The kindness of a friend from Quilting with Kimberly

More tears were flowing at our house yesterday. But they were good tears.

Tears of love, good memories, joy for our sweet little Divot and the kindness of our dear friend, Sherri Manios.

Last year, when Tuffy passed away, she sent us a gorgeous drawing

drawn from this photo she found posted on my social media page. It means more to us than you could ever imagine.

I had the drawing framed and it now hangs prominently where we can see it and remember Tuffy every day because he was, after all, the “World’s Greatest Cat.” (And that’s ...

Birthdays and More from Quilting with Kimberly

First, Kent and I want to sincerely thank everyone — more than 150 of you — for sending so many beautiful cards to help Kent celebrate his 60th birthday! (And dozens and dozens more of you posted loving comments to him on Facebook!) It was more appreciated than you could EVER know. He was so surprised! I posted a short video on Facebook of Kent opening the large box of all the cards and packages. (I’d post the video here except this platform doesn’t seem to accept videos or anything over 2MB. Darn it!)

Kent wanted to take time to ...

What's Up 4.23.19 from Rose Prairie Quilts and Farm

I'm a day late but

Image result for earth day 2019

I have had a week of no doctor appointments for my parents and it has given me time to relax and reflect. And the best thing is, there is not another one until the 30th.
The weather here in NE Oklahoma has been beautiful, unusual for us. This is normally severe weather time but the past few years it seem that, that weather has moved east and south.
So Easter Sunday was gorgeous and we went for a hike to see the Dogwoods that are blooming which are spectacular this year.
We have a ...

A lovely Sunday from Quilting with Kimberly

We had planned to get so much work done this past weekend. We have taxes to prepare and file. We have seemingly dozens of deadlines calling our names. We have chores to do around the house. And it has been raining lately. A lot. Long-time residents of Southern California have told us they haven’t seen rain in these amounts in years! Yes, the rain has been good for the drought conditions in the area. But now, everything is positively soggy. And squishy. Plus, it had rained on Friday and most of Saturday. The weatherman predicted it to rain on ...

Remember me? from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

It's been a while. Lots of stuff happening, and I'll start with early July...

In July, Cindy and I slipped away for a reconnaissance mission to Missouri Star Quilt Company. It was the first visit for each of us. We both had plans for what we needed.

Missouri Star is approximately 400 miles from my home. We headed out on a Thursday morning. Springfield, Missouri is the halfway point and we stopped at Quilt Sampler. I bought a foot for my Bernina, Cindy got the cutest vintage-style Santa quilt kit.

We arrived at our hotel in Cameron which ...

Hello, October! from From the Strawberry Patch...

Yep, another calendar page has been turned. "Hello, October" really has been replaced in my mind today with "whatever happened to September?" Sigh. Time marches on! I read an excellent article yesterday morning, sent to me by a dear friend, which helps put life into perspective. I am linking to it here for your reading enjoyment. It helped me to savor the day, simply for the pleasure of being

Run away from Quilting with Kimberly

My husband came home from work and since it was a slow week at the office, his boss told him he could take a couple days off following the July 4th holiday. He whispered in my ear, “Run away with me.”

“Are you kidding me?” I gasped! “We have a million things going on right now! The electrician is coming the day after the 4th and my studio cabinets are scheduled to be installed next week, and we have a new kitten who’s getting into everything and I’m behind on my deadlines and I’ve got so much ...

The exceedingly generous Dave LaValley, the original “Santa Claus of sewing machines.”

It’s been a wild and hectic summer with trips to visit many quilters across the country! I recently returned from another fabulous week at the 42nd Vermont Quilt Festival; my eighth opportunity to judge and teach at this amazing quilt show in an outstanding venue which is truly one of the highlights of my teaching year!

Early morning outside the classroom before the students arrived for the first day of class!

Janome-America, Inc. is the Diamond Sponsor for VQF, spearheaded by Dave LaValley, owner of Bittersweet Fabrics ...

Moving ahead from Quilting with Kimberly

Our new home has this beautiful flowering tree in the front yard. I’m not familiar with the type of tree this is. Does anyone know what it is called?

So much has happened in the past four weeks my head is spinning! But God is great and we’re right where we’re supposed to be. After five months of waiting for interest from potential buyers, we received an offer on our Virginia home and closed the sale less than two weeks later. It was a hectic time; Kent and I met the packers and movers right after I ...

Blessings abound from Quilting with Kimberly

Today is my birthday. This year, I’m away from family; staying in a hotel, and working. But rather than spend a moment feeling lonely or blue, I’ve been counting my blessings. All. Day. Long.

I woke up this morning and when I checked my messages, the very first message I read was from someone in Istanbul, Turkey, wishing me a happy birthday. Throughout the day I received literally dozens and dozens of wonderful wishes from friends and acquaintances from countries such as South Africa, Germany, Norway, Taiwan, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, and many, many more from folks ...
