Make-a-List Monday - Are We Having Fun Yet? from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Are we really more than halfway through September?  How did that happen?  So much to do, and the time goes so fast!  But it's all good, isn't it? I've got lots on my plate, so let's see how last week's list went....

1.  Sandwich the remaining four memory quilt tops.
Done!  Here are the two that still need to be quilted...

2.  Quilt at least two of those tops.
Done!  I quilted these three...

3.  Help with a major clean-up and re-organization in the quilt room at church.

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Triplets! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Friday is finally here, and can you believe that September is almost half over?  Time always flies so fast as fall arrives - but there's always time to get our whoop whoop on, isn't there?  So let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

Today I have a long-awaited finish...

(And if you follow me on Instagram you'll think you've seen this a lot, but it's really just three of a kind...)

Triplets!!

These three memory quilts were made from patches cut from men's denim shirts, alternated with patches of Kona Snow.

Three different backings, because you ...

Handprint Quilt from Snowy Days Quilting

handprint quilt

I recently had the privilege to make this quilt on commission for Quail Hollow Cooperative Day School. Chris Nelson, a local businessman, wrote off the school's debt. Since they know he loves quilts, they wanted to give him one to express their gratitude.

The best part of the whole experience was painting with the kids. I needed a portable surface to take between the classrooms, so I taped together some cardboard to get the right size.

Since I didn't want the fabric to stick to the cardboard, I covered it with trash bags. This is what it looked ...

Make-A-List Monday - Enjoying a Taste of Fall! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It's beginning to feel a lot like fall around here - it didn't hit 70 degrees until after 1 pm today, AND pumpkin spice lattes are back at Starbucks!  Our temperatures are expected to go back up later this week, but PSLs will still be here, so it's all good.  I'm keeping an eye on the weather on the east coast, as I'm sure many of you are too - I have lots of family over there that may be affected by the storm.  If you're in the path, stay safe, and evacuate if ...

This week I quilted the first of the memory tops!  This one is made from golf shirts. As you can see in the picture below, the logos from the ...

Make-A-List Monday - No Rest For The Wicked! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

I hope you have all had a happy and safe Labor Day weekend!  It's been fun around here, lots of time spent with my hubby (two movies!) and started a new tradition this morning with the 1st Annual Labor Day Big Breakfast!  We had all the kids (big and little) over early and made waffles, biscuits, sausage gravy, scrapple, bacon, and of course, eggs.  We ate until we were wallowing and then went outside and the adults sat on the deck while the kids ran around in the yard.  A great time was had by all!  But ...

Hi, all!

Wow, has it been week!  But it's finally Friday, and that means it's time to get our whoop whoop on!  I'm excited to have some things to share this week, so let's get started...

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

If you'll remember, last week I didn't have much to show because I had been painting.  Well, I painted some more this week, and I learned a valuable lesson while doing so.  My first attempt at chalk painting yielded this...

I wasn't very happy with the way it finished, and sent this pic to my daughter (who ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Hugs and Kisses... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Wow, it's Friday again!  And not only Friday, but the beginning of a week at the beach for me - definitely whoop-worthy!  I'm sure you've got things to whoop about too, so let's get right down to it!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

A few years ago, my friend contacted me about making a quilt for her first granddaughter, and we had a lot of fun creating a special quilt for Sadie.  I was overjoyed when she contacted me recently to make a quilt for her second granddaughter!  She picked out a great kit from Hawthorne Threads, using Maureen Cracknell ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? A Great Workspace... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Friday is here once again - and that means it's time to get our whoop whoop on!!  Are you ready?  Let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

I did finish up a few things this week...

First up was this bright little quilt for a 2-year old boy with cystic fibrosis.  It was VERY windy, as you can see in the pictures above - I managed to get pictures of the flimsy (sort of) but didn't get any of the finished quilt before I delivered it!  Oops....

I also finished the two t-shirt quilts!

But my favorite finish of the past ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? A Pair of Quilt Tops... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It's hard to believe, but Friday has rolled around again, and you know what that means - it's time to get our whoop whoop on!!  I honestly don't know where this week went, but I've been doing a lot of sewing - some I can share now, some that will have to wait for a little while.  So let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

I have had the joy and pleasure of making a pair of t-shirt memory quilts for a customer this week.  Her sister died recently and she wanted to use her t-shirts to recall the ...

Make-A-List Monday - Progress! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It's been a long holiday weekend and it's looking to be a longer one - we had snow and ice on Friday and there's snow headed our way for Tuesday, with schools closed already.  Gotta love winter!  At least it makes for good sewing days....

So let's take a look at how last week's list went...

1.  Take some donated blocks and turn them into a toddler quilt for the ministry.
Done!  This is such a cheerful, happy quilt...

2.  Quilt at least one quilt for the quilt ministry.
Done!  This was a first ...

Make-A-List Monday - Change of Plans! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It's Monday, the holidays are rushing like a freight train, and all my plans got derailed last week!  More about that later, but let's see how last week's list went...

1.  For this week's house cleaning tasks, deep clean the kitchen and gather up a load of things and take them to Goodwill.
I did get most of this done - pulled a bunch of old small appliances that we never use, cleaned out the old spices, and cleaned up the fridge.   I still need to wipe down the countertops and cabinets, but I think ...

Can I Get a Whoop Whoop? Vintage Beauty... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Wow!  Did this week fly by, or what?  And I've got so many irons in the fire right now, I was worried I wouldn't have anything to "whoop" about, but then I remembered something I actually finished - so now it's time to get down to it!  Think hard and find something of your own to whoop about (even if it isn't a finish!) and join in the fun.  Let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

About a week ago, a friend asked me if I could quilt a top made by her great-grandmother.   I love to help ...

Make-A-List Monday - Winter Is Coming! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Well, fall has "done fell" here in Middle Tennessee!  We had some vicious winds, rain, and cooler weather today - I actually jumped out of my skin when a large branch came down on the roof and made a heck of a racket as it proceeded to the ground.  When I walked outside I realized that it really was fall - it smells different, have you noticed?  And that reminded me that winter (and Christmas) is just around the corner!  Time to get busy!

Here's how last week went....

1.  Finish the t-shirt quilt and deliver.
Done!  It turned ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Paying Work Rocks! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

This week has just flown by, and it's finally Friday!  And that means it's time to get our whoop whoop on - are you ready?  I know I am!  Let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

I am happy to say that I finished this commission T-shirt quilt!  And just ahead of the deadline - SCORE!

Slowly but surely, these puzzle-style quilts are getting easier.  This one actually laid flat the first time I put it together!   And I didn't rip out any hair trying to do the quilt math....  That's a win in my book!

The front...

I ...
