Make-A-List Monday - Where Are My Minions???? from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

I had SUCH a productive week last week - and managed to knock out everything on my list by early Saturday afternoon!  It was a Christmas miracle!!!  But I started thinking about what needs to be done next and I have only one question... where ARE my minions?

But before we get to that, let's see how last week's list went....

1.  Bind the Rockin' Rectangles quilt.
2.  Write a tutorial for that quilt.
Done!  It turned out so nice - it's such a peaceful color combination that it's restful just looking at it!  You can ...

Make-A-List Monday - A Little Off Track... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Well, last week was a busy one for me - - - how about for you?  Lots of sewing, spending time with my grandkids, unexpected projects and timelines changing - it's all good!  So let's see how last week's list went....

1.  Finish the Supernova ministry quilt.
Done!  I'll be sharing this quilt and the story behind it on Friday.

2.  Write at least one Rockin' Rectangles tutorial.
Done!  The tutorial for this quilt appeared this past Sunday.

3.  Quilt two ministry quilts.
A little change of plan - Rita quilted these two, but I did the binding. Our ...

Hi, all!

A new week is beginning, and fall has definitely shown up in force!  Cool weather and rainy days makes for good sewing weather, doesn't it?  I've also got some home improvement projects on my horizon, though, so I'm going to work for some balance between the two.

First, though, let's look at last week's list and check on progress...

1.  Finish piecing the third memory quilt top.
2.  Make the quilt backs.
3.  Quilt all three memory quilts.
4.   Applique pockets on all three quilts.
Done, done, done, DONE!!  The last of my ...

I May Have a Scrap Problem... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Well, it's been busy week in my home town.... I kind of miss Garrison Keillor, don't you?  Lake Wobegon always seemed like a fun place to live.  That's a strange way to start a quilting blog post, but it just kind of flowed that way!  It has been busy, here, though - I've been working on a semi-scrappy project...

These three memory quilts seem scrappy, being made from twelve garments.  I love the way the fabrics all work together so well!  These are going to be wonderfully cozy quilts, and oh, the memories they hold ...

Make-A-List Monday - Where Did My Week Go? from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Honestly - where did the week go?  I took a look at my list from last week this morning and realized there was no way I was going to make any inroads on it.  So let's take a look at last week's progress...

1.  Cut out blocks from a big stack of clothing for three memory quilts.
Done!  Almost 600 5" squares from twelve different pieces of clothing, plus blocks from TN Titans fabric and some St Louis Cardinals logos.

2.  Start assembling at least two of those memory quilts.
Done!  I've managed to assemble two ...

"How Much Would You Charge..." from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

If people know you quilt, it's likely that you've heard that question: "How much would you charge me to make a quilt?"

And you've probably either drawn a blank, or quoted a price right off the top of your head without thinking.

We've all been there!  Let me tell you about my experience...

Several years ago, a friend at church asked me about making a very large t-shirt quilt for her, and wanted to know how much I would charge. I started to tell her $100, but then I remembered an article I read ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Another One Down... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Have you had a productive week?  Hard to believe it's already Friday, but it is - and that means it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  So let's jump right in and get started...

As fall settles in, peoples' minds turn towards Christmas - and towards Christmas presents.  And thankfully, a good number of them think of quilts, and then of me!  This week, I finished up one of those Christmas gifts, and having been assured that the recipient won't see my blog...

I can show you more than what I'm limited ...

Make-A-List Monday - Where Does The Time Go? from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It seems like it was just Monday - and here it is again!  The weeks really do fly as we get closer to Christmas.  I had a great time visiting in real life with blog friends over the weekend, and now it's time to get back to work!   But first, let's see how last week's list went...

1.  Cut out the fabric sashing and cornerstones for one of the t-shirt quilts. (Cut two if the other fabric arrives in time!)
Done!  And I not only got it cut out, I sewed it together!  Here's a ...

Make-A-List Monday - Taking Time To Breathe! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Well, after a super busy week two weeks ago, God decided to help me take a little break - a sore back can really slow you down!  But I did get a bunch of stuff done anyway (although not everything I wanted to) so let's see how last week's list went!

1.  Assemble the furniture for the guest room and get it all set up.
Done!  Unfortunately, this was the project that took out my back and made me slow down... But doesn't it look awesome?  I've added a mattress to the top bunk now ...

