A Reminder on Creativity from Jacquelynne Steves

Whew!  I have to admit, things have been very hectic for me lately.  We are preparing to open our doors for The Art of Home Club, and I've been doing quite a bit of "prep" work for that.  I've been writing patterns for the Club, and working on getting the colors "just right" for some of our pre-printed panels for Happy Little Things Block of the Month. And then there is the shipping - probably the least favorite part of my job, but is something that I haven't been able to delegate to others quite yet.  My husband ...

In the studio… from Jacquelynne Steves

There's so much going on here at home and in the studio! We have a lot of birthdays in our family from the end of January to the beginning of March- it's a good excuse to get together as often as possible and eat cake! Here is my adorable grand-niece, wearing her "gwasses." The weather has been quite chilly, and Alfie enjoys just hiding out in his bed, he likes to make a little "den" with a nice heavy quilt: But it makes him pretty sleepy! Read More

For this year, I would like to do a post every month to show you what's going on behind the scenes in both my business and my life.... so that is one of my goals for 2019!! This is January's post- hopefully this "resolution" won't flop come February!! Another 2019 goal- more "me" time! I was talking with designer friend Pat Sloan the other day, and we were talking about how we work too much- we made a pact for 2019 to do at ...

We have our new office ready for the holidays! Come take a tour with us! First of all- isn't Alfie handsome, wearing his red bow for the festivities? And here he is relaxing a little bit before people started to arrive: Read More

A peek at International Quilt Market, Spring 2018! from Jacquelynne Steves

I didn’t make it to Quilt Market this time around, but my pal Carolyn did! She’s giving us a little peek into the recent trade show. Carolyn has been in the quilting industry for over 30 years. She had her own pattern design business, Colorado Quilt Designs until starting to work for Quiltmaker Magazine in 2005 as an editor. A Beginner’s Guide to Pinterest from Jacquelynne Steves

I love Pinterest- how about you? It’s such a great way to save photos and links that you might want to refer to again. For example, have you ever read a really great article or tutorial, but when you try to find it again later, you have NO idea where it was? Or maybe you have a “bookmarks” bar on you browser, but it’s so disorganized you can’t find anything- or you can’t tell what the web page is about based on the link address? Maybe you are looking for ideas for making a pin cushion- ...

Spring Table Runner Pattern from Jacquelynne Steves

This pretty little project is my Spring Meadow Table Runner which I designed for Martingale. Get the Free Spring Table Runner Pattern over here on the Martingale site.  There’s also a great giveaway below, keep reading…

First, let’s talk about fabric selection. For my runner, I chose an unexpected color palette of yellow, pink, purple and gray. I think the little florals and dots give it a nice traditional-meets-modern feeling:

You could try using some bright colors as well, to give it a “summer” feel, or try using holiday fabrics:

When making small, quick projects, there are some ...

A little “eye candy”…. Quilt Market and The Art of Home Club Photos from Jacquelynne Steves

Hi there! Last week, I shared my new Preview Video with you, where I showed you some of the projects that we will be working on in The Art of Home Club for 2018. I am having sooo much fun working on these projects…. I’m spending a lot of time on embroidery these days, which is fine with me, because it’s Hallmark Christmas Movie season so I have a good excuse to just sit and relax and stitch!! I’m one of those people with 2 speeds- GO and STOP. I will admit that moderation can be a ...

My Christmas Table Runner in Quilts & More Magazine! from Jacquelynne Steves

I can’t believe we’ve come to the end of the year! It was 2015 when I submitted ideas to the editors at Quilts and More Magazine, and a little later that year when they asked me if I’d like to do a series for 2017…. 2016 was already booked (remember, this was mid 2015, and we are always working ahead). It seemed that 2017 would NEVER get here!! And here we are at the end, talking about the Winter 2018 issue! This issue features my last table runner in the series of 4. I really enjoyed these ...

In the studio this week… from Jacquelynne Steves

Are you enjoying the change of seasons? Here in the northern hemisphere, we are welcoming the beginning of fall, while our friends in the southern hemisphere are looking forward to spring! Both of these seasons seem to be perfect for creative inspiration, don’t you think?

Daughter was home and I think she saw something on Pinterest which gave her the idea to make a wool flower wreath for her apartment door. She made a form out of some old coat hangers, and wrapped it with batting scraps (see- those scraps come in handy!) Then she wrapped it with some ...
