boho monday from Making A Lather

I have had a roadblock working on this quilt. I stop and start alot. Last week, I was half way through this section 2, and, I was able to finish it in one evening. It was a great feeling. I am half way through the quilt. I have many of the blocks already done. I just have to sew the pesky vertical sections. I am doing a rainbow colored heart. There are two of us completely done, and, two of us still working on it. And I think the other friend is waiting for me to get closer, to finish ...

boho monday from Making A Lather

We had a fun Saturday with a trip to Danville Indiana for a woolkeepers 'hook in'. The weather was lovely and the skies were blue. The projects on display were amazing and wool was everywhere in beautiful colors. I managed to leave it all behind and spent my money on cushing dye to dye my own wool. I have started dyeing background for my village rug, and, I was afraid, I would not have enough of the dyes I used in the mixture. It is a big rug, and, I will need 6 yards of background.

I had a chance ...

 last  report August 5th

1. Rainbow scrap challenge - orange- playing catch up on my star and crown blocks in purple. I don't think I will be making any of these blocks for the orange month, although, I haven't looked in my stash. There may be a cheddar or a smokey orange. We will see.

2. rhododendren mystery - hunter -    I have found the blocks. But that is another story here. I soaked and washed the stained blocks, and, I have started with the short rows. I am having a hard time with the directional blocks.

it's a beginning ...

 last July 8, 2022

1. Rainbow scrap challenge - orange- I made a few bow ties, even orange. With the announcement of the new leader/ender challenge from Quiltville, I decided to look back at the ones I have started and not finished, rather than start the new one. This was the earliest one I have not finished, and, I sorted it out and decided to work on this for a bit. If my calculations are correct, I only need 30 + more little blocks to start a top.

2. rhododendren mystery - hunter -    I have found the blocks. But that is another ...

3. Boho heart -Nothing new here. I am at a part that intimidates me. I can't just pick up something and quickly sew it together, so I procrastinate.

4. maple leaves - I need ...

BOHO Heart by Jen Kingwell from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So many of you know that I've been teaching quilting for over 20 years. Imagine that! I recently read a book -- the Love People, Use Things book. And one of the things they mention in the book is to try and find your passion in life. It makes for a much better life, and I have to say that I lucked out to find two passions -- teaching and quilting!

One of the best parts of teaching is seeing the end result of the class and the reaction of the attendees to say, "I MADE that!" So show and tell ...

Like a dog with a bone! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Thanks again for all your comments -- I'll get to answering them/commenting back, hopefully later today! While I write the blog for my sanity, I also enjoy sharing it, and if it inspires, motivates, or amuses others, that's a bonus.

This story I'm about to tell you is disturbing, and I know that some of you will say, "I told you so!" Don't yell at me, and don't tell me NOT to shop there. Yes -- this is a story about Bulk Barn. The last time, I caught some teen girls helping themselves to candies or ...

My last 5 quilt progress report May 30

1. Rainbow scrap challenge - blue- I am working on the rainbow scrap challenge colors that I didn't sew during the past months. waffle stamp blocks require the 1/12 inch block centers that have to be pieced ahead, before I can put them together. I did make the candy blocks in blue.

3. Boho heart - The first section on the left is together. Time to make a few blocks for the next section.

A Jen Kingwell love affair from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH -- I have to get back to responding to the comments!! Someone is also reading The End of Her. I finished it while walking the dogs, and well -- I don't want to say what happened, but I was a bit surprised. That's all I'm going to say! This is NOT the sort of book they talk about in a book club, but I want to discuss this with someone!

I've started another book -- Looking for Jane by Heather Marshal. Someone recommended it to me. OH my -- what a fantastic premise. Who dreams up this stuff? I ...

Graffiti from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So I took a drive downtown Toronto the other day. I choose to go on Sunday when the traffic wouldn't be so bad, and I'd be able to find decent (and cheap) parking. The parking was cheap -- $10 for the entire day, and I could even locate my car at the end of the day. I don't know downtown that well, so I take special care to note where I parked. I have visions of wandering the city to find my car, and since I parked in an underground parking lot, it would have been impossible to ...

Progress in the sewing room from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The pandemic and Zoom have really changed our lives! I taught an in-person class yesterday, which still took time to prep (collect all the stuff), then it took several hours of travel time, then to teach the course and drive back home. The day was gone! If the class had been on Zoom, it wouldn't have taken HALF of the time! Just something to think about as we go forward. And look at this.

The gas price is almost $2.00 a liter

Yep -- we are on the verge of $2.00 per liter of regular gas. The gas ...

my last 5 quilts progress report April 25, 2022

1. Rainbow scrap challenge - green-  I made 7 candy blocks. This makes 35 blocks in rainbow colors for this quilt. I am aiming for 56. I like making them and it uses the smallest pieces, so it is a new favorite.

2. rhododendren mystery - hunter -   I need to cut 1 inch squares for cornerstones in garnet. yuk

3. Boho heart - I am working on section 1- the farthest left section. It is squirrelly to put together. I have to take a break when it gets too confusing. When I come back ...
