Warming Up in Winter from Bits From The Scrap Basket

Wow! I've been quilting like mad since Halloween and haven't posted anything! Since Steve helped reorganize my quilt studio (so many glorious shelves!) I'm piling up the completions.

Here was a little fun project from this weekend (because we're now working in the kitchen and cooking like mad). This was my first foray in soup bowl cozies (pictured with my adorable new crocks from Libby Glass Co - Toledo). My next attempt will be a slightly larger set for the bigger soup bowls.



Steve tested them out yesterday making his Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls - yum!

Design Decisions from Quilting Studio Adventures











My collection of black and white fabrics has been growing, and I have been looking for projects.  One for sure is going to be a log cabin, using 2" logs and creating 14" blocks.   I've also been eyeing a quilt of half-square triangles.  Here's that inspiration picture.




So, I began making half-square triangles using a separator strip between the two triangles, like in the inspiration picture.  And here's what I wound up with:
These blocks are in a symmetrical barn-raising design.  And - I don't love it.  What about adding a bit of color?
