When presented with the theme, my mind went immediately to The Little Mermaid, and the Oscar winning song, “Under the Sea.” So of course I had to make a mermaid block.

The quilt along is being hosted by Tammy @ Tamarinis and Kate @ Kate Colleran Designs. There are lots of prizes being offered and great tutorials and I hope you’ll quilt along!

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Bugs.

I wasn’t sure what bug I wanted to create until I remembered this great photo my husband took of a Black and Yellow Garden spider (Zipper spider) in our garden.

I call my block pattern Aragog, after the spider in Harry Potter.

Here’s this month’s color palette. It features common bug colors of green and blue.
