Graffiti from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So I took a drive downtown Toronto the other day. I choose to go on Sunday when the traffic wouldn't be so bad, and I'd be able to find decent (and cheap) parking. The parking was cheap -- $10 for the entire day, and I could even locate my car at the end of the day. I don't know downtown that well, so I take special care to note where I parked. I have visions of wandering the city to find my car, and since I parked in an underground parking lot, it would have been impossible to ...

2. rhododendren mystery - hunter -   I still need to cut 1 inch squares for cornerstones in garnet. No progress here.

Progress in the sewing room from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The pandemic and Zoom have really changed our lives! I taught an in-person class yesterday, which still took time to prep (collect all the stuff), then it took several hours of travel time, then to teach the course and drive back home. The day was gone! If the class had been on Zoom, it wouldn't have taken HALF of the time! Just something to think about as we go forward. And look at this.

The gas price is almost $2.00 a liter

Yep -- we are on the verge of $2.00 per liter of regular gas. The gas ...

my last 5 quilts progress report April 25, 2022

1. Rainbow scrap challenge - green-  I made 7 candy blocks. This makes 35 blocks in rainbow colors for this quilt. I am aiming for 56. I like making them and it uses the smallest pieces, so it is a new favorite.

2. rhododendren mystery - hunter -   I need to cut 1 inch squares for cornerstones in garnet. yuk

3. Boho heart - I am working on section 1- the farthest left section. It is squirrelly to put together. I have to take a break when it gets too confusing. When I come back ...

scrap play from Making A Lather

Just a little fun with triangles. I had a pile on the sewing table and rather than put them in "the bucket", I just made a few beauty baskets. And yes, I dug some more out of the bucket and made a bigger mess. But, I was a happy girl.

I made a few yellow easy breezy blocks, lately, as leader/ enders. It takes 11 steps to complete one. It's a simple block, but, several steps.

I have a little more done on boho heart.

A winter wonderland from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So what happened yesterday? This is April -- the Easter Bunny has already come and gone, and we get this?

A winter wonderland

Thankfully, the roads and sidewalks are dry this morning, but we do NOT need this snow. The landscapers are supposed to come and open my pond this morning, and I was going to clean up the backyard (from the dogs), and well, I was out when it started to snow. So the yard didn't get cleared. Sigh..................

I'm happy to report that I was able to finish all the quilting on my Cherrywood Challenge with the ...

Show and Tell -- Boho Heart from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I had a relaxing afternoon where I got a lot of work done -- nothing that I can share yet. Gosh -- my entire life seems to be about secrets or secret sewing or just plain old sewing with a deadline that the group or organization that the sewing is for should get first dibs on seeing the project!

I got more quilting done on the Cherrywood Challenge, but I'm going to run out of thread! Yikes -- so that means a trip (a short one) to get more. This is good because I'm also looking for one more embellishment or ...

Slow and steady wins the race from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

We had an excellent serger class at K&A Quilt Studio! Some people were new to serging or relatively new, and others wanted some inspiration or confirmation that what they were doing was the "right" way. Or should I say the best way? That's the thing with sewing and quilting; there is NO right way to do anything. You have to try various things and find the one that works for you! There will be another serger class sometime soon, so watch for that.

Then I was home and trying to get some work done, but either I was ...

Lexi, make yourself at home from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So there are good days and bad days! That's the same thing with the nights. I had a terrible night with very little sleep for several reasons. It drives me nuts, which is probably why I couldn't get to sleep -- you tell yourself - you are not upset, you are calm, everything is OK, and yet, you can't get to sleep.

The worst of it all was that there was NOTHING to be upset about. Anyway -- it's not the end of the world - I'll live, but it just happens to be my day with the most ...

Puttering in the studio! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm enjoying my new watch face. Yep -- while I loved the Bitmoji one, this one is better. It's easier to read (PINK (gasp!) on black) than white on orange. No cute little Bitmoji is covering the time (sometimes), and the stats require just ONE touch to see everything instead of tapping numerous times. Sigh -- dare I say that change is sometimes for the better?

Some people have mentioned that wrist movement can sometimes add steps to the FitBit. Yep -- I know that, but NOT 20 KM at once. The first time it happened, I went from standing to ...

Mini design boards are the best! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yesterday, with all the Zoom calls and the prep for those calls, just about did me in!

By the time I was finished at 4 PM, I was wiped. I did NOT go for a second walk. It was late, the sidewalks were treacherous from the weather, it was cold. I wimped out and said, "NO -- I'm not budging." I even asked DH to order pizza (we were going to go out). It was just one of those days, and I'm OK with it. I did feel a twinge of guilt, not going for that second walk, and ...

5 quilts february 28, 2022 from Making A Lather

My 5 quilts progress report. I tried to not do this EVERY week (boring) but, it has worked to keep me focused. And, I miss it. I find I have been a little haphazard without it. I thought I would do it every month, but, I think I need to go back to every week to help me.

1.rainbow scrap challenge - color aqua/teal - boho heart. I worked on the blue/aqua blocks I needed for boho heart.

Accomplished! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

WOW --- what a crazy day, but I feel so accomplished!

It's a long story about me getting my third shot, but it finally got booked for yesterday at 10:45 at the local pharmacy, so I could walk. Hey -- if I don't need to use my car, I won't, and I got lots of extra steps in the day. I arrive at the pharmacy and see two people ahead of me in the line. The guy's appointment was for 11, and his wife was for 12:45.

The pharmacy wasn't giving the shots until 11 ...

Persistence from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Thanks to "my editor," who spotted that I used the incorrect word to describe the goodies we enjoyed yesterday. I wrote that we were eating macaroons, but in fact, we were sharing maracons! Two different cookies. HEY -- if you want to know more about it, check out this website from Martha Stewart. Macarons and macaroons are both cookies with similar ingredients, but macarons are made with almonds; macaroons use coconut, and they look and are made differently.

I made a typo when I wrote that yesterday!

I know that many people are new to sewing or sewing techniques, and I ...

red scraps and rsc from Making A Lather

I started sorting for the  rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy with 1 1/2 inch strips in red. I went through the entire gallon bag of strips and pulling any that were not at least 12 inches long. I had a nice little pile. I cut as many as I could into 1 1/2 inch squares for easy breezy blocks if there was 4 matching. If there was at least 3 inches left I put them together to make 4 patches, some will be used for blossom time and some will just be made into random 4 patches ...

5 quilts Deccember 27, 2021 from Making A Lather

 My 5 quilts progress report.

1. boho heart - I am working on group 2 first section in pink, but, at this point, I am dropping this project off the list to add it to my rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy list, since, I want to work on it in rainbow color of the month.

2. full stop quilt that Angela is doing for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.- I made a multi colored word rsc and abbreviation for rainbow scrap challenge. I sure didn't want to make the whole words - eek

3. rhododendren mystery - hunter - I ...

I need more fingers and toes from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'll start with the window update. So fourteen windows are entirely done, and a couple more are prepped and ready to go this morning. Those are sitting in the garage, and that leaves 12 windows to go and two days left to install them. If you do the math, I don't think they will make it. Two of the windows they did yesterday were small ones in two upstairs bathrooms.

At some point, we needed to do a count and NO -- we seem to be one window short. I knew this was going to happen. Well, no - I ...
