A late I Like Thursdays and a Friday Finish from Quilting Reader's Garden

Wednesday was getting readY for some library lesson presentations and story times at the library.  Thursday was presenting the lessons and a surprise story time. By the time I got home I was exhausted. Enough excuses. I did finish a baby quilt: All it needs now is binding.  I love the center dogie fabric! All of this flannel fabric wAS leftover from previous St. Anne's quilts. I used the

Some of This; Some of That from The Quilting Reader's Garden

I've been making string blocks, starting a new EPP, finished up an applique block, made a charity block for Covered in Love, and began quilting my UFO and a charity quilt - phew. So only have .53 yds to add to the stash report.  But I bagged yardage and scraps from my Sweet Land of Liberty that I no longer want. Found homespuns are so loosely woven, I don't care to work with them again.  I

I Like Thursdays and Finish For Friday from The Quilting Reader's Garden

Let's give a Whoop, Whoop! It's been raining all day.  Praise the Lord!  A steady rain except when a cell comes over - then it's a downpour for a couple of minutes.  We're so grateful.  I pray for our SoCal neighbors to the West which are in the Woolsey Fire area.  They are on notice to evacuate if the authorities call about potential mud slides. I've been working on a crochet project.  Some

Some of This; Some of That this Design Wall Monday from The Quilting Reader's Garden

Let's start with the destashing:  What with fabric for my last unit on the donut I'm working on for Bliss, a border for the Stars & Stripes sampler, and another baby top, I used 1.3 yards of fabric.  I'm giving 2 yards to St. Anne's, 3 yards to the Guild Friday giving me total of 6.3 yards.  My  new YTD total is  77.04 yds destashed out of the 88 yards needed to meet my goal.  I've passed my 3/4

Some of This; Some of That from The Quilting Reader's Garden

First the destashing.  Made a baby quilt top using a you-tube tutorial for a half log cabin block.  She used a layer cake to make hers.  I used 20" squares of two fabrics that made the whole top.  Here it is: Lighting is bad, but you get the idea. The two Christmas prints. This came out to 36" square - just the right size for a St. Anne's baby quilt.  Used 1.1 yds total of two fabrics to

6and6 in 2018 Progress - August from Quilting Reader's Garden

It's time to report on my challenge progress.  Not much got done in August.  It was a month too full of summer. I quilted a baby quilt from a top my mom made. I made two blocks for a new project I started earlier in the year (Meadow by Jen Kingwell)   and  I also quilted another for mom: This is a preemie quilt. I didn't even pull out the UFO designated for the month.  So that's it for

WIPs Be Gone and 6 + 6 from The Quilting Reader's Garden

Okay, I got started on the UFO (which I call WIP) that Judy pulled - #10 - my Mod Quilt.  It's sandwiched and pin basted - now to quilt it. Then I worked a bit on My Small World  -my new project for 6 + 6. Afterwards I sneaked in a quilt block.  This is for the 2018 RSC Challenge and Angela's Squared Away Sampler. She has a button for it:  and last but not least, I got the first

I've Been Somewhat Busy from The Quilting Reader's Garden

It's been a quilty week - two projects I can't even show you because they're just off the germ stage at this point.  I did work on my scrap bag quilts. Got this 30" top done by adding two borders. Sorry for the poor photo.  Hope to quilt it soon. This second quilt from the scrap bag just needs borders now. Think I'll add two and miter the last one.  We'll see.  It will be a 36" one for

One NICU Top Finished from The Quilting Reader's Garden

Here's my first completed top from that bag of scraps I showed you in the last post.  This is my 6th enlargement of a Nearly Insane block.  Mine is 30" finished.  The Nearly Insane one finishes at 5".  I fussy cut the sheep for the 16 patch. It's a bit dark but I think some Mom will want it for her little boy in the NICU. I then went on to finish the units for Bonnie's Part 2.  I made my
