Coco the rescue from Niagara Dog Rescue in the back. Nina the rescue from Hamilton-Burlington SPCA in the front. Two dogs who don't exactly like to wear Santa hats, lol.

The only thing missing is the quilting motifs.
Not a lot of space for quilting motifs in the second design, and I love it!
I hope you have all been good in the past year, and that you have a wonderful Christmas followed by a great year in 2024.
read moreThis was not made as a Christmas quilt, but the colours do give it that sort of feel.
I had several pieces from the Under The Australian Sun range left over and wanted to use them in a simple quilt that focused on the reds and golds. A post and rail seemed the way to go.
The next picture gives a better sense of the true colours.
Thankfully I had enough to complete the quilt top.
I had a piece of cream fabric in my stash for the backing.
I used the red gum leaf fabric for the binding as ...

I wonder if I can find bulk small bells so I can hang strings of bells in every room of the house.
They would jingle whenever the windows are open to let in cool air, which would be lovely at this time of the year when the weather is heating up, and the air conditioner would make them jingle when it is too hot to have windows open..
I would also like pelmets over the windows to display shelf sitting decorations.

I needed to do some baking to take up to my daughter’s home for Christmas, and had promised to make some of my delicious Chocolate Cherry Slice. This is rich and decadent and is a lovely treat for Christmas. Made with a chocolate base and topped with a coconut and glace chocolate topping, it is certainly a winner.

I also offered to make a bacon and egg pie to help ...

Love it in Christmas colours, but it would look great in many different colourways.
Very different to the first design, and I like it too, especially the quilting motifs based on pieced blocks.
read moreMy lovely friend has a ‘Christmas Gnome thing’ and I wanted to surprise her with a table runner. Using Derwent Inktense pencils, I coloured a stitched out digital pattern from My Creative stitches. I must admit it was a bit of trial and error selecting the correct mix of Textile Medium and water and experimenting with the pencil strokes and depth of colour I required. I practiced on the recommended calico fabric which did a better result than the plain quilting cottons. The calico does not bleed like the plain cottons. The runner was finished off with a red peeper ...

I have hidden some toys in amongst the logs for this weeks mid week Log Cabin retreat.
I wonder how many toys are being wrapped up each day at the moment.
Love the design above.
At a Christmas lunch a few days ago the man next to me found a tiny little spinning top in a Christmas cracker. I had to test it out, and it worked beautifully. It just kept spinning, but it was way too small for a small child to be allowed to play with it, but it kept me and the gentleman amused for a few ...

I have over 1800 posts, categorized on the sidebar, so you can always browse for more ideas. I’ve picked out some fun posts from past years for your enjoyment today. Let’s start with a Nine Patch Star Christmas runner. We did this as a quick quilt along in 2017, in three parts.
This Wool Applique Christmas Penny Rug was perfect for my tiny frolicking reindeer. This ...

I like the first design.
Very interesting design. I might have to change things for future designs in this project file.
I wonder what it would look like in shades of gold, and should it be on a light background, or a dark one? Something to play with before next Christmas.

I bet he is saying “It’s not quite straight, Dear.”
I think she told him to go deliver the Christmas Mail!
read moreJust in time for Christmas, I've received my new hand crafted quilt ladder. Robin had found a plan to make one of these on the internet, and asked his Menz Shed builder friend for advice. While he was in hospital getting his second knee replacement, and the subsequent eight weeks recovery time, Brian the builder took the job over for him. He measured the timber, cut and assembled the ladder for Robin - how kind of him. Once Robin could comfortably stand on his knee again, he took over the sanding and the wood staining. And then brought it home ...

Lots of shopping has happened, including these gorgeous biscuit tins. Love the way the bauble has been incorporated into the tin. And, yes, it spins!
The colour and the design on the tin could have easily fitted into my quilt. This is another panel being used and completed.
I have kept it simple with just a few borders added. Each of the squares have delightful images.
I found a lovely piece in my stash to use on the back.
The binding was a ...
