out the latest and greatest of whatever I needed. I was spoiled, to say the least.

Last year, the shop that was 5 minutes away closed. The owner wanted ...

Motivational Monday update (or not) from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'd like to say that I have lots of pictures of stuff that I've done to show you, but I don't. I do have pictures, but no finished show n tell.

I did get the top and back done for the magazine quilt and it's hanging on the long arm waiting to be loaded later today. That was good.

I got something done for the upcoming QUILTsocial blog and all the pictures are taken and need to be loaded to the internet. That was good.

But I can't share them with you yet.

However, I ...

Don't try this at home..... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yesterday was an exciting day. Time to get back to regular classes at The Hobby Horse. While I've already taught at Oh Look Fabric this September, I got to see the new classroom at The Hobby Horse. New laminate floors and painted walls. It's so much brighter in the classroom. I love it but it took some getting used to. If you haven't signed up for a class, you should! Although lots of them are full or close to being full. Those two stores are at complete opposite ends of the spectrum in view of what product ...

There's nothing like being prepped............. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I did a stupid thing yesterday. I was walking Miss Lexi in the forest and I see that some enterprising kids are building themselves a mountain bike trail. Not cool. So I dismantled their handiwork and in doing so, I picked up a big log or something that hit me right in the lower back. I paid for that move all day. Even painkillers didn't kill the pain. GRR!  Much better today, but stupid, stupid, stupid!!!

Anyway - enough about that - let's see what I got done at Monday sewing. Remember - my focus is on those UFOs. There is ...

Oh - so that's where that is............. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm sure like some of you, you come home from somewhere and it takes a long time to unpack. I'm not talking suitcases here although I do procrastinate on that sometimes. I'm talking about a quilt shopping trip!

I had a few minutes to spare yesterday and I was rummaging around in the stash room for some reason that I've totally forgotten at the moment. I saw a bag that had been sitting there for a while. I thought it was a bag that I had shoved stuff into, but no it was a tote bag ...

What I've been working on from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I guess technically this is my Motivational Monday post, but guess what - it's Thursday! a tad behind. Lots of stuff going on!

First I have to tell you my story about the UPS store. Yes - I'm going to name the company because I'm MAD. But I must also mention that this isn't UPS per se, but the individual store that I deal with.

I finished one more quilt yesterday for a magazine - that makes SIX finishes for the year. All documented and some form of a photo taken. It needed to be at its Canadian destination ...
