Animal Inspired Renter Quilts! from Quilted Joy

We are always talking about the different shapes that make up quilt blocks. Squares, triangles, rectangles, even hexagons can be combined in a variety of ways to create tops of wonder to the eye. But besides sewing blocks with shapes, you can have a lot of fun with applique as well. Now not all of these quilts were appliqued, but they are all adorable animal designs!

Judy's Jelly Roll Race quilt with an appliqued Fox!

Judy's Jelly Roll Race quilt with an appliqued Fox!

Judy made this quilt for a baby shower gift. Is it not absolutely adorable? The quilt itself is just a simple jelly roll race. Judy then appliqued that cute fox on top. She even ...

Butterflies, Dogs, and Cats, Oh My! from Quilted Joy

Images in nature are beautiful and common themes to include in artwork. Flowers, vines, and trees often make it to a quilt top. But there is more than just flora out there. Let’s not forget the fauna.

Carol quilted her Strip Butterflies quilt at Quilted Joy

Carol made this Strip Butterflies Quilt with batik fabrics. The butterflies are so colorful. The colorful border ties it all together ending in that beautifully matched blue with rainbow accents border. The pantograph she chose also subtly accents the design. She quilted it here with our Airborne pantograph. It reminds me of wind swirling giving flight to her butterflies.

Rita quilted her Halloween themed Pins and Paws Quilt at Quilted Joy.

This was a ...

February's UFO is completed from Northern Deb Quilts

The Dogs in Sweaters quilt is bound and has found it's new home.
Henry is thrilled with it.

Jenn put it on his "big boy" bed and it fits nicely.

Henry posed for some pictures with his quilt and wanted to make sure he was next to his two favorite dogs on the quilt.... Piper the TC airport dog..abd the green sweatered dog near the bottom. That's the Henry dog. All the dogs have names...guess it meets with his approval.

Not sure how much other quilting will be happening these next 3 weeks. Al and I ...

Bjorn Bear and Dogs in Sweaters from Night Owl Quilting

Amy and Reneta worked together to create a lap quilt and pillow for a friend who is going through some tough times.  The pattern for the quilt is Bjorn Bear by Elizabeth Hartman.  We used the Heartstrings panto.

I just love the glasses!

Reneta and Amy also made Elizabeth Hartman's "Dogs in Sweaters" Pattern for this pillow.

The girls had a vision for the quilting.  I was asked to add the word "Courage" to the background and densely quilt around it to make it pop.

I suggested adding something to the bottom corner for balance, we decided on adding ...

On a roll... from Northern Deb Quilts

It's quilted!! I'm so glad to be done with the quilting on this one. Theres a few days left before we head out of town, so enough time to cut and bind this one.
The binding decision is up to Jenn since it'll be in her house. I kind of like this small plaid but she really wanted red or blue. Maybe she has something in her stash.

Today Al is sick...a cold I hope, not the FLU. Good thing about that is I'm getting plenty done. My neice-in-law is expecting a girl in May ...

Scrap quilting from Northern Deb Quilts

Sixteen blocks are done on the scrappy bow tie quilt. I just finished cutting a bunch of purple scraps for more bow ties.
Purple is the scrappy color for February. I don't have much purple left after making a whole quilt top with my purple scraps last year. I've cut up what was left.

The UFO of the month is #1 (below). It's Elizabeth Hartman's Dogs in Sweaters quilt.

I'm making progress on it. The dog quilt is pinned and I've started quilting it. Today, after I scrub a couple of bathrooms, I'll ...