Here you can see five of them - the last bunch to be delivered.  Sadly, I couldn ...

Make-A-List Monday - Like A Chicken.... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

I kind of feel like I'm running around like a chicken with my head chopped off this week, hence the title of this week's Make-a-List Monday post!  So many things I want to do, so many more I need to do, and a bunch I have to do - and not enough hours in the week!  Anyone else out there feel like this?

Well, enough of that.  Let's look at what happened with last week's list...

1.  Quilt the last two memory quilts.
Done!  I am so happy to have these finished - they will be ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Memories..... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Guess what?  It's Friday again (do they seem to be coming faster, or is it my imagination?) which means it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  Are you ready?  Let's get started!

This week I finished another one of the memory quilts...

This one is made from pieces of dress shirts and silk ties.  Lots of silky, slippery fabrics that required stabilizing before sewing.

I quilted it using Glide thread in Battleship Gray - it has a wonderful shiny luster that shows up nicely against the dressier fabrics.

And even the back looks ...

Make-a-List Monday - Are We Having Fun Yet? from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Are we really more than halfway through September?  How did that happen?  So much to do, and the time goes so fast!  But it's all good, isn't it? I've got lots on my plate, so let's see how last week's list went....

1.  Sandwich the remaining four memory quilt tops.
Done!  Here are the two that still need to be quilted...

2.  Quilt at least two of those tops.
Done!  I quilted these three...

3.  Help with a major clean-up and re-organization in the quilt room at church.
Done!  There's always a ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Triplets! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Friday is finally here, and can you believe that September is almost half over?  Time always flies so fast as fall arrives - but there's always time to get our whoop whoop on, isn't there?  So let's get started!

Today I have a long-awaited finish...

(And if you follow me on Instagram you'll think you've seen this a lot, but it's really just three of a kind...)

These three memory quilts were made from patches cut from men's denim shirts, alternated with patches of Kona Snow.

Three different backings, because you ...

Handprint Quilt from Snowy Days Quilting

handprint quilt

I recently had the privilege to make this quilt on commission for Quail Hollow Cooperative Day School. Chris Nelson, a local businessman, wrote off the school's debt. Since they know he loves quilts, they wanted to give him one to express their gratitude.

The best part of the whole experience was painting with the kids. I needed a portable surface to take between the classrooms, so I taped together some cardboard to get the right size.

Since I didn't want the fabric to stick to the cardboard, I covered it with trash bags. This is what it looked ...

Make-A-List Monday - Enjoying a Taste of Fall! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It's beginning to feel a lot like fall around here - it didn't hit 70 degrees until after 1 pm today, AND pumpkin spice lattes are back at Starbucks!  Our temperatures are expected to go back up later this week, but PSLs will still be here, so it's all good.  I'm keeping an eye on the weather on the east coast, as I'm sure many of you are too - I have lots of family over there that may be affected by the storm.  If you're in the path, stay safe, and evacuate if ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Some Fall Fun... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

This week has just flown by (kind of like the leaves I am starting to see fluttering by my windows) and that means, because it's Friday, it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!!  Are you ready?  Let's get started!

Let's start with the quilt-y finish first, shall we?  I have to say, it's really nice to have an honest-to-gosh finish again!

This week I quilted the first of the memory tops!  This one is made from golf shirts. As you can see in the picture below, the logos from the ...

Make-A-List Monday - No Rest For The Wicked! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

I hope you have all had a happy and safe Labor Day weekend!  It's been fun around here, lots of time spent with my hubby (two movies!) and started a new tradition this morning with the 1st Annual Labor Day Big Breakfast!  We had all the kids (big and little) over early and made waffles, biscuits, sausage gravy, scrapple, bacon, and of course, eggs.  We ate until we were wallowing and then went outside and the adults sat on the deck while the kids ran around in the yard.  A great time was had by all!  But ...

Can I Get a Whoop Whoop? Easin' on Down The Road... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Wow, has it been week!  But it's finally Friday, and that means it's time to get our whoop whoop on!  I'm excited to have some things to share this week, so let's get started...

If you'll remember, last week I didn't have much to show because I had been painting.  Well, I painted some more this week, and I learned a valuable lesson while doing so.  My first attempt at chalk painting yielded this...

I wasn't very happy with the way it finished, and sent this pic to my daughter (who ...
