Eclipse Day!!! from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Maybe I've never said this before, but I give names to all of our trips. Mainly, it's to create a folder for storing images on my computer. Every trip has its own folder with a bunch of sub-folders for different locations. This trip has been given the name "Eclipse Trip." Our trip to Alaska next year...50th state, 50th year of marriage...has been dubbed the Fifty-Fifty Trip. I hope that doesn't mean our chances of actually going are only 50-50. But anyway...all of that to say that the day the trip ...

Wildflowers: Up Close and Personal from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We're hanging out here in Georgetown until after lunch. Our next stop in Whitney, Texas, is just about 120 miles down the road. Check-in there isn't until 3:00 p.m. We don't need to leave our spot in Georgetown until 2:00 p.m., and so it all works out. We can take our time this morning. We've had breakfast. I've played all my word games. Now I'm checking in with you guys, and then I can do some slow-stitching. It's going to be a low-key morning, despite ...

Wildflower Wonderland from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. The day went differently than expected yesterday. We ended up doing more fun stuff than expected. Also, the visit to the Inner Space Cavern is back on for today, and so the whole itinerary has been set right.

As it turns out, we weren't able to obtain the part we needed for our ailing slide topper. We'll catch up with it down the road in a couple of days. I didn't explain this when I mentioned it yesterday. Honestly, sometimes I get tired of talking about these little inconveniences. But this is what ...

Wonderful Wildflowers from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. What an absolutely delightful day of driving we had yesterday. I only hoped to see the Texas Bluebonnets, and boy, oh boy. Did we ever see Bluebonnets. I have lots of pictures of every blooming thing to show you today, so let's get started.

We left Fort Stockton under the watchful snoopervision of this woofie in the RV parked across from us. He looks as if he means business.

About 30 miles down the road, we left I-10 for the first time since Arizona. It was nice to get off the interstate. We took US ...

Moving On from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. If you thought you were going to get a break from my incessant prattle this morning, then you will be disappointed. I woke up early enough that I have time to write. This park in Fort Stockton is not too far off the freeway. Somehow, it's less noisy than one might expect, and we've slept well while we're here. Kitties usually have us waking up pretty early in the morning. I believe even they have slept in these past mornings.

The kitties have liked it here. Sadie has figured out that if she ...

A Day in the Life from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's our last day in Fort Stockton today. Tomorrow's drive will be the longest of our trip at around 323 miles. Happily, I believe we'll go through a section of Texas where we'll be able to see the Texas Bluebonnets. It's high up on my bucket list. They are so pretty, and I've wanted to see them for a long time. I found this image in the public domain. I'm hoping I can see something just like this.

Fort Stockton, Texas from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a short drive with plenty going on yesterday. We find ourselves in Fort Stockton, Texas, for three nights (two now).

As we left Fort Davis yesterday, I noticed another barn. There were a few more, but they were either too far off the road, or else they were hiding behind trees, making them impossible to capture.

The landscape on TX-17 looks similar to what we saw when we visited Chiricahua National Monument.

Topping a rise, we came upon this escarpment. I tried to identify it with what the Google could tell me about Texas ...

March Chookshed Stitchers Challenge update from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

March was a bit of a dud for me ...... my quilting mojo went to sleep and not as much got done.

Why?  Well ..... we have a new member of our family.  Meet Ridley.  He came to our back door and after posting on local FB pages to see if someone owned him and even after bringing him to SPCA for microchip scanning, no one has come forward and we have decided to keep him.  He is so friendly and loving and used to people and kids.

He captured hubby's heart and that was it .... he is ours now.  I ...

Good morning, my friends. Be careful out there today. A prankster is lurking around every corner. Who would ever think the first full month of spring would be so full of danger?

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, we had a day off for Easter Sunday. The kitties got into the swing of it right away. They spent their morning in synchronized napping.

I spent a good part of the afternoon cooking. I made a salad for last night's dinner. And then I made another salad for tomorrow night's dinner. And then I made dessert for our ...

Good morning, my friends, and Happy Easter to all who celebrate.

I'll admit that Easter is kind of a non-event around here, except that Matthew has a birthday coming up on April 2nd. He'll hit the big 4-0 this year. Every year since his birth, I've checked to see if Easter would fall on his birthday. So far, it hasn't. And since Easter baskets are no longer a part of our lives, Easter gets short shrift. Nevertheless, I remember attending Easter sunrise services with my mom, especially when my dad was deployed to Vietnam. She often ...

Fort Davis, Texas from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and welcome to the Lone Star State.

As we left New Mexico yesterday, I captured one of the many nut tree orchards we passed while there. Given the number of signs we saw advertising "local" pecan pie, I'm going to go out on a limb (did you see what I did there?) and say these are pecan trees.

It was only about 30 miles to the border.

We crossed over and into El Paso. It's the latest of many drives through El Paso. It seems interminably under construction. I'm adding this little image ...
