I need to learn to take selfies.
I tried taking a picture of me wearing the shirt, but it’s that funky kind of overcast here and it didn’t work out well.
It washed up nice and turned out the way I envisioned it. Now it just needs to get warm enough to wear it. I may add a stitch at the top to cut back on the cleavage. Either that or wear a tank under it.
I’ve really missed the thrift stores during the quarantine. I hope to make it to one this weekend now that they ...

I bought this blouse at the thrift late last year.
It’s a petite medium and I am a not petite small.
It’s a little big in the shoulders, but I can live with it. Because the sleeves have elastic, I can position them above my elbows . They look fine and are comfortable.
There was also elastic at the bottom. When I positioned it at my waist, the shirt was very full and too short. This was not a good look on me. I picked out a small section of the casing seam, cut the elastic and removed it ...
It’s hard to believe it’s time for a new list. I’m hoping the weather will improve and get me out of the house more, but you never know about May. It could be warm, but it could be wet and cool. As long as the sun shines I’m happy.
I finished the UFO, Bears With Borders, in April.
The Short List categories are UFO, garment, original design, stitchery, charity and other. I’ve used some form of this system for over 5 years to help keep me focused. I change the categories as my goals and ...
It’s a new quarter and time for new quarterly and semi-annual goals. I had to make some adjustments to April’s goals because I don’t have supplies for some projects and don’t know when I can get them. I just shifted projects forward to the next quarter and picked other goals. I would have picked those projects eventually, and the order isn’t that important. I didn’t finish anything last month but made good progress on three projects.
The Short List categories are UFO, garment, original design, stitchery, charity and other. I’ve used some form ...
No fabric in this week. I finished the Vogue 8253 shirt for 1.25 yards out.
This was a fun garment to sew. I bought the fabric at the thrift a couple years ago. It has the feel of polyester, but it held a press, so I’m thinking there’s some rayon in it. It was a dream to sew. I thought it might “grow” as I stitched because of the texture, but it didn’t.
I added width to the back and shortened it. I probably could have gotten away without the back adjustment because the fabric had ...
There’s been a lot of life going on here.
Most of my sewing time this week went toward the Vogue shirt. I hope to finish it tomorrow. I’ve enjoyed sewing that shirt more than anything else I’ve made in a long time. It felt good to have a fun project.
I also had Needlearts Guild this week with Show and Tell of projects in process. There are some really lovely projects in the works. That group is so talented.
Today was the book sale at the library. I only picked up one quilt book, although I did ...
Not much progress on the list last month. Many projects moved forward, but nothing was finished. I’ll see a few finishes this month.
The Short List categories are UFO, garment, original design and stitchery. I’ve used some form of this system for over 5 years to help keep me focused. I change the categories as my goals and interests change.
UFO – All the frames are embroidered on the Bear quilt. It’s waiting its turn in line.
Garment – Very Easy Vogue shirt. This project is next on the list, in either green or pink. I’ll pull the ...
Happy New Year!
The Short List got a makeover for the new year. The categories now align with my quarterly goals instead of the more random categories of something old, something new, a handwork project, and creative play/design. I’ve used this system for over 5 years and think this format is more focused. As always, I can change the categories if my goals or interests change.
UFO – Ten block frames down, two to embroider on the Bear quilt.Garment – Very Easy Vogue 8253. I bought green fabric, but I also have a deep pink from the thrift that ...
It’s that time of year when you see a lot of 2019 recaps and 2020 plans. I’ve been thinking about 2020 for a few weeks now, keeping in mind where I am and where I want to be.
This wasn’t one of my more productive sewing years. A leg injury late in 2018 kept me out of the sewing room and focused on healing the first part of the year. I couldn’t move around well and stayed off my feet with the leg elevated after work each day. Eventually it healed and life went on.
One ...
Welcome, fabric lovers!
Happy to say that temperatures are going down in south Florida, which just calls for the coziest of clothes! Although each collection that AGF comes out with is exciting, today this is a very special occasion because we are releasing more prints to our KNITS substrate. You might've seen our knits in solid and striped, but by popular demand, KNIT SPOTTED has been added! Coming in two different types of polka dots- ranging in a softer pastel palette to classic black and white. There are options for any age!
If you've sewn with our fabrics ...
No fabric out this week.
I purchased fabric to make the Vogue top. Considering all the sales this weekend, I believe I used incredible restraint.
The fabric is a rayon/poly gauze in a true green, although it doesn’t look it in the picture. The color is called “green pepper”. The pattern and fabric are in the “to be made” queue. No shoving it all in a drawer and forgetting about it. It will likely be an early 2020 project.
Fabric Added: 59.7
Fabric Used: 22.875 yards
Net Fabric In: 36.825 yards

One of the best things to take off stress is to shop. It does not matter if you are doing it physically or online, but there is just something about gaining something.
The problem at times though is that you tend to do not know if it is really right for you. This is a good example of clothes. There is a variety out there, and some will certainly look good. But even if does look good, it seems not right for you while to others it is. The reason for this is because we have different body shapes and ...
read moreClothing nowadays is more than essential. We still need it, but what we have in our closets is more than what we need. That is because it is also becoming a lifestyle. The way you dress determines who you are: your personality, your status, and even your interests. Because of that, buying clothes became a lot of expensive than we think.
Have you tried dressmaking or sewing your own clothes? Some people are really into DIY these days, and clothes are no different. But will there be a difference in making and buying your own clothes?

I attended my first quilt market as an exhibitor, meaning Robert Kaufman had booths not me as an individual, and I had a blast. I have been once before with a quilt shop I worked at when I was living in Minnesota, but it was cool to see the show from the other side. I am in the precut department and my show duties included booth set-up, helping with schoolhouse sessions, sample spree, and then helping in the booth during the actual show.
Since I was working the show I didn’t take a ton of pictures but I ...
