Practice what you preach from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH MY GOSH!!!!!   We had so much fun at the Virtual Retreat. And I accomplished so much - way more than I normally would. And can you believe - I didn't shut the call down until 10:30 last night. I'm dead serious -- we had a NORMAL conversation, the same as if we were in the room together. The best part? There was me, someone from Ottawa, and two others in northerly regions of Ontario. Totally distanced apart, and we would NEVER be able to do that in person. Am I hooked on Zoom? Oh, you bet! What I love ...

UFO Show and Tell from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

UFOs are NOT unidentified flying objects. At least, not in the world of quilting! Nope - that means UNFINISHED OBJECT. And there are a ton of other acronyms that have so cleverly been put together over the years. OH MY -- I just found a site with a LOT of acronyms. Check them out! Some pretty funny ones.

Before I get to the show and tell, I need to clarify one small detail about my wee rant yesterday. Some people sign up for classes with excellent intentions. Then life deals them a blow, and they are not able to continue or even ...

The Design Wall for Quilter's - Part Two from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

A design wall is a CRITICAL part of a quilt studio. Why? You can't really appreciate what your quilt will look like, how the fabrics behave together, whether the values and colors work together without standing back and have a good long look. I've been known to throw stuff on the wall and then sit on a chair and just look. I would not be happy without my design wall. I'm working on my UFO, and here's what it looks like.

I got all the rows stitched together for this quilt top. Now it was decision ...

Why you NEED a design wall...... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Thank goodness, my foot is fine. Holy -- that hurt a LOT yesterday - well, just in the morning. It doesn't seem to be bruised. Well, the color of your feet/toes is so bizarre anyway that how can you tell if there's a bruise? It's a bit red, but it seems to be fine! I'm a bit apprehensive, though - I don't want to bang it again. The bad sewing machine got moved out of the way, as I should have done the day before!

I accomplished a few things in the morning on the computer. The ...

Why does a project become a UFO? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

For the most part, I'm happy with all my quilt projects. I like the fabrics I picked to work with, I like the pattern instructions, and I like the design. My issue is that I take on too much and literally run out of time to work on the project and that's why most of my UFOs are UFOs. Once I drag a UFO out and start to work on it, I get that same feeling of excitement as when I started.

However, I have ONE project that's a nightmare. I've stitched a fair number of ...

Scraps galore from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Can you believe the weather? It's glorious! A bit cooler today, but still above zero and so nice to get out and walk. And the sidewalks are clear of ice, although one does have to be careful as there are still a few patches of hidden ice, for the most part, they are clear. That makes me very happy.

I got a lot done yesterday. It was a super productive sewing day (Sit n Sew) which doesn't happen often. I'll share that with you tomorrow. Today it's all about the scraps. I was waiting to get ...

UFO Homework from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

With all this decluttering and learning how my phone works, there was one aspect of my phone that hadn't been done. How to put my pictures in the cloud. Well - now they are in the cloud and off my phone. How did I do that? Well, there are a lot of Google apps that one must learn how to use. So after a gentle push from Ronda to make that happen, the photos are now floating in the cloud. What I need to do now is start deleting some of them. There are loads that I no longer need ...
