White Sands National Park from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Our stay here in New Mexico has been short. We'll be on our way to Texas this morning. But I know you've been waiting on tenterhooks to find out which national park we visited yesterday, and...TaDa!

It was an easy 46-mile drive along both interstate and US highways. Like Arizona, they enjoy their freeway art in New Mexico too.

Here's a little more.

Even their big tanks have been painted with murals. I'm assuming these hold water, but I don't know for sure.

And just one more before we turned ...

Got A Little Carried Away from Quilting My Way

This morning I felt so good. It was the first night since we got back that I have had a good nights sleep. It was good for me. Even though I had to get up three times to pee. Oh, well. At least I'm drinking! lol  I'm also losing weight. I wanted to get my weight down and this does seem to help. But mostly because I don't have an appetite.

Debbie dropped off the bolts of fabric she got yesterday at Hobby Lobby. Love the colors she got for the backings.

I had class today for ...

March 2024 OMG Finish from Quilt Paint Create

For March, my OMG was to trace The Gardener’s Angel of Spring by Crab-apple Hill onto fabric and start stitching.

I got a decent start on the stitching. The only stitch on the piece so far is back stitch, but there are other stitches in the design.

It’s my first time using overdyed floss, and I find it tangles easier than DMC. Some colors are definitely more variegated than others. I’m reserving judgement until I see the finished piece.

For all the other OMG finishes, visit Stories From the Sewing Room.

Willcox, Arizona from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's shaping up to be a nice day here at the Traveling Three Cats Ranch. As I'm writing this, I have some Carrot Cake Baked Oatmeal in the oven. I'm hoping if I write slow, I can show it to you at the end of the post. On today's agenda will be a visit to Chiricahua National Monument. In a previous post, I was wringing my hands over the fact that the scenic drive was closed, and that meant there wasn't much of a reason to visit. When I checked the ...

Friday in Photos from Canadian Needle Nana

A recap of some things here at the Wooden House I enjoyed this week...

I can always pick this one out of a scurry of squirrels because of its' outstanding tail! Learned a new word...scurry. No, not a spring animal which is LeeAnna's prompt this week but a regular year round visitor.

Here is a mug rug I just stitched for someone I love and am so grateful she is in my life.

Don't paint my nails often but when I do I usually use clear nail polish and this one has shiny flecks in it that ...

Blustery Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was the kind of spring day that included all kinds of weather...wind, rain, hail, sunshine...but mainly, the wind blew. We had on our agenda to take a walk in downtown Benson to see the Benson murals. The information I had about them indicated there are over 40 murals in Benson depicting local history and culture. Of course, we didn't see all of them. I took pictures of the ones we saw, but you can see more at the link I've given you. We were told the Benson Visitor Center was a ...

More RV Park Art from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! We had a welcome chill day yesterday. When we drive two or more days running, it’s nice to get up in the morning and not have anywhere to go. We made a quick trip to the grocery store, but otherwise lazed around.

I spent a good amount of time on the Kitten block, filling in most of the flower.

That made it possible for me to move my hoop to the right. That’s the last of it. I did a little more later in the day. Just the lighter parts of the kitten are ...

San Diego Botanic Garden, Encinitas, California from ... Cat Patches

Good afternoon, my friends. It's our last day here in Escondido. Tomorrow morning, we will head east again, stopping in Arizona for a couple of days, and then continuing on our journey to the middle of Texas, where we will hope to see the solar eclipse.

My morning started with some slow stitching. I filled what was in my hoop, and now I've moved my hoop up to begin stitching the kitten's face and the flower.

We'd purchased tickets to visit the San Diego Botanic Garden today. Tickets are purchased with timed entry. I suppose the ...

“Lovely Lepidoptera” in The Art of Home Club from Jacquelynne Steves

Earlier today we released our “Lovely Lepidoptera” collection for The Art of Home Club!  This Collection includes some beautiful moths and butterflies – perfect for the coming spring season!  I was originally intending for this to be a “fancy moth” themed collection… but then thought some people might prefer butterflies… and realized that really they can be whichever you fancy! Hence the name Lepidoptera, which encompasses both kinds of winged creatures.

Members of The Art of Home Club get brand new patterns and projects like these on the 20th of every month.

There are 5 different moth/butterfly designs to choose ...

Quilt Shops: Double Delight! from ... Cat Patches

Good afternoon, my friends. My dear friend, Debi, picked me up this morning, and we visited two quilt shops before we were finished for the day. Is there a better way to spend a day than fabric shopping with a friend? I think not.

Before Debi arrived, I went to work on a dessert I wanted to make for St. Patrick's Day. Lacking any Irish Cream, I ended up making something else. In the interim, we acquired the missing ingredient, and so I baked this up this morning. This is Chocolate Shamrock Bread Pudding. We haven't actually tasted ...
