Trim the table runner. Using a long ruler (6″ x 24″ if you have it) and rotary cutter, trim the edges. It should measure approximately 18″ x 36″.

Echo and modern grid quilting: how these make Magic Mushrooms the star! from Quilt Social

In my last post I completed the straight line applique of the marvelous mushrooms and today I’ll finish the quilting with some simple but effective machine quilting.

After you complete the applique, press your table runner and make sure to check the back for any bunching or puckering. The beauty of using Banyan Batiks Daisy Chain fabrics is that they’re smooth and not prone to bunching or distorting, however, it’s always easier to address any problems you may have now than later!

If you’re happy with the applique stitching, you’re ready to add some modern ...

Stitching straight line applique for instant quilting satisfaction! from Quilt Social

Do you have all your applique pieces ready? Check out yesterday’s post if you missed it.

To begin quilting the Magic Mushroom table runner, sandwich your table runner by placing the backing fabric on a flat surface, right side down.

Next, add your batting and smooth gently and try not to pull too much on the batting or it will become distorted.

Finally add your pieced top and fused applique top, again smoothing gently in place.

Aren’t the Banyan Batiks beautiful? I particularly love the Sun colorway of the Daisy Chain collection. This collection is shipping out in ...

Fantastic fusible applique with HeatnBond Light from Quilt Social

Yesterday, I shared with you the material list and cutting information for the Magical Mushrooms table runner I’m working on this week. Did I say work? It’s all fun when using Banyan Batiks Daisy Chain fabric!!

I love fusible applique and I encourage everyone to try it! It’s quick and simple.

The advantage of using batiks for your fusible applique is that the thread content is high and allows for a crisp edge to your applique pieces.

Step 1 Trace mushroom templates onto the paper side of the fusible using a pencil.

You’ll need to cut ...
