A good news day! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm so excited, I'm practically exploding this morning. It's a super good news day!

I started reading "The Home for Unwanted Girls" and didn't give myself enough time before the audiobook expired. It was returned (yanked from my phone is more like it - OK - so that's being dramatic!) last night and I had only read about 28%. There were holds or so I thought as Libby wouldn't let me renew. This morning, I got a notification that the book downloaded!!!  Yeah - I can keep reading. The wonders of technology. And the best part? That ...

A progress report from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yesterday was a whirlwind day. I've been slacking off so I had to make up some time yesterday. I'm happy to report that I had a great sleep because I got everything out of my brain before I went to bed! I was experimenting with embroidery yesterday and OH MY - there's so much fun stuff!!! Just need more time to fully explore some of this stuff.

Plus I'm totally packed for my day trip to Orillia. Well - the car isn't packed, but I'm about to do that in a few minutes. It sure helps ...

I SLEPT IN from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OK - I'm late with the blog. Why? Because I slept in! I was wide awake in the middle of the night thinking about my projects so I got up to check some stuff. Went back to bed and now it's late - really late!

The girls will not get a walk this morning and they are NOT going to be happy. I should be leaving for Monday sewing right now!

Oh well - I'm going to be late. It's not like I need to be there to open the door. I'll get there when I get there ...

The second round already! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I feel possessed. It feels like someone else has taken over my body and my brain. No, wait - that's just my Virgo side finally emerging after many years of being pushed into the far recesses of my brain.

I'm thrilled to death with this decluttering process and I'm making great inroads. I haven't made arrangements yet for the junk truck to come, but that'll be this week. I was trying to get through those storage rooms and the garage - although the garage was the only thing on my mind when I started. As long as ...

On buying magazines from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Things slowed down in the decluttering process a wee bit yesterday. I did go to the recycling depot again! I got rid of stuff at the Donation center which is located in the building outside the depot. It's all part of the same complex. And they took everything except the silly calendar holder that I forgot to give them. That will go back maybe today.

The car was full of wood and a couple of plexiglass items. I merrily tossed them in their respective bins. One for the wood and the plexiglass items went in the garbage. This time ...

It's my birthday!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Birthdays come and go and some are important and some are not. People tend to shy away from them, ignore them or be in denial about them. I say - what the heck - it's part of life. It's my birthday today! No - you don't need to know how old I am. I don't act my age, I don't feel my age and that's very important to me. Hence the need to "celebrate" today!

As I was digging through stuff in the basement, I found this which gave me a chuckle.

A note from M
I ...

Let's sleep on it from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

You've heard the expression before - sleep on it. Well, that seems to be working like a charm for me.

I have a quilt top that's on my list to get completed this year. Can I find the darn quilt top? Nope - I have the pattern and the container with all the extra fabric, but no quilt top. I know I had the top after everything got moved back in, but where did I put it? I searched and searched and nothing.

Then yesterday morning, I woke up and knew exactly where the quilt top was. I ran downstairs ...

The clock is ticking from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I've got two days to get the rest of the stuff done that I need to accomplish. I'm in pretty good shape, but there are still things that need to be done. Hopefully, most of them can be cleared up today?? I doubt it - it's going to take the two full days.

I made four labels yesterday and they are trimmed and pressed. I'll sew them on the quilts when I get out west. Yes - I've packed scissors and threads. I was going to do a photo transfer of the original map for the Hot ...

They should know better.............. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Another interesting day. I made excellent work on my stitch out samples and started to assemble them into the finished product. I didn't get any pictures but I'll try to get them for you tomorrow.

If you were a new sewist and needed fabric, where would you go? You'd probably Google it and in my neighborhood, you'd likely get the fabric chain which I won't mention. You'd walk in and ask someone for help. One would think they would ask questions like "are you a new sewist?" (especially if you're very young and ...

The Harley quilt from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

There's nothing like a deadline to get one motivated!

Last summer when I visited my family, I met up with Heather - a quilter whom I met via Facebook. We've known each other for several years now and she was showing me around her studio. There's a group of artists who've rented office space and have the most amazing studios ever. She's the only quilter. As she was showing me stuff in her studio, she happened upon a bag of Harley Davidson T-shirts. Most of them had been cut and had the stabilizer applied to the ...

What was lost is now found! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

There are days when we're super productive and there are days when we're not. But even one small thing accomplished in a day can be HUGE. It's all on how you look at it.

