TNT Log Jam 121, 122, 123, 124, 125 from Virtual Quilter

With the right fabrics the first design for today could become a giant flower.

I like the second design!

The centre of the one above is crying out for lots of quilting, or perhaps just some quilting to fill the space around an applique.

The one above is interesting.

Another one with an empty centre circle … but this time there is a block out of place near one of the corners! I should have learned by now to keep the best till last … not the mistake.

That is all for this week, but there will be more Log Cabin designs ...

Cabin Fever Isolation Area 66, 67, 68, 69, 70 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting start for this weeks collection of Log Cabin quilt designs.

Very different, but still interesting!

Rather stunning … would be interesting to swap colours around in this one! Log Cabin quilts are not usually a great showcase for quilting, but that light centre could be turned into something pretty special.

The one above is very interesting, but a bit dark for me.

The last Log Cabin variation for this week would make a nice quilt, or a nice mat for the floor.

That is all for this week, but there will be more Log Cabin designs mid week, next week.

Curved Cornerstones + 116, 117, 118, 119, 120 from Virtual Quilter

The first design makes me think of a spider web. Interesting.

The design above is interesting too.

I like the design above!

Another interesting design.

I like the last for this week too!

I love going to a quilt exhibition and seeing Log Cabin quilts, but am disappointed that almost all of them are replicas of age old designs … nothing new. My favourite Log Cabin designs include some of those age old designs, but I would love to see new designs too … some of them could added to my favourites.

Less Logs in the Cabin 96, 97, 98, 99, 100 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting centre, and a very unusual border!

Another interesting centre.

Looks like a road map for a city centre.

Slight change to get the designs above ….

… and another change.

That is all for this week’s quilter’s mid week break, and there will be another chance to stop briefly to look at more Log Cabin quilt designs next week.

Log Cabin Mix 36, 37, 38, 39, 40 from Virtual Quilter

Exciting. Certainly more exciting than the average Log Cabin quilts I have seen anywhere.

A bit more mundane.

Another exciting design.

Interesting design above.

Another very interesting design to complete this weeks collection of Log Cabin quilt designs.

More Log Cabin designs mid week, next week.

Now I have to make sure I get this posted in the middle of the week, and I have checked the day and date three times so far to make sure I get it right.

TNT Logs 71, 72, 73, 74, 75 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting design to start with, though my Mid Week Quilter’s Log Cabin Retreat is a day late. I am not too sure if my calendar or the clock is misleading me … got to be one of them!

The second design is exactly the same as the first, but with the colours reversed.

I am not too interested in the design above, but what if I reverse the colours again.

I love the change!

You will have to wait until I next open this project file to see what happens with the last design for today when the colours are ...

Cabin Fever 131, 132, 133, 134, 135 from Virtual Quilter

I like the first design for this week’s mini retreat.

Second is very interesting. The blocks in the centre could be changed many ways inside the dark frame.

I am not impressed by the third design … too busy.

Much more interesting.

Love the last for this week.

More Log Cabin quilt designs mid week next week.

If ever I run out of interesting things to do it would be interesting to go through this project file using a mixture of colours, particularly in the centre area of the designs. It would need to be a long break from the ...

Applique Logs 96, 97, 98, 99, 100 from Virtual Quilter

Lots of piecing, followed by lots of applique.

Love the design above.

I haven’t opened this project file for years, and the fabrics are dated, but I learned early on as a quilter that the colours don’t really matter if the contrast works. The contrast in this file isn’t perfect either, but the design is appealing despite that.

Sort of turned the design of the centre inside out and I still love it.

The four extra blocks with applique make it an even better design. I have decided not to spend hours changing the fabric choices in ...

Framed by Logs OP 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 from Virtual Quilter

Very interesting.

This project file was started simply to see how the edges of a mixed bag of Log Cabin blocks could be bordered. Curved bits, pointy bits can be mixed with straight lines of zigzags! One day I should add designs to the centre areas of all these designs.

The extra curves in the second design is telling me that a large area of applique could work well in the centre as well.

I guess any pieced blocks could be used to fill the blank space to. or perhaps a mixture of pieced and applique blocks.

Of course, just ...

Cabin Fever Quilted 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 from Virtual Quilter

I think I would like the backs of these designs as much, if not more, than the front.

Another option would be to make all the blocks in very pale washed out colours, not just the light areas.

I love hand quilting, but the curves in the quilting look like a great design for machine work.

The steps around the deign above are interesting, but I am trying to work out if I like them or not!

