Sweet Persimmons from Nestlings By Robin

I have never had a persimmon
and maybe I should try
one now that I have named
a quilt after them:)
New in the November
issue of AQ Magazine
meet Sweet Persimmons.
This sweet design started
out in a 30s rendition.

Once I started thinking in Autumn
colors, I came up with this palette.
Still really like it and may have
to put this grouping to work
in another project!

Looks great, right?

Sometimes I can't see past my
own vision but I also had
this Sandy Gervais print sitting
around that I had been wanting
to use in ...

Tea & Crumpets from Nestlings By Robin

IT'S HERE!
August brings
September AQ magazines
to mailboxes all over:)
Soon to be found on
shop shelves near you.
Within the pages you
will find my cheerful
Tea & Crumpets.

This piece was originally
done in a completely
different colorway
and in the end we
went with brights!

Before I can order fabrics,
I have to do a test block...
Luckily I had some
brights laying around
to play with.

I know paper piecing intimidates
some of you but I would encourage
everyone to have another go at it.
Organization is KEY!
See all the tidy piles and I ...

Q-Squirrel Pt 2 from Nestlings By Robin

Here we are at almost mid-July and the
self-quarantining continues.
Since I left you after part 1
here is just a bit of
what I have been up to....

I participated in a Virtual Trunk
that ended up being a FAB
way to introduce myself to
new followers.
You can see it HERE!

I like to be prepared so here
was my set up that day with
pages of notes, phone stand,
and a rack of quilts behind me:)

I continued playing with my friend's
Twelve Days of Christmas
that you can read more about
Here is a ...

Rockets Red Glare from Nestlings By Robin

LOOK what hit mailboxes
last week!!
The July issue is now out
and yours truly
has a new quilt within
titled, 'Rockets Red Glare'.
THANK YOU Connecting Threads for
the perfect fabric line,
Hometown Americana II.
It saddens me that so many quilters
feel overwhelmed by applique'
because, to me, it is such a
creative and relaxing form of quilting.
Yes, there are sometimes
many pieces to handle but
no more than some of
the pieced quilts I have seen.
There are times that even I look
at one of my designs and ask,
"who designed all this work?".
Then ...

BABY LOVE from Nestlings By Robin

Out on stands now is the
January 2020 issue of AQ magazine.

My new design, BABY LOVE, is
featured within on page 64.
I was very thankful to have Ann Hamel's
(AQ's fantastic editor) advice on
what is trending with baby colors since I
am not a grandma and so a bit out of the loop:)
Once I had my lovely Shadow Play
fabric from Maywood Studios, I
went shopping for some basic thread
and found the perfect pink with my
mother's name:)
Then it was time to get to work
paper piecing these simple little blocks ...

AQS' amazing new cover!
Thank You again for choosing "Winterkin"!

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love pumpkins!
I love looking at them, decorating with them, and
eating them (savory or sweet), so, it goes without
saying that I love to design with them as well.
You can find more HERE.
White pumpkins have been a designer trend for
a few years now and although they are cute,
I still really liked orange until....
One day I realized that I could use them as
a transition design with my poinsettias and
holly that also really get my design juices ...