The Quilts of Valour quilts were photographed (pictures needed so I could finish writing the patterns) and they were delivered. Yeah - SIX quilts out the door. A HUGE shout out to Virginia, Shirley and Lil who run our local chapter of Quilts of Valour. They have quite a team of people working for them - piecers, quilters, and whoever else they need. So far ...

Change is all around us from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I swear that I've never worked so hard or so focused as I have these last couple of days. I'm rather enjoying it! There's no one at my water cooler or someone to pop in at my desk (sewing machine) to bother me, although I do get the occasional phone call. My darn travel arranger asking for suggestions. I say - go with anything - I'm just along for the ride!! More on that at the end of this month. I guess this is all about passion versus a job.

I got a lot accomplished yesterday although there ...

Viewing art from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I knew, yesterday wasn't going to be a productive day as far as making things as I had a few errands to run. One of them took me to Hamilton where I got some roman blind rods trimmed to the correct length. Look at the size of shears one of the ladies was using in the store. Those are HUGE  - I don't think you'd get those on an airplane in your carry on!!!!

Huge pair of shears

I stopped in Oakville to view some art. I've posted about Fuzzy Mall in the past and some of ...

STINKING Cute!!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I can't believe how focused I've been these last two days. Head down the entire day - no napping in the gazebo and I don't even have a deadline. An imminent one that is.

Having so much fun - it's crazy! I've been listening to an audiobook which I finished yesterday. It's called The Gown by Jennifer Robson. I think someone told me about - probably Helen Anne since she's the only one I know who has read it. It's sad, it's funny, it's uplifting. It's so not my typical style, but ...

How to move a mountain - one box at a time from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

There are some days when I sit down to write about what happened the day before and a total blank! Thank goodness for pictures! I actually spent a good part of the day figuring out some new technology which I'll share with you tomorrow.

Once the technology stuff was sorted, I was hefting boxes in Studio B - determined to clear some space. Here's what happened.

One of the things that I'm really trying to get coordinated is to put similar things together. I don't care if they are upstairs or downstairs or wherever, as long as ...

Sit n Sew Day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Fun Fun FUN!!!!!!  That's what a Sit n Sew day is!!!

There were 6 of us and we had a blast. Before I show you what some of us worked on, here's a snapshot of last week when I was trying to get ready for the sew days. I'm not sure how I'm going to make this happen, but NOTHING is to go into the stash room or the storage room unless it's sorted and organized and obviously has a home. I look at the pile of boxes that remain to be unpacked and wonder ...

This is heaven from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm a wee bit spoiled. I had a Sit n Sew day on Thursday at my house. Friday was a "work" day spending time on community project quilts. Saturday was the make up class for our Ultimate Block book at The Hobby Horse and the afternoon was spent sewing. Today is a Sit n Sew and tomorrow is Monday sewing! FIVE decadent days of sewing and prepping! It's been loads of fun, but I'll be glad when Tuesday rolls around because I had TWO things that I should be working on! They involve paperwork and that's ...

It's all about the written word!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm motoring right along with my projects. I wish I had more time for that darn UFO that I'm working on for the UFO group. That's going to be after my classes this coming week. It's going to be tight to get my commitment done on time, but I refuse to cough up another $10.

Speaking of our UFO group, sometimes we get the before pictures of what the person is going to do. Sometimes we don't. All I can say is that Shelly has a HUGE task ahead of her this month. She wants ...

Cleaning with intent from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I should say "organizing with intent" since technically that's what I'm doing. I've been hauling bags of projects upstairs to get them out of the basement for the "big move". I need to follow up on the situation today to find out what's happening.

Those big IKEA bags of stuff are now sitting in the upstairs hallway. Not a very neat or orderly situation and I'm just going to end up with a big mess. Which is exactly what I had downstairs. While I love those bags for carrying stuff, they're not very efficient ...

A quilter quilting quilts from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

That's me - a quilter quilting quilts.

Our language is pretty weird. By using the word quilt and adding three different endings, I have two different nouns and a verb. And it makes a sentence! I'd have to say that my grammar has vastly improved since I spend so much time writing. I use Grammarly which is an add-in that you can load for free and it'll check your spelling and grammar. It's a love/hate relationship I have with that software. It's good, but frustrating at the same time. And then once a week, they ...