Very simple layout for the coloured parts, but I love the quilting design on the light areas.

Less Logs for Christmas 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 from Virtual Quilter

A very interesting design for any time of the year, in any colours too.

A nice neat and tidy design.

Same design, with a little bit of extra colour.

With only three logs on each side of these designs they still have a lot of impact.

The last design for this week, and I like the addition of the little bit of red, but I still forgot to turn one block ninety degrees!

More Log Cabin designs, mid week, next week.

Cabin Fever Christmas Edition 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 from Virtual Quilter

The red fabrics look sparkly!

I already have far too many Christmas decorations but I really want to print a whole heap of quilt designs to use on Christmas trees, and as banners.

Perhaps I will have to cull some of my Christmas stash so I can add new bits to the collection.

In the meantime I will have to finish putting up some of my favourite decorations today.

At least i have posted all the Christmas mail.

TNT Logs + 101, 102, 103, 104, 105 from Virtual Quilter

I rather like the first design, though I think I would like it better on the floor than on a bed.

Very interesting.

What if I change the light fabrics to dark and vice versa, and change a few blocks.

The design is much lighter, but with dark lacey bits.

What if I add four dark blocks ….

Interesting, but not better than it was.

I think the last one is my favourite design this week, but there are many more designs in this project file for future reference.

Seeing them all together makes it easy to see the changes I ...

Log Cabin Mix 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 from Virtual Quilter

Not a bit mix up in the first design.

More mixed up in the second, which I like because it is less boring to make a mixture of blocks rather than 64 identical blocks.

Looks like a willy-willy (or whirlwind) touched down in the sewing room.

Love the design above!

The last one is almost boring after the fourth one!

Cabin Fever 126, 127, 128, 129, 130 from Virtual Quilter

In today’s selection of Log Cabin variations I have used just five variations, and one of them has been used just four times in one design.

The changes are rather subtle, but interesting.

The changes could be used in real quilts when we run out of one of the fabrics, and in the one above have to find a totally different fabric to finish the quilt.

I think the design above is my favourite of today’s section.

I love seeing how small changes of blocks and their placement, and orientation, can change a design.

That is all for ...

Cabin Fever Isolation Area 56, 57, 58, 59, 60 from Virtual Quilter

As usual on Wednesdays I share more quilt designs than other days of the week so you can have a longer coffee break sometime during the day. This week while you have your very short retreat from the mad, mad world, I am in the middle of a Monday to Friday retreat with quilters , and maybe even doing a few stitches occasionally.

Not a lot of variety in the blocks used in the first two designs, but two very different results.

Another different but interesting design!

Different again … though I think I might be repeating myself.

My favourite in this ...

Curved Cornerstones + 106, 107, 108, 109, 110 from Virtual Quilter

Not even many variations of the curved Log Cabin blocks in the first design, and none of the rest of the variations of Log Cabin that are included in the + sign in the title.

Interesting mix of curves and straight rows of little squares in the second.

My favourite of this weeks collection is above!

Love the centre of the one above … it made me think of the ornate speakers on some of the old Bakelite radios, with waves of sound around it.

That’s all for this week’s mid week retreat from the crazy world

This time next ...

Logs on Point + 106, 107, 108, 109, 110 from Virtual Quilter

The title of this project file indicates it uses on point settings and the plus sign indicates that the blocks include variations of the basic Log Cabin block.

The first design above uses variations of colouring mostly, but there are some Courthouse Steps blocks amongst them.

The second design is very similar, but with eight Curved Log Cabin blocks.

Four curves in the third, but there are also Chimneys and Cornerstones.

Sixteen Curved Log Cabin variations in the one above, along with some Courthouse Steps, and basic Log Cabin in the border.

I love the last two!

Logs on the Pile 76, 77, 78, 79, 80 from Virtual Quilter

Mostly Chimneys and Cornerstones blocks in the first design, but tipped on point in this project file.

Not many Chimneys and Cornerstones in the second design, but some Curved Log Cabins.

It is going to be hard to pick a favourite today … maybe the one above …

… or maybe the one above!

There are not too many variations of the Log Cabin block not represented in these designs.

Log Cabin Mixed 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting Log Cabin quilt design, mostly Curved Log Cabin.

The second design is more interesting!

Love the third design!

And the fourth! Nothing boring about today’s logs.

Log Cabin blocks are easy to cut and construct, and their is no limit to the design possibilities.

That is all for this week’s Log Cabin retreat, but there will be more next week.
