EQ Dozen + 41, 42 from Virtual Quilter

Experimenting with sashing which is sometimes visible in contrast fabric, sometimes hiding in block background fabric!

I love the first design.

Like the second one too.

Lovin’ Spoonful 47, 48 from Virtual Quilter

I love this series.

I love both of these designs.

I am still amazed that this whole series of quilts use blocks inspired by a teaspoon!

Blocks in Borders 11, 12, 13, 14 from Virtual Quilter

Oh, so sweet!

This project file is pretty much all so sweet … a combination of dainty block designs and pretty colours.

I am slowly retiring project files, and this is one making it’s farewell appearance today.

I am well on the way to sorting blocks designs, which has included a lot of redrawing blocks, and will start using the new blocks, and associated quilting motifs, in new projects in the hopefully not too distant future. Will have to keep this selection of fabrics in mind for one of the new projects.

By the way, I use fabrics in the ...

Birds in the Orchard 15, 16 from Virtual Quilter

I love this applique design, but should have added quilting motifs in those empty spaces!

Or some birds would be nice!

Quilting required in this one too, but I like it … at least there are birds.

Patch Play 25, 26 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting border, though not sure that it works as well as it could.

I like the border change … and the overall design.

Of course, room for quilting always works for me!

Birds in the Orchard 13, 14 from Virtual Quilter

Lots of space to quilt! I think I would basically cross hatch, but add a few flying birds swooping and gliding over the surface.

No birds on the second design, but the little fountains and the apple trees are sure to attract them sometime.

Again, lots of space to quilt, and once again I would keep it simple, with straight lines echoing those narrow borders, and yes, those birds would be flying around.

The last couple of days I have noticed a lot of birds flying around in addition to the few small birds which fly around the garden catching ...

After Pompeii 53, 54 from Virtual Quilter

Lots of space for quilting, and as there are no Wedding ring blocks amongst the applique, I would try to incorporate quilted Wedding Rings.

Quilted Wedding Rings would be a simple way of filling in the spaces reserved for quilting too.

Stained Glass Project 20, 21, 22 from Virtual Quilter

I don’t have time to learn to create stained glass, and no space to set up a lead lighting workshop, so I am wondering if anyone has thought of creating the software and hardware to print designs on glass , or even perspex, so art work could be displayed in windows! Interesting concept.

I have spent a lot of time over the last week sorting blocks in my Electric Quilt libraries, and I think the stained glass blocks are sorted ready to add a name and put in the new, tidy, library.

We are not in total lockdown, but there ...

A Prairie Update from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

As the new year has begun, so has the drive to complete some projects that we have on deck for this year. Teri wrote about hers a couple of weeks ago in her goals post seen HERE, and I (Kara) also have a few in-progress items that I have been working to get finished. As Teri mentioned in her post, I like to have projects as opposed to just blocks—not that there is anything wrong with having blocks. When we finished our Baltimore Fraktur blocks for our September 2020 class at Baltimore on the Prairie, I knew then that ...

Our Longarm Renters Use Applique to Make Anything They Imagine! from Quilted Joy

We love our longarm renters. They are so much fun and bring in some very pretty quilts for us to admire. We’ve seen everything from bargello to wholecloth, classic blocks to modern marvels. Some of my favorites are the creative applique quilts. Applique can literally be anything. There is very little that limits what you can add to a quilt by cutting it out and stitching it on a background fabric. Check out what some of our longarm machine renters have quilted with us.
