Wrapping up the Giveaway and A Few Christmas-Look Quilts from Quilty Folk

The Giveaway for free Autumnal Tulip applique templates is now over and I'm totally caught up! Can you believe that I sent out 86 pdf's in all? Crazy. Definitely underestimated the lure of free applique templates! For those of you who requested a pdf and did not receive one, please email me directly.

Quarter Triangles for the finish!

Quarter Triangles ended up being the very last finish of the year. I started the quilt with the idea of using up old tired green fabrics sometime last winter.
Loving this backing fabric

Then I found the Christmassy floral languishing ...

Toys 4 Christmas 58, 59, 60, 61 from Virtual Quilter

J hope there are a lot of very excited little people around the world, waking up to an fun filled family day.

I have thought several times that perhaps I should design some new toys for this series, but two nights ago two preschool children, and their big brother heading for his second year of school, came to visit.

The middle one remembered the basket of toys he found at our place last year, and went looking. He found them, and started carrying assorted bits of wooden trains to show us, with help of his young sister. He then brought ...

I really love this vintage Santa...its SWELL.
2020 didn't give me much to be happy about...
Sew I have collected the fabrics and the very large applique
and this will be on my radar for 2021.

Many of my quilty friends gave me fabrics and

I am leaning toward this quilt.
I have the pattern.

But isn't this log cabin amazing?

I like the Scrappy Trip Around the World
but that's a LOT of seams!

But if you know me, you KNOW I love a Churn Dash.

I have some time to consider ...

Free Candle Quilt Block Pattern from Craft Gossip

Just in time for the holidays, this quilt block of a group of candles from Quilt Jane, would make a lovely tiny mini quilt, or a festive addition to a Christmas sampler quilt.

The block measures 8 1/2″ square.  The candle flames are freeform and they give plenty of movement to the design.  Other than the flames, the block is easy patchwork piecing.  Honestly, even the freeform flames are easy.

You could do this in a number of pretty color combinations and the candles are not just for Christmas.  The design could be incorporated in many different ways.

I ...

Quilted Gnome Mug Rug Pattern from Craft Gossip

Described as “the cutest gnome mug rug ever”, that description is pretty accurate.  Just looking at this guy from The Crafty Quilter puts a smile on your face.  Make one, or a whole set, with this easy tutorial.

More and more gnomes are popping up in home décor, and not just for Christmas.  Some people display them all year ’round.  If you are, or know a, gnome collector, then this mug rug would be a great addition to any collection.

It’s essentially a smaller version of a gnome quilt block.  When finished, this mug rug measures 6 1/2 ...

Scrap Fabric Folded Christmas Tree Ornaments from Craft Gossip

For an easy and quick scrap fabric Christmas ornament look no further than these lovely trees from Life After Laundry.  The green and red fabrics shown are so festive, but you could easily do this in any color of your choice.

Every year, a friend of mine decorates her tree in blue, white, and silver colors.  Luckily I have just the blue and silver fabric that would be perfect for it so I think I’m going to make her one of these.  It would make a nice little homemade trinket to let her know I am thinking about her ...

Free Snowman Quilt and Throw Pillow Pattern from Craft Gossip

I’m pretty sure that everyone needs one of these absolutely adorable snowmen quilts and throw pillows.  Well, at least I do.  This free pattern from Patchwork Posse is an easy and fast project to make.

With the exception of the appliquéd carrot nose and the button eyes, this is a patchwork quilt made up of squares, half square triangles, and some strips for the border.  Being a fan of scrappy quilts, this design immediately caught my eye because of the variety of blue squares.  They really help make those snowmen shine!

Measuring about 46 inches square, this wall hanging ...

Carolina Lily from Humble Quilts

Here is a Carolina Lily quilt I made in 2013. I saw it in a decorating magazine and just loved it!
But this isn't the type of quilt I'd start and finish- just too boring! LOL
So, I broke in down into small sections. I'd make 3 blocks a month so basically it would be 7 months to make the blocks, then I'd have 1 month to piece the blocks together and add a border. (or 2 months if I was distracted with other projects)  Either way I'd have a couple of months to get ...

Holiday Ornament Mini Quilt – Free Pattern from Craft Gossip

This charming mini Christmas ornament quilt from We All Sew is just the project for all of you who enjoy making half square triangles.  I’m not going to lie when I say that it is my favorite unit to make when quilting.

What is so intriguing about this pattern is that the circular part of the ornament is made as a square and then the circle is cut out of it.  That is how the half square triangles take on a different look.  And what an effect this has on the design.  The ornament practically twinkles with all of ...

A Surge of Productivity from Quilty Folk

So nice to finally have Dried Flowers completely finished! This one was started in July of 2018 and has always felt like a sweet little gem of a quilt. I love when a quilt starts out with a whisper and then gradually morphs into something so much greater than the initial seed of inspiration!

Dried Flowers is completed!

This one originated from a thorough deep-dive through the orphan totes one day when the lure of working with cut-out-from-the-backs-of-other-applique seemed especially enticing. At that moment, all I really wanted was something quick and easy to start stitching on.

Looking across the ...

It's Beginning to look like Christmas from Humble Quilts

I don't know if we will be putting up a tree, but I always display the vintage Santa suit that my FIL used to wear when his kids were little.

I made the goofy Santa, but look what he is sitting on!! Liz H made this for our antique block challenge and sent it to me as a thank you. I LOVE it and will proudly display it. Thanks again Liz.

No sewing for me yet, since the end of month/beginning of month is a busy time for me. We just put our part timer on full time ...

Charm Pack Christmas Tree – Free Quilt Pattern from Craft Gossip

Get ready for the holidays with this beautiful Christmas tree quilt from Jolly Jabber, the Fat Quarter Shop blog.  With the large tree in the center, surrounded by a scrappy border, the design is quite striking, yet simple. The absolute best part of this project is that there is a free pattern for a mini version too!  I love making minis.

Measuring the 59″ x 59″, the regular pattern is designed to be made with two charm packs and background fabric. It is an easy pattern to assemble.  The mini version measures 26 1/2″ x 26 1/2″ and ...

The Changing of the Quilty Season from Life in the Scrapatch

It is the weekend of the changing of the quilt seasons.

I am ticking away my fall (and some summer) quilts

and bringing out the Christmas and Winter quilts.

Katniss is helping.

Katniss says, "Why don't we just decorate the cat tree this year?"

It would save a lot of work rearranging the furniture.

For example, the cat tree usually goes out to a corner on our enclosed front porch.

Also, the cats treat the ornaments like their new cat toys anyway.

We will have a Christmas Tree this year.

More quilts and festive goodies coming soon!

In the ...
