Motivational Monday - check in... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Good morning!  It's Monday morning and while you're reading this, I'm probably at the gym in spin class!

Mondays are such a great day!  A new week and lots of plans to get things done!  I'm going on a retreat this week and so have been busy getting things prepped for 5 days of sewing. I don't think I even turned my sewing machine on. Not that I need to prep, I think I still have a couple of bags of projects packed from when I was in PEI for one month in 2015!

I ...

Motivational Monday - what was lost is now found! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's MONDAY!!!!!   Only very weird people get excited about Monday, especially those that go to the gym at 6 AM.  One quick second as I digress from quilting but I decided to get myself back to spin class at 6 AM on Monday. I think I was so excited that I had trouble sleeping!  Go figure- but there is nothing like a 25 KM ride on an indoor bike to get your blood pumping and a good start to the day!

So on with the progress report for this week.  I was prepping for a guild talk last week ...

8 + 2 + 1 = ? from Quilting with Care

8 + 2 + 1 = ? I’m a numbers person. I struggle with scrappy, I try to find a pattern even if it is hidden deep, I want some sort of order to things.  I look for numbers.  I think this is the only reason I can work up a pattern from a picture.  […]

Motivational Monday MIRACLE! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's Motivational Monday again. A very exciting day. Many people are not that fond of Monday - it's the end of the weekend, it's back to work. For me, Monday has been a very exciting day for many years as that is my sewing day. Well now that I work full time, it's not technically a full sewing day, but it's all about sewing as I do get to spend a bit of time first thing in the morning with the sewing group and then off to work which is always exciting.

Today is even more ...

Size matters................. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yesterday was an awesome day. I taught three classes and while I wasn't 100% completed what I would have like to have done, it was enough to get us going and thanks to Diane for having completed blocks.  I took loads of pictures and I'm going to try and get them all up this coming week.

But the best news was when I got home. I've been a busy little bee, I've updated The Task Master and while there are still a few things that need to be done from a few weeks ago, I don ...

When you in a hurry................ from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It doesn't pay to be in a hurry. As you know, big preparations for Quiltcon next week and other things going on for my classes this weekend, and other conferences later this year.

And things niggle at the back of my mind. I must do this, I must do that.  So yesterday just before leaving work, I had some photos to send to someone.  I had edited the photos in the morning and just needed to send them via e-mail. Because they were kind of big, I decided to send the five photos individually.  I start to type the ...

OH Canada!!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was a wild and crazy weekend.  I was excited and I was ready to go!  A lot of quilting to get done. You know how you get into a rhythm with things - that's how my weekend went.

As you know, this is Canada's Sesquicentennial this year. Northcott always has a beautiful collection of Oh Canada fabric based on their Stonehenge collections, and this year, they have a new collection to celebrate the Sesquicentennial

The first quilt up was for a customer and it's based on the Northcott Oh Canada.

WIP Week Wrap Up from Quilting with Care

{WIP= Work In Progress} Wow! The week flew past, yet somehow I was able to finish a few things. I sure hope you were able to as well.  First, I worked on a class sample. Our first class is February 25th and it is a beginner quilt class on making a Disappearing Nine Patch; although, […]

Progress update from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Hmmm  - I was thinking the other day about the amount of projects that I have on the go. All of them seem to have been started or will be started for a very specific reason. It's not like I walk into a shop and say - Oh - I want to make that quilt and I start it. Oh no - I try to make the quilt for some purpose and I seem to find myself constantly prepping for the next class, or the next event.

It would nice if that stopped for a while!  Things are slowing down a bit - at ...

A Christmas Miracle! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone!!!  While everywhere (or so it seems), it looks a lot like Christmas, it doesn't look like that at our house. I never even got my tree quilt hung up!

I did finish the book (Skipping Chrismtas) and we're almost like the Kranks!  (the family in the book!).  But here has been the nice part - I went to bed at my usual time last night. No mad wrapping of gifts, no mad sewing. And I didn't have to do that either this morning. I have NOTHING to do all day except for the movie ...

Santa & Sew Parties from Quilting with Care

Progress report from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm making great progress on the projects that I scheduled for this week.  There were 20 items in total on the list (including quilting THREE quilts and sewing TWO quilt tops together).  I don't think I'm going to get everything completed, but then perhaps I was too ambitious with 20 items. It's all a learning experience.  I'll be sharing more details about that with you later on.

Here is one of the quilts that I quilted this week. (In case you're wondering, I have 1/2 of the second quilt to piece and quilt ...

T-shirt Quilts from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

T-shirt quilts. You gotta love them.  They're a great souvenir, they`re not that hard to put together, but they can cause problems.

I recently quilted two T-shirt quilts for customers.  The first one was HUGE!  Because there was actual pieces of clothing on the quilt and some other dimensional embellishments, I wasn't able to do an overall design. And the neat thing was that she had used the stamp images from Zebra Patterns of places where the recipient of the quilt had been.

The backing was plush - a bright canary yellow which was fun!

Shifting deadlines from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

An interesting day.  It's always interesting when there's a ton of things to do, everything is set, nothing on the schedule to bug you and you have high hopes of accomplishing lots. And then everything seems to take twice as long as planned.  You know how it is "oh that will just take a couple of hours." And a couple hours more than a couple and it's finally done!   That seems to be my issue these days.  Oh, I can quilt a couple of quilts each day.  Well - NOT!

Granted, this one was done custom with three ...

I bought it on the internet! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm not one for shopping.  Not in a store (unless it's a quilt store) and not on-line (unless I'm desperate!)

Yesterday I was desperate!  I needed some snowflakes that I could embroider onto a project. I didn't have snowflakes that I could use. I checked out Anita Goodesign.  This is the company who created the Halloween blocks that I was working on a while back. I'll resurrect that project, but not until after things settle down.  Like AFTER Quilt Market!

I did call my local shop that sells Anita Goodesign software, but they did NOT ...

Work, work, work from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

There's nothing like a full weekend of uninterrupted sewing.  It just doesn't get any better and all weekend, I dreamt of how my fabulous NEW studio would look IF I won the lottery!

However, I'm not going to show you any of the work that I did. But I did manage to get one more quilt top completed and about half done on another one.  How's that for heads down? I had a great time and even took Miss Lexi to the dog park a couple of times, took a break to go to Chapter's ...

Filmfest! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm going crazy!  DH was on my case about how swollen my knee was and that if I don't stop, I'm going to be in a real mess.  I have this massive hand project that I'm working on and would like done by the end of the month and I was talking to Lynn last week about the new Jason Bourne movie and she reminded me that she had lent me the first three movies (over a year ago!).

So I combined all three into one and had my own private filmfest.  DH set up the ...

Customer Quilt – Linelle’s Stars from sewbittersweetdesigns

Hello! Sorry I have been gone, Anne has been very sick, and as we all know, kids come first. While she was resting, I was able to get some work done, but not much else was accomplished.  I was given a beautiful star quilt from Linelle, a friend of someone from my quilting guild and she requested an all over edge to edge design with some special words quilted in sporadically.

Linelle's Stars - http://blog.sewbittersweetdesigns.comI used Monopoly thread by Superior Threads. I love the way that it disappears into the quilt and doesn’t compete with the beautiful piecing. It also blends perfectly ...
