Christmas in July and a Free Pattern! from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

Christmas in July is an advertising gimmick that we can be subjected to around this time of year, but for quilters, it's a good reminder to get going on all those Christmas projects! This July, I (Kara) am jumping on that early Christmas bandwagon and teaching a wool ornament at the USO. For 77 years, the United Service Organization has been helping the U.S. military and their families, so it is an honor to be able to help in a small way. We will be making a variation of the tree ornament that we posted this past December ...

Christmas In July! from From My Carolina Home

Dig out your Christmas in July stuff, as it is only five months until the old guy comes down the chimneys!  We can get started on gifts and decorations, and maybe have something new for the season.  Today is my day on Sarah’s Christmas in July blog hop at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.  I got a bit backed up on time, so I am going to show you this runner I did in a quilt along when my blog was fairly new.  For this event, I gathered all the instructions into a free downloadable pattern pdf so you ...

Have you heard about Jolly July? I’m partnering with Priscilla and Chelsea of The Real Housewives of Cross Stitch to make 31 ornaments in July! When December rolls around I’ll have a tree full of handmade cross stitch ornaments, which I hope will look as pretty as Priscilla’s Christmas trees.

For inspiration, check out Priscilla Blain’s Christmas Home Tour from 2018. You have to see her many Christmas trees – it’s amazing!

Are you up for a swap with a quick turn around? from Books, Hooks, Sticks, etc.

Cheryll is hosting a swap, Christmas in July.  You can find the details HERE.

She is an excellent swap hostess. . . I have been in several of her previous swaps and was very happy with them.

As she says on her announcement of the swap, the more the merrier, and the rules are not that daunting.

I hope that you will join us. . . . .

In peace and pieces,

A Work In Progress, A Fire, and A Winner! from Mountain Quiltworks

I've gotten sidetracked this week. As is the case in all the Western States, July and August seem to have become synonymous with wildfires. Sunday, a wildfire in mountainous pines and brush was started by some people shooting exploding targets. What the ??? Have you ever seen a video of exploding targets? It's like shooting off fireworks, with sparks flying in every direction! Within 48 hours,

Log onto Toys 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 from Virtual Quilter

Log onto Toys 31

It is the lastast day of my Christmas in July celebration, and as it is the middle of the week it is time for a short break looking at Log Cabin quilt designs.

Log onto Toys 32

I love it for two reasons … I get to play with some virtual toys and I get to play with quilt designs.

Log onto Toys 33

I am trying to pick a favourite design …

Log onto Toys 34

… think it might be the one above.

Log onto Toys 35

That’s it for Christmas until December, and also for this week’s mid week Log Cabin retreat.

12 Days of Christmas in July Blog Hop - Day 8! And More Giveaways! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It just occurred to me that by the 8th day of Christmas in the song, the poor object of the singer's affection had received 120 gifts - actually 128 if you count the 8 cows today's "maids a-milking" were milking!  Wow!  Now, we haven't had the same quantity of gifts through this hop as in the song, but we've certainly had some great quality, haven't we?  Fabulous projects so far, and so many more great ones to come!

Today we are joined by Marian, who blogs over at Seams to Be Sew.  She has ...

A Lighter Shade of Christmas 1, 2, 3, 4 from Virtual Quilter

A Lighter Shade of Christmas 1

Having a Christmas in July celebration featuring Virtual quilts gave me an excuse to start a new virtual Christmas project file. I have played with low contrast designs for some time, so thought it might be fun to create some low contrast Christmas designs too.

A Lighter Shade of Christmas 2

So, no more strong contrast with my usual red, white and green for Christmas.

A Lighter Shade of Christmas 3

So, for this project file at least, this is the last time you will be seeing red.

A Lighter Shade of Christmas 4

I like it!

Will have to play with this file to add some more designs to share in December!

Cabin Fever Christmas Edition 36, 37, 38, 39, 40 from Virtual Quilter

Cabin Fever Christmas Edition 36

Most of Australia does not get snow, but it is our best chance of getting a white Christmas, and enjoy a roast turkey dinner, so there are plenty of ways to celebrate Christmas in July in different ways to our usual hot weather with cold turkey!

Cabin Fever Christmas Edition 37

During the next couple of weeks I will share some inspiration for Christmas projects, though it is not often we need quilts on our beds at the end of December.

Cabin Fever Christmas Edition 38

At least Christmas Log Cabin quilts would be both seasonal and useful in the northern hemisphere, while I sometimes take a Christmas quilt to ...
