Birthdays Past and Future, Those Little "Houses" from From the Strawberry Patch...

Bear with me; this is going to be a long post. That's what happens when I don't post for days weeks on end! I celebrated yet another birthday this past week. It was a perfectly wonderful day; Mr. Goodneedle took me out to breakfast and then on to an athletic shoe store that generates a 3-D model of your feet for superior fitting. I tried on three different pairs of walking shoes from there and

SCRAP BUSTING from That's Sew Kerry

No Scrap Left Behind

This is something I actually started quite a while ago, the center or main body of the quilt is a simple Jelly Roll quilt but is a very effective and rather quick way to rustle up a fairly decent sized quilt in a couple of hours.

You will need a full Jelly Roll, unroll it and layout all the pairs of colours/prints so you can easily see what you've got to work with. Then sew every strip end to end so you have one extremely long, continuous length of fabric measuring 2.5" wide ...

Single Family Household from From the Strawberry Patch...

It's quiet around here again; Chez Goodneedle has gone back to being a single family household. In the uncharacteristic stillness I have loaded "Scarlet Stars" onto Snowbird this morning and begun quilting it.  I sure do miss my little garden helper! Every day after lunch Lynnleigh and I would go out and do the deadheading, watering, or bird feeder filling;  she was always quick to remind me

Camelot It's Not from Canadian Needle Nana

I just can't tell you what a treat it is to be outside so much these days. No, as I've moaned about, it isn't perfect what with the heat a little stifling by midafternoon but I've just had to figure out how to work around it.  After all, it is only in Camelot that the weather is decreed by law to always be beautiful as Richard Harris sings to Vanessa Redgrave in this video. What a hopeful, romantic melody!
This was made all the more popular after the Kennedy era when it was learned that John ...

Another Year Older.... from Val's Quilting Studio

...and got to celebrate it a little early when our two favorite little guys visited!
That is our little guy's "CHEESE" smile and big brother's "Smile nice for the camera" grin" as I begged him to "Just do one nice smile for Meme bud." LOL!! I  really didn't want one of his "funny" faces he humorously enjoys flashing in practically every picture taken lately!  Hard to believe he starts kinder in the Fall! Anyhooo.....Celebrating 54 couldn't get any better than this!

Happy Birthday To My MIddle Child Andy from Quilts + Color

Andy's goal in life is never to let anyone take a good picture of him.

For his 56th birthday this was his present.

No words necessary until the end.

The message at the end of the book read:
Happy 56th birthday Andy
To my "middle kid" who's goal in life is to never let anyone take a good picture of him.

Love, Your other mother

There were at least 40 photos in the book and you have only seen a few.

OCTOBER 2018 from Nestlings By Robin

I hit the Big 50 this year!  What a month October was!! Between family and friends, I really celebrated!!!!!

I went on 2 party trips, one personal trip, and a business trip so lots of flying!
The first trip was with a dear friend I have known my whole adult life. She is a big sister to me! We are 10 years plus 2 days apart in our birthdays and I love that she dubbed this trip the, "Not yet 50/60 Tour"!! We had a blast together and just laughed for 3 days straight! Hello Nashville
This was our ...

My Favorite Eye-Spy Quilt Yet!!!! from Val's Quilting Studio

Today our little grand guy is ONE!!!

This is his birthday quilt:
Right! An eye-spy cow!!! I had so much creating this one!! I love the  ribbon tail, ping-pong utters and taggy number one on top of the spiderman cupcake! I know...it's not even done....but enough to gift to him. Life's just been so busy....in great ways. (more on that later)

We didn't capture his initial reaction on film...but he loved all the colors and textures.
He immediately clapped and sat right down on it. He made my day.

I have the border ...

Growing Boy, Small Foot from From the Strawberry Patch...

This one, our next to youngest grandchild, Gregory, turned eight over the weekend. His Mom and Dad surprised him and his sister with a trip to the Great Wolf Lodge. But, before they left on their excellent water-park adventure, we celebrated together, on his actual birthday, by attending a movie of his choosing: Small Foot. This is a wonderfully sweet story with incredible animation! The

A Super Hero Finish from Val's Quilting Studio

This is a pretty "busy" finish...but with two jelly rolls and a few 1/4 yards of superhero prints I was able to quickly put together this array of Super Hero fabrics for our grand-guys 5th birthday quilt! His two requests: "Meme it has to have Captain America and Spiderman annnnddddd be long enough to cover my feet! My feet fall out of last year's quilt now!"

It finished measuring 53"x 68" and should be big enough this upcoming winter
as he keeps his feet warm under it's soft, fleece backing of superheros.
(Notice our traditional ...

A Birthday Celebration! from Val's Quilting Studio

Our little grand-guy is five and we celebrated by treating him to his first college football game!

The pre-game "kid zone" events were full of fun! Bouncy houses, "cool" cars and big foam hats!

Boise State is know for it's BIG BLUE...and they didn't disappoint. By half time we had scored four touchdowns to the opponents one, each filled with fireworks, loud cheers and music.

He and Poppi spent quilty time together as he taught him the "ins and outs" of football.
...and his day was made when Poppi even wore his funny hair!

A much needed ...

Hello, October! from From the Strawberry Patch...

Yep, another calendar page has been turned. "Hello, October" really has been replaced in my mind today with "whatever happened to September?" Sigh. Time marches on! I read an excellent article yesterday morning, sent to me by a dear friend, which helps put life into perspective. I am linking to it here for your reading enjoyment. It helped me to savor the day, simply for the pleasure of being

Birthdays Abound! from From the Strawberry Patch...

A decade and a week or so have passed since the tiny baby, the one that made me a Nana,  burst onto the scene.  Happy Birthday, Mason!  Four days after her son celebrates his birthday our daughter's birthday rolls around. We drove to the Capital City late last week to take her and her family out to lunch on her big day. I didn't get any pictures of the festivities but had taken a shot of

...Miles To Go Before I Sleep...* from From the Strawberry Patch...

We've been on an adventure!  Back in April, on his 90th birthday, my Dad told us that one thing he had always wanted to do was cross the Chesapeake Bay via the Tunnel-Bridge. We decided then and there that this needed to happen!  Plans were made, routes were mapped out and the car was packed; it was time to make memories. We drove to New Hampshire to get my Mom and Dad and then we were off on a
